That's all well and good... but it doesn't change the fact that you continue to make your case in the wrong place. Repeatedly calling Chevy to complain about your BMW's engine trouble, is an exercise in futility. Nobody here can help you. The ones who may be able to help, should they decide to divulge the info you seek, are elsewhere.

If you're running enough horsepower, latency really shouldn't be an issue. Native works just fine for me.... and I dare not delve into a Linux discussion. If aggravation is your thing, then by all means, enjoy! I will occasionally fire up the GPS to navigate out of the living room, myself...;)

Imho, WHEN the last post appeared is more useful than whomever is responsible for it... but we don't have that anymore either. Underneath the thread title all we get is when the OP originally appeared. Who cares? There are threads that go on for weeks or months...to say nothing of the zombie threads that get resurrected after years, sometimes. At a glance it should be obvious if there's anything new...it's useless like this. If I may be permitted a condensed, "Reader's Digest assessment": The new version rots...

Forum suicides are nothing new...just enough "woe is me" to qualify for the overwrought, distressed Southern Belle motif, but punctuated by a good old fashioned "Harrumph!" and storm-off, instead of the hanky-waving emotional collapse, lol. I think of it as the digital equivalent of the "taking a dump on your boss' desk on your last day" fantasy... ;)

Instead of butchering your unit, why not just get Native for $100?

Less user friendly, ugly as sin, everything looks the same, visual "noise" everywhere, and chronology often non-existent...I don't need 75 "key words" under every thread title, and I definitely don't need to scroll past the same thread more than once. But now we have to wade through the "questions with no answers", as well as the "popular" ones, only to encounter the same friggin' topic a few threads below. Redundancy is forever useless....

Piezo Maintenance and Repair
cruisinon2 replied to dethpoi's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Don't think anybody's gonna be able to predict that for you... worry about it if/when it starts acting weird. -
The real question is, is it as bad as the tuner? oops...

Considering JTV 89 vs Evertune
cruisinon2 replied to Phrankenstrat's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
No, not even close...Evertune is it's own thing entirely, and there is nothing even remotely similar in the Variax world. -
Well it's a mystery to me....my tone only sounds scooped if I've scooped it...
-
No... but I've got swell ones for Charlie, Dave, and Phil....:)

"Very good cables" are a marketing invention... and resistance only really becomes an issue if you're trying to pump a signal over very long distances...the 10 feet from Helix to your amp won't matter. Any old 1/4" instrument cable will work just fine. And as far as the sound is concerned, anybody who tells you they can tell the difference between any two 1/4" cables, is full of $hit. I have cables that are 20 years old...gun to my head, I couldn't distinguish them from one that I bought yesterday.

Well that's it then, I'm done buying stuff as clearly no one, anywhere, could possibly be on the level. Of course that means that Fremen The Great cannot be trusted either, after all he's selling stuff too, isn't he? Such a shame you were robbed like that.. Gotta go... places to go, checksums to do.

Anyone use headphone out + bluetooth transmitter = In ear monitors?
cruisinon2 replied to khall187's topic in Helix
Depends on your definition of "cheap"... and generally speaking, you get what you pay for. Cheap usually sounds like $hit... -
Anyone use headphone out + bluetooth transmitter = In ear monitors?
cruisinon2 replied to khall187's topic in Helix
Typical Bluetooth latency is horrible... sometimes as much as 500ms. Totally unusable for this application. -
Whatever it is, nobody from L6 is gonna answer you in here... this is a user forum. Open a support ticket... that they'll respond to.

Adding a trem to an 89 non F
cruisinon2 replied to sketchers356's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
There's no way to do what you want efficiently or cost effectively... and even if you manage to pull it off, the sonic results are very likely to be sub-par. Just return it, and get the guitar you want. You can't turn an apple into an orange. -
You don't know what your missing man... if I don't have at least one MD5 file checksum with my first cup of coffee, my whole day is gonna suck. :)
-
And you base this conclusion on what exactly? Because only Fremen The Magnificent could possibly undertake such a Herculean task? Ugh....
-
I understand you just fine...my point is that you continue to harp on finding obscure info that will not help you in the long run. You said you want fewer things to tweak... so if you don't want to mess with those parameters, don't. It's not required...pretend it's a "real" amp, where the bias is not only an unknown, but a fixed entity which can't be manipulated anyway. In the end, it either sounds good, or it doesn't. And if you ARE satisfied having created tones that you like, then who cares where the bias (or anything else for that matter) is set? If you found out tomorrow that the default values in question were all wildly inaccurate compared to their real world counterparts, are you gonna go change them all, screwing up tones that you were otherwise happy with? Why...to claim "authenticity"? You're making things harder than they need to be.

Switching from clean to dirt will be abrupt and jarring to the ears until the end of time, no matter how "perfect" snapshots get, or whatever nifty tech feature eventually replaces them.... same as it's always been with channel switching amps. If you want a smooth transition, you'll have to fade one out, and the other in with the expression pedal as others have said.
-
If, by your own admission, you don't know what the "real" amps are supposed to sound like, then the peace of mind you're looking for will remain forever elusive, because you'll never actually know if you've achieved it anyway. Stop worrying about where any one parameter should be... there is no magic formula with this stuff. When it sounds good to your ears, that's where it "should" be.
