JTV-69s Gold sparkle USA

Which makes you wonder why those designs exist...makes no sense -
Yep. Just like every other sale in the universe... Good Lord, this is a stupid discussion. ;)

I will never understand designs that require removing the neck to adjust the truss rod. It's just plain stupid...and it turns a 1.4 second adjustment into a ten minute odyssey. Plus, you might end up having to do it several times over a couple of days, as you make adjustments and the neck settles into it's new position(s). Over time, repeatedly taking the neck on and off is gonna strip the threads in one or more of those holes. I've been there...then it's gotta be doweled and re-drilled. Doesn't do the neck or the strings themselves any favors either, having tension go back and forth from zero to 100+lbs (depending on the guage) repeatedly. And it's sll wildly unnecessary, if they'd just put the damn screw at the headstock, or the side adjustment screw at the heel. -

Depends on where the access is...some have it at the headstock, others at the heel, which may or may not require removing the neck...some designs, such as Warmoth's "modern construction" necks have the screw at the heel, but on the side of the neck so removal isn't required. If there's no access hole at the headstock, you'll probably be removing the neck. Tread cautiously if you're unfamiliar with truss rod adjustments... -

Is GC "guitarded"? You ever set foot in one? I've had more intelligent conversations with the residents of the primate habitat at the Bronx Zoo... Well you said it's used...I see one of two possible scenarios here: 1)The Rhodes Scholar who took it in and/or priced it before it went out on the floor didn't know what he was looking at, probably doesn't know that the made-to-order US versions even exist, much less that new ones sell for nearly $4K (which is wildly absurd for what you're actually getting, but that's another discussion entirely). Or 2) Whomever sold it to GC that day had stolen it, also didn't know what he had in his hands, and all parties concerned were assuming it to be the Korean version. In short, if it actually is US version, then yes...it's a steal as far as the price is concerned. Personally though, I'm skeptical that the US ones are actually worth more than 4x the cost of the Korean versions. -
There's never advanced word of ANY product updates...just the way L6 operates. "It'll get here when it gets here" is the only definitive answer, unfortunately.

Well we'll just have to agree to disagree. I've witnessed the same crowded room cheer for absolute garbage, and ignore polished talent an hour later. The "general public" is as dumb as a bag of hammers...want proof? Look at the people we elect to run this country, but I digress. Most people you meet couldn't find their own a$$ with both hands and a hunting dog. They like what they're told to like...which is divided fairly evenly between push-button DJ's, and lip syncing "artists", gyrating like they've just run out of seizure medication.

Sweetwater 36month financing; today till Sept.6

What a time we're living in. I can be irritated by a live jam band without getting off the couch! If you could get a couple of guys to sell bongs in your driveway beforehand, the experience would be complete...;) -
I hear ya. Giraffes are cool too...doesn't mean I want one in the house, though. ;)

Doubt there's anything different besides the trem...the JTVs seem to be in a holding pattern as far as any updates/improvements are concerned. Hasn't even been a firmware update in quite some time. They're a VERY niche product, with a limited audience...L6's efforts are clearly directed elsewhere at the moment.

I have an L2T, and I love it. Live, I use it as a floor monitor for my stage volume, and run straight from the POD to the PA. They ain't cheap though, and there are a bunch of less expensive options out there that will give you similar results. As far as integration is concerned, yes there are certain settings on the L2T that can be controlled via the POD using their L6 Link cable, such as the L2T's output mode (PA, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, floor monitor etc etc). They're nice features to have, but not essential. You can get good tones spending a lot less money.

The "real amp" vs. FRFR debate will never end. They both have their merits, and you can get good results either way. It really boils down to how you intend to use the gear, and how much of a "purist" you are. If you can't bear the thought of not having a tube amp driving a cabinet, then look at the DT amps. On the other hand, if you intend to use any of the acoustic models in the Variax, then you really need an FRFR rig capable of producing the frequency range of an acoustic guitar. If you try and use them through a traditional guitar amp with the limited frequency response that they ALL have, the results are disappointing...almost useless. Also, if you intend to run the POD straight to a PA, and you want the tone you hear on stage to be the same thing the audience hears out front, FRFR is really the only way to achieve that. The same patch running through a PA and a guitar amp are gonna sound VERY different.

Hmmm...Some FX loops are definitely noisy. Having used the 500X for years, I can attest to that. I'm curious why they choose to stick a tube in the FX loop. Never seen that before, or maybe I just didn't notice other amps similarly equipped? That's a great little amp though, isn't it? Stupid loud. I recorded an entire album with one about a year ago...it was the studio's amp, and we were recording dry, so I can't say of the FX loop was noisy or not...

No, it doesn't matter in the slightest...which was precisely was my point. It's a topic that's been beaten to death any number of times, and is about as productive as a "tastes great/less filling" Miller Lite debate. Both sides think they're "right", and neither one will ever convince the other of anything. It's like arguing over which one of the Menendez brothers you like better...

Theres nothing to do but audition 1 at a time until you find a tone you like...
-
Unfortunately, yes. Even saw one in PA once that didn't sell any booze, but allowed BYOB. Very weird...the world is a strange place. ;)

This is a user forum. While L6 employees occasionally chime in, he isn't one of them. 99.97% of the folks who post here are not affiliated with the company at all.

the recording tone is different from the tone i heard from headphone
cruisinon2 replied to wuslash's topic in POD HD
I'm not familiar with the 300...I've got the 500X, but if you're talking about a mid-boost EQ, you may as well ditch it anyway, because it ain't doing much. There are NO mids in that tone. Get the tone as close to what you want on the POD, and record your track. Once you start adding other instruments, you'll almost always have to do some EQing in the DAW anyway...there will always be some competition between instruments where frequency ranges overlap, it's a balancing act. The way your tone sounds by itself is not necessarily what the final product will sound like in a mix. Nip,tuck,repeat... -
I like sales as much as the next guy, and I'm about the farthest thing from independently wealthy that there is...but this is hardly high-finance. 30% off a $50 model pack is a difference of $15. That's two beers, plus a tip...how many times have you thrown thrown that down on a bar without thinking?
