What is this, an episode of Fargo?

If you record via Helix's USB, it's good to get in the habit of always, that's not never, recording the dry signal no matter what. It's great for re-amping and even trying out other guitar processors, software or other.

There is an android app called Chord! that's very useful.

I'm fairly certain the OP was wanting to know the order of the blocks on the switches/scribble strips when using pedal-edit-mode (see my post above).
-
The pedal can't be assigned globally. But, how you choose to have the pedal's position remembered is a global option, meaning you can have it by preset or the actual current pedal's position regardless of patch.
-
The order goes: bottom left, bottom right, top left, top right, with bottom left having the first block you see on the screen (which goes top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, but parallel paths complicates things, see below). Pedal edit mode also includes split blocks that have parameters and the resulting mixer block. If there are more than ten blocks then the more switch moves to the next page and just continues on with the remaining blocks, using the same pattern indicated above. Screen order: 1 - 2(split w/ params) * 3 - 4 * 7(merge) - 8 | 5 - 6 | 9 - 10, etc. Scribble strip/switch order: 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 more... 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

I'm one of those that gets the audio dropout issue nearly every time I use Helix. It's annoying, but ignorable. I also remember trying to hook an HD500X spdif output to Helix's spdif input, and it was unusable because of static noise. Everything functioned the way it should have, except for the noise. If you find out anything more about your situation, please let us all know. There is something odd that goes on with the spdif connections.
-
That's really strange. I wonder if Helix is acting like an antenna? Have you tried moving Helix to a different location, even a little, to see if it changes? Or even if possible to a completely different room.

When toggling between two effects with one switch, the thing that determines the state of the light will be whatever effect is first in the chain.

Ah ha! Someone else notices that the bass cabs are useful for something other than bass. I also like the Rhino cab. For an even darker tone, maybe not as fat, but more crunch around the edges, try the Beast.

I feel bad for people that aren't old enough to appreciate this perspective. Not their fault or anything like that. But they just don't have the advantage of not taking technology for granted. They can get a sense of it by studying technological history, but is that something they even teach in schools nowadays? And if they don't, how many people would actually want to learn about it?

I couldn't duplicate this on mine... About the trails. If you're assigning the mix to a switch, the trails won't work right. If you assign a switch to toggle the particle verb block, then the trails will work. Or you could put the verb in a parallel path, make the mix 100%, and assign the route to parameter of an A/B split to a switch, muting the path the verb is on, and use the mixer block to control the mix. Doing it this way, it doesn't matter what the trails parameter is set to, as you'll always have trails because the particle verb is always on. But you'll have to use one of the four paths for this purpose alone.

Not familiar with the smashing bit you're referencing, but I can imagine him proceeding to use some of the more destructive types of woodworking tools...

Take a look at the TwoTones A-B patch in the Templates setlist. To get it to use an expression pedal instead of a switch: Select the split A/B on path 1A Hold Route To Press Learn Controller Move the pedal you want to use Press the Home button Doh! Or better yet, just look at the patch TwoTones Blend.

The new autowah seems to me to be the same as the mutant filter, with more parameters exposed. It's more tweakable and easier to get good results. I doubt you can get any sort of yaya with Helix. Even with all the filters the HD has, I don't think you could achieve it on that either. Maybe get close though.

I think this is a really good point. That is, people trying to transition to Helix from something else, or more generally from X to Y. There's a built-in bias against Helix from the start because you're familiar with something already, and when you can't get something nearly identical out of Helix, and quickly too, that's likely only increasing the bias. I've done this too. Many, many times. Including with Helix. Including when I first got the HD. For that I was constantly comparing it to what I using before. Whatever comes after Helix for me, I'm sure I'll again constantly compare the new to Helix. Even though I was at first skeptical about Helix, I was also surprised at how easy, and in relatively little time, I was able to leave the HD behind (except for some effects).

There was one screenshot via camera I remember seeing: http://s269.photobucket.com/user/sotipay/media/helixeditor_zpsiv83mfvo.jpg.html

Haven't heard much of anything about this lately. Wonder what the holdup is...

Good one. Or how about a Floyd on that 4-string with the .266 gauge.

The mission pedal works great for wah. I prefer it over the built-in one. I'll just assign it to something other than the pedal switch. Another way would be to set up the wah so that when whatever pedal it's assigned to is in the heel position, the wah is more or less off, by assigning both the mix and position parameters to the pedal. Usually a minimum mix of around 20-40 works, depending on the wah.
-
Neither do I. :) But, you can get some really bizarre sounds from this effect. Turn the gain up a little and assign the sample rate to an expression pedal with a min around 300 and max around 3KHz and set the bit depth kind of low.
-
That's a really good point. I tried using the Mission for volume control, and it's terrible for that. Helix's built in one is great.
