  1. Well its a very scooped tone...hardly any mids at all, a very boomy low end, and a little harsh on top. It will all but disappear in a mix. A low cut filter would be a good place to start 100-120 Hz. Pulling out some highs wouldn't hurt either, then see what you've got. Once you've gotten rid of the boomy low end and some of the brittle highs, the mids should become more prominent.
  2. Another ancient thread unearthed! REWIND! REWIND! Apologies to the digital generation who have no idea what rewinding is/was...;)
  3. I'm prepared to accept all that as Gospel. Since all of this is Greek to me anyway, I'm really in no position to refute anything you've said...however, that's not really the point. L6 has a long and glorious history of refusing to tell you what time it is, never mind discussing how they actually go about doing what they do. Whether or not something is actually "proprietary" or not, is basically irrelevant. They're simply not going to tell you. This forum is replete with examples of official refusals to discuss any number of things that could hardly be considered state secrets, yet tight-lipped they remain, usually blaming it on lawyers. My personal favorite is the refusal to divulge the recommended pickup height for the Variax guitars. Basic operating instructions so that a customer can get optimal results from a product...denied! Awesome. 👠Not exactly 007 kinda sh*t, but confidential it remains nonetheless. This post will self-destruct in five minutes...;)
  4. The overwhelming majority sing it's praises from dawn till dusk...most of the detractors seem to be the sort who think that anything that costs $1500 should (in addition to providing instant tonal nirvana) rid their lawn of crabgrass, and let them talk to the dead via USB...;)
  5. You're just not smart enough to get it... Duuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh. ;)
  6. They won't even tell you the color of the tile in the crappers at corporate HQ...L6 generally considers just about everything "proprietary info". You've got better odds of being struck by lightning in a subterranean cavern, than getting them to divulge the "good stuff".
  7. No, I'm using an L2T...no complaints. But using the FX return (on any amp) frees you from worrying about where the amp's tone controls are set, because you're bypassing them...dimed out, or at zero makes no difference. The tone is coming from Helix, and you're only using the amp for power. In my experience, you get far better results this way. Why spend all that time tweaking your patches, only to have it all unraveled by another amp's tone controls?
  8. Not until you've been properly evaluated. You may not be smart enough to be trusted with ketchup...😩
  9. The front of the amp is expecting an instrument level signal. If you're going into the FX return (which is generally the better option for numerous reasons, imho), then you'd want line level.
  10. Yup. It also explains why the folks who designed the damn thing ran up the white flag and surrendered. Seems nobody knows what's going on...
  11. It does kinda suck to have multiple levels of aggravation...first you can't find what you want, and then the alleged "Awesome Ritchie Blackmore patch" ends up sounding like the Ramones...;)
  12. Well clearly not, unless of course the spectrum analyzer happens to agree. Only then are you truly worthy. ;)
  13. That's all well and good, except for one thing: The OP BEGAN this discussion with name calling, and belittling anyone whom he had pre-judged to be too dim to comprehend his mastery of the physics of sound. What exactly is supposed to endear him to me under those circumstances? You don't get to cry foul when someone calls you out for being a sanctimonious a$$.
  14. You can run into the front of anything...but it's usually a noisy mess. Sending an amp model, complete with fx and EQ into the preamp section of any amp with another tone stack is a sh*t-show 9/10 times. If that amp has an FX loop, use it, or look for other amplification options. Just my 2 cents.
  15. Wow. That's deep. And just how would your brand of armchair psychoanalysis describe someone who begins a "scientific discussion" with thinly veiled insults about others' abilities or intellect, followed by back-pedaling, playing the victim, and pretending to take the high road after the fact? I'll give it a shot...I'd say it displays a sad need for public adulation for being the smartest guy in the room. A classic symptom of the over-abundance of ego, with a healthy dose of inadequacy, and just enough book smarts to be irritating at cocktail parties. But then again, what do I know? I'm just one of the "stupid" ones.
  16. There's a seating chart at OP's gigs that's rigidly enforced. Nobody's allowed to move...they're the most awesome, "scientific" shows ever. As a mere hobbyist, I stand humbled in the presence of greatness. ;)
  17. Why do I feel like I've already seen this movie?
  18. Lol...looks like this thread is digital herpes. It's gonna be with us forever, despite the official proclamation of "Too bad", from on high...;)
  19. That's right folks, tonight and one night only here at the Arrogance Ballroom, it's Satchmo WickedFinger blowing his own horn....
  20. I sympathize, but I think we're both gonna be disappointed on this count. Ours is a disposable economy now...nothing is designed to last 20 years anymore. In fact, I'd argue that it's the polar opposite. Planned obsolescence is the guiding principle of anything technology-based.
