That looks like the plane I've flown in three times. In fact, the only plane I've ever flown in. Regrettably, or not, I've never experienced landing in one.

When you say banks, I take it you mean setlists? One of the things I'm glad they did was allow for just straight numbering from 000 to 127 within a setlist, basically getting rid of the idea of banks.

You're not alone in having a twisted back, and shoulder. Let's hope the editor is a little more than what they've been saying so far. Which is basically, it's the same as the unit itself. There's so much more that could be done with the editor than just duplicating Helix on a computer screen. I believe strongly that they should take advantage of that. Hopefully it remains a priority beyond the initial release.

Has anyone gotten good results with the 3 OSC Synth? It's sort of fun to play around with, but I really can't imagine using anything this effect pukes out in an actual song. It's also difficult to work with. Maybe there's something I'm missing about this effect, or just not 'getting'. Anyway, wondering what others think.

I use the same info for my forum and support account also. Easier. So the sign-in info can be the same for both accounts, but they can also be different. Just like an Ideascale account is another account. The forums are just a courtesy of Line 6. No official support contained within. The support account is the one you use to register your devices, and authorize them if you have, for instance, the model packs. It's also used for support tickets. This is the account you use when you login using the Line 6 Monkey program to check for updates, etc. However, maybe things have changed since I created the accounts I have, and maybe they've streamlined things a bit?

When I took the bottom plate off mine to lubricate the expression pedal, it looks like they use big globs of hot glue on the ribbon cable connections, presumably so they don't become loose.
-
I remember reading, I think somewhere on these forums, that the problem is not the scribble strips themselves, but with the ribbon cables connecting them, pointing to a manufacturing process problem. Fixable for the future, but surely degrades the label tour grade equipment somewhat.
-
Sure could hook it directly to the Denon via analog, with the proper cables, or spdif through the DAC. I don't see why something like that wouldn't work. It might even sound really good too.

The forum account and support account are two different accounts.

I'm confused. If you plug an external pedal into the EXP3 jack, you still have EXP1 and EXP2 available with the onboard expression pedal?
-
It's things like this that I keep reading about that's gotten me in the habit of backing up setlists, and individual patches. When they release the editor, I hope there is an offline mode that allows you to extract individual patches from setlists. If not, they really should think about that.

You'll want to grab the Helix application version 1.02.

Here's a patch that quickly changes the two: amp and cab in one block to amp and cab in two blocks. I'm hearing the exact same thing in both cases. quick.amp.switch.zip

Wow! There's some really freaky sounds in that vid. I guess I've now seen a reason to treasure my HD500X, because I doubt Helix can make most of those sounds. Maybe it will be able to one day. This has to be the biggest downside of Helix right now. To the first poster, you might be able to get close by just duplicating on Helix what you see in the screenshot, but the only thing I'm not sure about, or how to make on Helix, would be the voice box. Maybe the mystery filter, combined with the 3 osc synth? Everything else in there looks like Helix has, I think.

I've got the Legacy cabinet from Rosen Digital. That's a really nice one that when combined with an onboard IR, in series, makes it really, really nice.
-
3/16" will work.
-
I don't know if I'd use the word adore, but I find the built in IRs good enough for anything, really. The plus side of the built in ones, it's very easy to change how one sounds to get the correct one for the context by changing mic and mic distance. It's not as easy when you have to sift through lots of files.

There's lots of things you could try. Lowering the gain you've tried. Don't know if you really want to boost the master volume, but maybe. That won't really do anything for fizz. Use the hi-cut parameter on the cab or IR; put it around 10Khz, or even less, which will help a lot. If that's not good enough, you can try putting a hi-cut EQ after the cab/IR, this hi-cut is slightly different than the cab's. Use the low-cut too, which can help balance things. Mess around with the BIAS parameter of the amp. There's always going to be some sort of fizz present as it's part of the tone. When listened to with the rest of the tracks going, a lot will disappear.

One of the downsides of the way information is dispersed these days. Respect becomes just a vague notion, that could be losing its meaning more every day. It really would be difficult to keep calm about a case of plagiarism or theft, but at least with that you can have some legal options.

It's probably a good thing that many are still waiting. It means Helix has exceeded Line 6's predicted interest, which can only mean good things for Helix's future.

I was disappointed with the mechanics of the expression pedal also. Found it very rough. Although you can adjust the tension, I found it's either too loose or too tight, with no in-between. Thanks to forum member ice9mike, he found a way to fix this: http://line6.com/support/topic/16433-exp-squeaks-when-i-put-my-foot-on-it-to-use-it/?p=127929. I did this, it's easy enough to do. Just a lot of small screws to remove. I used chapstick for the lubricant. It makes a night/day difference. But, if you don't feel comfortable removing the bottom plate of Helix, then don't.

Does that mean that each mic and mic distance are not IRs?

You could take a screen of HD Edit to get part of a setlist. I know, it kind of sucks. You can rename setlists in either. On the unit, press the setlist encoder, then hit save. In HD Edit, select the setlist tab, then slow double click on the setlist name.
