  1. I dragged racks, power amps, and cabinets around for more than 2 decades...I'm done with that, lol. Besides, live I run an L2T as a monitor, and straight to FOH...where am I gonna put a rack unit? In a box on the floor...that being the case, may as well have everything self-contained. At home it all goes through a laptop and studio monitors, and I use HD Edit...I almost never touch anything on the unit itself that isn't a footswitch or the expression pedal.
  2. And it's as good as the tuner! BWUHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!😂😉
  3. That might be easier said than done no matter who you're buying it from... once prices go up, they seldom come down. As people demand more and more things be squeezed into each box, the $500 price point becomes more and more of an endangered species...
  4. The channel on your DAW has to have an input level control somewhere...
  5. I would have liked a cable to come with mine too, but you gotta think like a company...what "makes sense" for them is to spend as little as possible, while getting you to buy something else for 30 bucks. They can't assume that the majority of Variax owners also own another compatible L6 device to plug it into...some do, some don't...and as such, this is not likely to make it past the bean counters. From their perspective, they'd be wasting a bunch of money on cables that would never get used.
  6. Oh this just keeps getting better....great show in here today. 😂ðŸ˜ðŸ˜†ðŸ¤£
  7. He's not even here at present, yet he's got you guys at each other's throats. Which is precisely the intent most of the time: to sow discord, and try and make everyone he interacts with just as miserable as he is. Who knew the "Russian troll farm" had an amp modeling division? 😉 I'm starting to think this guy might actually be a genius...he smacks everyone in the face with a giant metaphorical d***o, then stands back and counts how many people line up to suck. Game, set, match to the president of the Andy Summers Fan Club...comedy gold, gents! 😂
  8. The footprint really isn't much of an issue...slightly bigger than the POD, but after a day or two, it won't bother you. And while you might not "need" the scribble strips, per se...they are quite useful. No guesswork, you know exactly what you've assigned to a given footswitch. I'm old...I don't wanna have to remember where I put the delay, or which snapshot is which, lol. No need for adhesive labels, or those clumsy magnet labels that I've seen hawked for the POD.
  9. Ridiculous!!! Blah, blah...(Righteous Indignation)... how dare they?!?!?!?!?!..Blah, blah...It's been years, and they still can't get their $hit together...(more righteous indignation)... feel my pain. "Huh? I'm reading a thread that started more than 2 years ago and ranting about a problem that no longer exists?" Oops... lmao. 😂
  10. It's very easy to get a distorted perception of failure rates by frequenting online forums. Most owners of any given product don't show up in forums at all, whether they have problems or not. And a good portion of those who do appear, are doing so because they have an issue they're trying to solve...or they just like to complain, and are seeking an audience for their tale of woe. Either way, it simply isn't possible to get a genuine sense of how often something breaks by listening only to internet griping, 'cause the happy ones ain't stopping by to tell you how wonderful things are. What's my point? If you want the full Helix and you have the means, get it. Don't settle for the LT because you're afraid the scribble strips won't work. It's like giving up the deal of a lifetime on the car you've always wanted because you're afraid the rear window defroster might stop working one day...
  11. As it should, lol...hold the pedal in place, then loosen the nut a bit...
  12. Yes...the VDI cable cannot suck power out of the air. Leaving it dangling from the guitar won't do much... not to mention making it rather difficult to hear if it's not connected to anything. 😂
  13. Nobody wants gear that doesn't work, but the powers that be will not answer you in here. Everybody here is a customer, too. You actually have to contact customer support...this ain't it.
  14. Indeed. My "if it's too loud, you're too old" days are long gone. I've been gigging since I was 16...nearly 30 years ago (jeez that's depressing, lol) and I remained immortal, and without earplugs until about 25 when the first signs of tinnitus started to appear...haven't stepped on stage, or gone to a show without them since. Thankfully it never got worse...only detectable in especially quiet environments, which I don't find myself in much, lol. Its no joke though... even a lot of symphony musicians and pit orchestra players end up with hearing loss, and that's without a roaring 100W amp behind them and crash cymbals 4 feet from their heads.
  15. Understandable...it will forever be a gamble, no matter what the demos sound like. Not a great analogy, imho... When you buy a true custom instrument...and I mean the kind of thing made by a skilled craftsman for whom it's a labor of love, making a handful of instruments each year... you get EXACTLY what you specify. By contrast, buying patches in bulk, upwards of 200 in this case, in the hopes that a small percentage turn out to be useful, is not exactly what I'd call a "custom" experience. It's throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall and praying that something sticks, and is far closer to the factory guitar anointed as "custom" because it's available in chartreuse with mauve binding, or because it's got a famous name scrawled on the headstock. But as always, ymmv.
  16. Who cares about him? I hate that my Helix can't produce an acceptable bassoon tone...😂
  17. Not a clue, but the powers that be have repeatedly said that the "improvements" were circuit-level stuff, of interest only to the Geek Patrol. Functionally and sonically, if someone handed you one of each, it's highly unlikely that you'd be able to tell them apart.
  18. Piezo outputs vary...the string volume controls exist so that you can balance out volume discrepancies from string to string. Leaving them all maxed out isn't gonna help...lower the others a bit until you can't hear the difference anymore. Almost all of us have had to do this... you may also notice that some of the models display the problem worse than others (especially the "Spank"), thus using the global string volumes is not necessarily the best way to fix it. You may have to make different adjustments for individual models, then save them to the guitar.
  19. WHAT?!?!?!?!???!😠I wonder if creating tones will get easier or harder, as we all get progressively deaf...😉
  20. Try that IR with the JTV acoustic models...I've been using a Martin D45 IR with the J200 model. Results are surprisingly good.
  21. I'm not sure divine intervention would have made any difference in that instance...😉
  22. His videos are interesting...I've applied some of his ideas to a couple of 3 Sigma IR's that I already had sounding pretty good...tightened them up nicely. But I find that doing the same with the stock cabs resulted in a much more nasal, mid-rangey tone that I didn't care for at all. Different guitar, monitors, etc... Just more evidence of how individual all this stuff is. Try it all and see what works folks...you can duplicate somebody else's settings all day long and get radically different results.
  23. "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded"...😉
