  1. Isn't Graphtech's claim to fame that their piezo sets are balanced to avoid just such a scenario? 🤔 I wish I were an engineer. Seems to me that piezo technology itself needs an enema....
  2. Well there's nothing wrong with asking for additional features, but not everyone goes to the trouble of creating custom models...in fact, I'd argue that many users probably don't. Tweaking the existing models is almost universal I'd say, but the stock ones provide a fairly large tonal palate...there's already way more in there than I use. I fiddled with creating a custom model or two early on out of curiosity, but never found the need to be constantly mixing and matching everything that's available. I spend enough time tweaking as it is, so this particular feature wouldn't be of much use to me. But as always, ymmv.
  3. You can't A/B one against another, but you can fiddle with one at a time and tweak to your heart's content without saving it to the guitar, until you're happy with it. That's what I meant.
  4. If you're connected through a POD, Helix, etc, you can audition custom models all day long before you flash them to the guitar.
  5. The modeling will hopefully evolve and improve, but I don't foresee any quantum leaps in guitar quality for the Standards as long keep shoving the guts into a Pacifica body...
  6. I've never seen an "other gear"section around here...
  7. I assume you mean you want to play harmonized lines...use the "smart harmony" modulation effect. Choose the key signature and the interval you want to hear, either above or below the note you're playing. That's really it...I find it works best after the amp model, but before any delays or reverb, but move it around in the signal chain and see where it weeks best for you.
  8. Lol...this is turning into one of the funnier threads in recent memory. 😂
  9. You can't... in position 4, you're gonna hear a Tele with a humbucker in the neck position. Position 2 will give you that same guitar with a humbucker on the bridge. There's no need to create any custom models, because you'd just be duplicating what's already there. There's only one Tele body to choose, and either the neck or bridge wide range Tele humbucker models... but that's exactly what you've already got.
  10. Labels notwithstanding, there's only 1 Tele model in there. Same with the Strat. It's all the same modeled guitar...each switch position is just different a different pickup, or pickup combo. Positions 1,3, and 5 are just like the real thing...a standard Tele with single coils and a 3-position switch. Positions 2 and 4 are the same modeled guitar, but with humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions, respectively. Some of the others, like the LP, they actually modeled two different guitars, each with different pickups. It's a little confusing at first...
  11. How you like THEM apples? ;)
  12. Oh, relax. The little smiley face means "just goofing around"...may you sell a million downloads and retire early.
  13. ...and the guy who really enjoyed his Psych 101 course 27 years ago, and proceeds to "diagnose" (with overly broad, slow news day AP article-style psychobabble) every poor schmuck who wanderers up to his window at the DMV. ;)
  14. It's only an "issue" if you're looking for more consistency than that...there are numerous cover band guys who use a different patch for every tune, trying to emulate a specific guitar tone for each song. It just depends on what your goal is...
  15. It also doesn't come with broccoli florets, an air filter, or Vagisil...I want my money back. ;)
  16. Everybody's been wondering about this phenomenon. Including the folks who built the thing, as you can see from their "final word" on the subject...which is essentially, "yeah it happens". One of two things needs to happen if this is ever to be solved to anyone's satisfaction. Either there needs to be some magic algorithm to better filter out the "plink" or "clang", or whatever you wish to call it, or somebody has to invent some other way of isolating the signal from each individual string that doesn't rely on physical contact with the string itself. Personally I don't think we'll see either of those things anytime soon.
  17. Happy reading! And good luck. It's a known issue with no universal solution. You might be able to mitigate it to some extent with the various "fixes" offered in the first link below, but the bottom line is, don't expect a miraculous turnaround from any of them. Some guitars do it, some don't...same goes for the remedies. Success rates vary widely from one afflicted instrument to the next. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/guitars/james-tyler-variax-guitars/clang-tone-on-variax-guitars-r863 http://line6.com/support/topic/6764-do-you-have-the-same-problem-with-6th-string/page-23?do=findComment&comment=218091
  18. Bridge: Duncan Parallel Axis Middle: Joe Barden...I forget the the model Neck: Don't laugh...I pulled it out of an old Carvin guitar that I bought second hand years ago cause it has a great sound, but I haven't a clue what it is, lol.
  19. There's one in this old thread... you'll have to scroll down to it http://line6.com/support/topic/27641-ot-something-new-to-plug-into-the-helix/?fromsearch=1 Don't have any others handy at the moment, but this will give you an idea.
  20. It's extraordinarily unlikely that you will be able to get by without using Workbench at all. Even if you have no intention of creating any custom models, you're gonna find the need to tweak some of the stock ones whether you like it or not. Piezo outputs vary, as do the relative volumes of some of the modeled guitars. The need to balance individual string volumes of certain models (especially the Strat) is pretty much inevitable. But you don't need another L6 product to do it... Just use the USB dongle that comes with the guitar.
  21. Are you going into the front end of the amp, or into an FX return? What about the headphone output... do you get any sound that way?
  22. "Open Box" is Latin for "Run! Don't buy this!" ;). Whomever had it first probably didn't read the update instructions and screwed it up, resulting in the expensive paperweight you bought. Take it back...
