I hear that the development of a silent tap-tempo switch is #2 on their to-do list, right after getting rid of the hideous black FAQ bar over there --->...;)
-
Just as long a it doesn't wave FAQ's in my face, constantly jittering up and down on the side of the screen...
-
Not for me it doesn't...at least not for mobile versions, anyway. Tried 2 different browsers, both running ad blockers, and this thing is still emblazoned across every page.
-
Because it's new... and new is awesome. Accept the new!
-
lmao... and just in case this wasn't irritating enough, the Helix forum is now the only one I can get into, because I had it bookmarked. When I go to the main forum page, instead of the usual list of sub-forums the only option I'm given is the "Dream Rig" forum... everything else has vanished. Think I'm about done... perhaps I'll give it a go in a month or two. Maybe by then they'll have fixed some of this nonsense.

L6's response to a FOIL request regarding the new forum software? ;)
-
Lol...I think it would actually be less annoying if someone were dispatched to stand beside me, and poke me with a stick every time I logged on...
-
Of course not... all things "new" are automatically awesome. More stuff is... well it's more, isn't it? Actually, "more" is even better than "new". And when we get more and new simultaneously... well, I can hardly contain myself. #More new! More new! More new!
-
Of course it doesn't... if it "had" to be there, it would have showed up on day one of our glorious new environment, but it didn't. It was added later because somebody, somewhere said : "Look what I found... what a swell idea!", and turned it on.

Because the world is such that most people are now in the habit of moving faster than they think. It's the inevitable consequence of a society that values instant gratification above all else. "Look before you leap" no longer exists, and we've collectively decided that anything that isn't in a constant state of flux is no longer of any value.... hence the ridiculous compulsion to try and reinvent the wheel at every turn (and for us, the incessant whining if it's been more than 11 minutes since the last firmware update ;) ). On a long enough timeline, it's gonna come back to bite us all in the a$$....
-
You don't! Please enjoy the new "feature"... repeatedly. Brought to you by L6's Department of Redundancy Department...lol ;) Coming soon: Belch or fart sound effects every time you post something. And yes, you will have to choose one or the other, and it cannot be tuned off. Long live the new forum! BWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

JTV 69 - String Change
cruisinon2 replied to jkilgour's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
wow.... lol -
I'm starting to think the goal is to drive everybody over to TGP... most of the L6 guys seem to live there already, anyway... lol I do have one request though... if there is to be an obtrusive and useless bar on the left side of the screen too, I'd like it to be hot pink. ;)
-
It's not a "defect", it's a "feature"... lol
-
Congratulations! You're the first guy to ever show up here asking for a product with fewer features.... and probably the last, lol. ;)

Sometime circa 1995, I placed a classified ad to unload an '86 Z28... just got a call about it yesterday., yet the ad was listed with a phone number I haven't had for 20+ years... no idea how the guy found me. What are the odds? ;)
-
Yeah that's delightful, isn't it? Just keep piling on the redundancy...do we really need to be smacked in the crotch with the FAQ list on EVERY page of the forum? It's getting comical now. One step forward, two steps back... I'm not delusional enough to think that it's of any significance to the powers that be, but if that doesn't go away post-haste, then I'm done trying to navigate this craptastic new layout. I draw the line at having to guess at words someone has written. Half the time you need the Rosetta Stone to decipher what somebody is attempting to say anyway, and that's when you can actually see the entire sentence. This is officially a joke now...

Though...if any "worthy" folks should chance upon this thread, please set up a poll asking if anyone actually cares about polls...I gotta know. ;)

I've never owned high impedance cans...I'm using AKG 701's at present, which are all of 55 ohms. I'm direct monitoring from a Focusrite interface, and the only time I've ever had any clipping is if I was also listening back to recorded tracks from the DAW, and those output levels were a little too hot... but I can crank the final headphone out on the Focusrite to a point where the volume will become unpleasant long before clipping sets in. I suppose if one were to use really crappy, super low impedance cans or ear buds, clipping may be more of an issue at lower volumes, but its never been a problem for me.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm unworthy of lots of things...;)

Saving preset to a new location without overwriting name
cruisinon2 replied to Halloumikev's topic in Helix
Not trying to be argumentative, but I'm not sure I understand why this would be a helpful feature. Honestly, if this were Helix's default behavior, it would drive me insane. I move patches around all the time... but if the names didn't travel with them, after a few maneuvers, I'd have no idea what's what. Maybe is it me... -
Unless it was a patch you were in love with... which would be a first for a factory preset...I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. You're gonna find that creating your own patches is really the only way to get the sounds you're looking for. Factory patches are mostly terrible...

JTV 59 with small amp
cruisinon2 replied to scrapy's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
An absolute and unequivocal "no"... electric guitar amps have a very narrow frequency response, far too narrow to reproduce convincing acoustic tones. If you were to plug an actual acoustic guitar through that amp, or any other electric guitar amp for that matter, it's gonna sound terrible, essentially like a clean electric...but an anemic one. An FRFR speaker is a necessity if your primary reason for getting the Variax is the acoustic models.
