Lol... yes, the grass is always greener. But eventually you're gonna reach a point of diminishing returns. How much "better" can tone get? It can't go on improving indefinitely. Actually, I'll argue that the longer you tweak, the worse things tend to get...especially when your ears start to get tired. As nice as options are, too many can become paralyzing. We've got an insane number of amp/cab combinations as it is, just with the stock ones...add 3rd party IR's, and it becomes almost infinite. If 128 slots isn't enough, you need an intervention ;) ...how many are actually in use regularly, and how often can one possibly need to switch between them? And half the time the differences are so subtle from one to the next, that you'd hardly be able able to tell them apart in a mix. We'd all grow old and die before we work through all possible combinations looking for that one "magic" tone. At some point you have to stop tweaking and play the thing...

The best way to run stereo live is to NOT run stereo live. In headphones, or through studio monitors, stereo can be magnificent. Live, it's a $h*tstorm. With the set-up you describe, half the room will hear one amp tone, and the other half, the second amp. Weird phase things can happen, depending on the room. Same for effects...with stereo delays getting especially strange depending on where you're standing. The only pair of ears that's gonna hear everything the way you'd want it, belong to the one guy who happens to be standing dead center between the mains. Dont try and run stereo live...it is SO not worth the hassle. Just my 2 cents...

I got exhausted halfway through that... lol If you have Helix, what do you want with Guitar Rig anyway? I've tried it... wasn't impressed.

Well all the sites that made it an unholy pain in the a$$ to make purchases went out of business... go figure? ;)

Is there a detailed description for the new reverbs somewhere?
cruisinon2 replied to revolver1010's topic in Helix
Fair enough...to each, their own. We're all entitled to our opinions. I do have one question though: If reverb+modulation= "good feeling reverberation", what's the recipe for a "$h*tty, repressive, weight of the world on my shoulders" reverb? It would be perfect for covering "Dust In The Wind" ;) -
I agree that a polyphonic pitch shifter would be nice...but the current one was never advertised as such, so the artifacts you're hearing aren't the result of a "fault", per se. It's just not designed to shift multiple notes simultaneously.

Hard to say... according to the spec sheet it's 250W peak, not RMS. If your drummer's an animal, or the whole band just enjoys trying to set off the seismographs at Cal Tech, it might be a little underpowered...;)

Oh, I'm writing that one down... lmao. ;) -
We'll you can't feed it power, but I don't see why you couldn't come out of a head's FX send/preamp out, and then use the cab sims or IR's. I suspect that would be an attractive option for those guys who don't want to give up their beloved tube amps.
-
All the Stagesource stuff is as expensive, if not more...if those things found an audience, I suspect these will too. How much whining do we see from those obsessed with the "amp in the room" thing? IF this thing does what it claims, all those guys should be out of excuses.

As far as I can tell, $599 won't even get you the IR's... that's the 112 Plus @ $799. But if you're using Helix, the IR loading capability is redundant anyway. Just use them in Helix, run this thing in its "flat mode", and you've accomplished the same thing. $599 ain't cheap... but it's less than I paid for my L2T. I'm sure they'll sell a bunch.

Precisely... in other words, it's pointless. -

Wow...BS overload, I nearly passed out. ;) Descriptions are lovely and all, but beyond providing reading material while I'm sitting on the can, what am I supposed to glean from any of that nonsense? At the end of the day, " resplendent, unearthly ambience" and "majestic splendor" that "obscures the distinction between reality and fantasy" conveys what, exactly? Flowery vocabulary contributes nothing to any genuine understanding of what a given reverb (or anything else, for that matter) will actually sound like, to say nothing of whether or not it will be pleasing to the ear, or useful for one's needs...only LISTENING to it will determine that. Using that many words to say nothing is worthy of a wine enthusiast blog...I can read about the "woody, complex, rounded, and velvety nose" of Chateaux Rain Gutter all day long...but if I want to know what it tastes like, I'll actually have to buy a bottle and take a swig. -
We already know the answer to that...it's hard to see what's going on here from way over at TGP. ;)

This approach is not gonna work very well. Nobody is gonna be able to guess at settings based on a screenshot of a signal chain... and even if you had the settings, they're for a different device... this is a non- starter. If you don't want to try and create your own patch, then check for Petrucci stuff on Customtone... though in my experience, that's also a long wait for a train that ain't coming. If you really want to learn how to tone-match, you have to experiment. Start with models of gear that he uses... various Boogie amps and cabs, or other high gain amp models that might yield a similar tone. Get a basic tone first before you start worrying about FX.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "piezo plink". Search the JTV forum...the problem is not peculiar to the Standards. There are enough Biblical-length threads on this topic to keep you reading for weeks.

In the first place, this is a user forum... nobody here has access to that level of insider info. And second, it's highly unlikely that anybody from L6 would divulge that information anyway, even if you contacted them directly...you might get lucky, but generally they tend to be tight-lipped about the time of day. What is certain, is that nobody official will answer that question in here. On an unrelated note, I wish you the best of luck navigating the realm of corrupt "retail" and postal establishments that evidently festoon the landscape in which you reside...may you get a better price from the guy driving the truck that your LT eventually falls off of... lmao ;)

Lol...Ok I surrender, as this is now rapidly becoming a contest to see who can come up with the more comical interpretation of somebody else's post. But for the record, I never said a blessed thing about anyone's "motives". I said that it's quite likely that they already know about the issue, and therefore formal "notification" wouldn't accomplish much. No more, no less. If I'm mistaken about that, and they were all blissfully unaware of all of this until just minutes ago, so be it...

I haven't a clue what you think I meant, but "the powers that be" is nothing more than a catchy phrase for "the people in charge"...I would assume that somebody, perhaps several folks, fit that description, as it relates to the forums. I'm also reasonably certain that whomever they are, they're probably NOT oblivious to the fact that the redesign, and especially the ever-present, twitching FAQ bar, are not exactly what you'd call wildly popular...thus the request to "inform" them through back channels is likely a waste of time. I don't think it's a mystery to them...

I seriously doubt that it would be much of a "revelation" for the powers that be... New good. Old bad. More new! lmao

JTV 89 F + Helix LT
cruisinon2 replied to sherimehmood's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Generally speaking you don't want to use an amp model at all with the JTV's acoustic models. One of the mic pre amp models and a compressor is the way to go. However, your biggest problem is the DT. You're never gonna get a convincing acoustic sound with that amp...or any other "traditional" electric guitar amp, for that matter. FRFR speakers are the only thing that have a wide enough frequency response for acoustic tones. -
Where Was Your Helix Set On First Ever Turn On ?

Variax Pedalboard?
cruisinon2 replied to YvanFortin's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Even if you could get it to function, it's very likely that the models would not sound the same being applied to the signal from a different physical instrument. In other words, ain't worth the trouble... -
