  1. I love my Variax and how it integrates with my Helix floor. But that is also kind of it's achilles heel. It won't integrate in the same way with anything else. It also appears to have been left to the side as far as support goes. There are still bugs with the Helix so it doesn't operate properly. If you're curious what that is, if you set up your Helix to have a different setting for the tone or volume knob in a patch, when you switch to another patch, it keeps the setting the previous patch had. If you press the new patches swith again it will then change the Variax to the proper setting. Not a big deal but one of the things I would use it a lot for would be with different tone knob settings for the acoustics. The tone setting simulates different mic placements but I can't use the setting I like the best because of this bug. Soooooo, Havaing said all of that, there is this https://sim1guitar.com/xt-1/ It does have MIDI so I believe can be controlled by your HX Effects I think.
  2. There are many amps with digital electronics in the knob section that sits right on top of the amp. I would say with great confidence that you can do that. And if it was an issue I would hope that Line 6 would mention it since speakers are a neccesary part of the Helix.
  3. So first check to see if you are getting anything out of your headphones. If you are, given all of the options just make sure your output is correct and the big volume knob on the Helix is turned up.. That's the first two things to do. These may sound obvious but I've been caught by both of them at one time or another.
  4. Not sure if this was mentioned but you could make a copy of the preset and start deleting/turning off/adding, turning on again, effects/amps to see which one is causing the issue as you change snapshots. Hope this helps.
  5. Mine is on my Helix. Are you talking about the HX Effects? I know the Helix has three different modes for the tuner. There's fine, coarse and strobe. Strobe works best for me. The Helix manual mentions a couple of things which may apply to you. The first one applies to bass. These are from page 44 of the Helix manual. I do not know if this is in the HX Effects manual. Choose between three Tuner types: Fine (color-changing, needle tuner with fine-tuning bar, the default), Coarse (color-changing needle tuner with no fine-tuning bar), or Strobe. The Tuner accurately tunes notes down to 21.83 Hz (low F) for 5-string basses. This one could at least take care of the issue Some guitarists feel that tuning certain strings slightly sharp or flat in relation to concert tuning can improve intonation. String offsets calibrate the tuner so that these slightly out-of-tune pitches appear as in tune. String 6 is low E, and String 1 is high E. Tuning offsets won’t be applied unless Knob 6 (Offsets) on Page 1 is turned on. I have no idea if this is in the HX Effects manual so I don't know if it will apply.
  6. I don't know why it won't update. Perhaps you should just delete the old one and then see if it will install it with no previous version on your computer.
  7. So it looks like it has both technologies in it. It is a bit out of my budget.
  8. Not interested. Not sure if you know but I remember something like this and it used original Variax hardware and not the JTV's.
  9. Line 6 does have a thing where you can report it stolen if it was regtistered so If they see it they can tell you. Go here
  10. This is all good info I never would have figured out if I had come across it. Thank You!!!
  11. AMEN!!! I've been waiting for some way to keep track of what IR goes with what patch. Even just a little notes area in each patch so I can note that and any other idiosyncracies related to the patch. I checked Ideascale and did not see either thing in there. I would upvote that.
  12. Just another confirmation. HUB Bad.
  13. I know what you are asking for does not exist. The "Favorite" suggestion is the best way to do what you want. Create a favorite and replace it everytime you change parameters. Kind of a pain but the only way i can think of at the moment.
  14. You could just put a SEND block anywhere you want the signal to come from in your path If you just want the guitar, put it right after the input. Make sure the output of the SEND going to the amp is at instrument level. That should do it.
  15. The Helix does not have an input for any audio device like IPhones, drum machines, keyboards, etc for you to play along with. I think silverhead's idea will only work for a mono source. If you want stereo, you need to use two return blocks either at the very end of your patch or on a different path. You would then need to have some kind of cable that will split the audio coming from the IPhone to two 1/4" plugs in order to plug them into the returns. If the returns do not sound then there is something wrong with hwoyou have your setup. The blocks do have two settings, instrument and line. If you are not getting anything from the blocks, and you're on the line setting, switch it to mic. That may work. Really the easiest way is to get a cheap mixer and put your devices into that then take the output of the mixer to your monitors. This would work https://www.amazon.com/Moukey-Low-Noise-Sub-Mixing-Microphones-Mixer-MAMX1/dp/B08393DLGV/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=audio+mixer&psr=PDAY&qid=1689178484&s=prime-day&sr=1-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1&m=AUQEMPZJWU2GJ&SPES=1 The output is TRS so you may need some adapters for this particular one to work

    XLR Noise

Not sure if this even applies but are you also hooked up to something via your Helix's USB port at the same time? I've found that creates noise. If you are connected to anything via USB, unplug it and see if that solves it. Try the ground lift as was suggested before. One other thing that occurs to me, I've occasionally run across a situation where the XLR cables were wired differently. Very rare but it has happened. Are you using the same XLR cables for everything? If so, that's another thing you might try i.e. a different XLR cable. You may have already done that. Otherwise, I'm stumped.
  17. You can do the update in different ways. The best way is through HX Edit which is up to version 3.61 so you may need to upgrade your edit program. I'm surprised you weren't prompted to backup everything. I would do that now. Do a full backup after you upgrade your HX Edit. Then do a full factory reset which is holding down footswitches 9 & 10 (the two middle switches on the bottom row). Then restore your backup. Save the factory presets before you do if you want to. It should start the "rebuilding" process which makes all of your old patches comply with the new firmware. This will happn anytime you load an old preset. Click on the link on the very top if you need more info.
  18. Contact cleaner does it again. With that, duct tape and a hammer, you can fix anything. If you can't, it can't be fixed.
  19. Not sure if this will do anything but if you have some Deoxit D5 https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2JXN83RXV0EW9&keywords=deoxit&qid=1688052672&sprefix=deoxi%2Caps%2C383&sr=8-3 or something like it, put a spritz of it in there. Maybe even just do a puff of compressed air into the ouput.
  20. I thought Nexus 7's came with a belly button in order to enhance the illusion. Your talking about Nexus 6. don't know if there was a Nexus 6 version of Rachael.
  21. Not totally sure I understand this but, if you want to have both the magnetics and the models on one path, you can create two inputs on each path making a total of 4 inputs if you want. I can't remember how to do this and I'm not at home but it involves clicking and dragging either a split point, block or the input down like what you would do. I've done this so I have an acoustic model on one path and the Variax's magnetic pickups on the other. It's pretty cool. This video should tell you all you need to know.
  22. I do understand what you are saying but I would venture to guess that a pro, no matter what free gear they get, uses what they like regularly. So the YouTube "here's my live rig" videos would show what they actually use as opposed to what they've been given for free.

    .HIR Files

You can often get the IR's in the Marketplace directly from the vendors. When you do that, you can often get the IR's in the WAV format that you can use in any device.
  24. I'm stumped then. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
  25. Did you do a full factory reset after doing the update? If you didn't, back up your whole HX Stomp; patches, IR's, Global settings, etc. and then do the full factory reset. When you restore the old patches, it should take awhile to boot up while it rebuilds them to comply with the new firmware so don't let that worry you.
