  1. Wow...Mosvalve. Blast from the past. Had one of those things in the rack with an ADA-MP1 for years.
  2. 2 year old strings, even if barely played, will be out-performed by shoelaces. Time to swap them out...
  3. I didn't single out L6 as being any better or worse than anyone else. In fact, I said they took care of the one issue I had. The question isn't what a company does or doesn't do, but rather WHY? Until I see evidence to the contrary, it seems to me that "doing the right thing" is mostly done because "they" (whomever they are) have to, not because they want to. But you're right, the discussion is silly at this point. I give...
  4. Not to put too fine a point on it, but "P3C0L622300012" is only 14 digits...so it seems that it's even worse than you thought, lol. Check the floor...see if these last two rolled to a stop near the first one. ;)
  5. From walking the earth for nearly 50 years and observing (often with disgust) human nature.... And I never said "evil"...self-serving, but not evil. Nobody's twisting a creepy mustache, or tying damsels to railroad tracks. However, there would never have been a need for consumer protection legislation, collective bargaining, or child labor laws if companies were warm and fuzzy, and deeply concerned with acting in everybody else's best interest. If someone hadn't forced their hand, we'd still have 14 yr old kids working in coal mines. Yes things are better than they used to be, but not by accident, and certainly not because the Big Bosses of the world had some sort of spiritual epiphany.
  6. "Everyone else" uses a variety of sizes...there is no standard. It varies from one company to another. Sperzel: 25/64" Planet Waves: 13/32" Most "vintage style" tuners: 11/32"
  7. You can...but it'll probably take a fair amount of "knobulating" before you get there. Sometimes mic/cab combinations that you wouldn't think too use for a certain tone ends up being just what you're looking for. Normal rules don't apply with this stuff... I doubt there's anything wrong with the L3T...FRFR is just a different ballgame. Once you figure or what works for you, dialing in tones will become just as second nature add it was on your old rig.
  8. Truss rod likely needs loosening a bit. 1/8 of a turn at a time, counterclockwise as you're looking end-on at the headstock. It'll need some time to settle in after adjusting. Might take a day or two.
  9. Again...not by choice. Wasn't always that way. Besides what better way to to increases profit margin than never spending a dime on warranty work? If they could, they would. And when I say "they", I mean everybody...not singling anyone out in particular. Then try dealing with a company that's the only game in town. You'll spin your wheels forever and get nowhere. A certain cable TV provider leaps to mind...article after article has been written about their quest to elevate shady business practices and awful customer service to an art form...and they ain't going anywhere.
  10. They've taken care of me too...took 2 tries for the same repair, but it eventually got fixed. The point is, they did it because they had to, not out of the goodness of their hearts. Unchecked, unregulated, and left to their own devices, no company would offer warranties. Or recycle, or appropriately dispose of hazmat materials, or pay overtime, or anything else for that matter. It all cuts into the bottom line...and therfore, somebody has to force them into doing it. I've had conversations on here with folks from other parts of the world, where there's little to no consumer protection, no concept of "implied warranty", where every sale is basically "as is". If it works, great. If not, you're screwed. It's human nature...generally speaking, nobody "does the right thing" until it's mandated by some entity waving a bigger stick. "We" kinda suck as a species...;)
  11. Lmao...Soon this will be a "movement". All we need are some t-shirts, decide what color the little ribbons are gonna be, and figure it where to hold the first annual "Tune-a-thon". I vote for Toledo...;)
  12. What happened to "close enough for rock 'n roll"? ;)
  13. Yes. Joe at the F*** dealership doesn't care about you after you drive off the lot, and nobody at Wh***pool is up nights, wondering if you like your dishwasher. All that matters is whether or not your check cleared. In other words, companies care about the next sale...not the last one, that battle is over. Warranties only exist because consumer protection laws finally came along after enough people got screwed. Sad, but we persevere...
  14. But "resolution" doesn't sound nearly as sexy as "granularity". A $1500 device needs expensive-sounding jargon...;)
  15. This one has always worked for me: accuracy(n): The extent to which a given measurement agrees with the standard value for that measurement. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/accuracy
  16. Hell, an actual wooden acoustic won't sound like what it is if you run it through an electric guitar amp...don't know why anyone would think a modeled one would be any different.
  17. There's a sale every Thursday from 3:18 to 3:42 am...12.4% off. Set an alarm. ;)
  18. I too, am disappointed. Any decent "this tuner sucks" thread should have at least one "my ears are better than yours" post. You guys are slackin'...;)
  19. You can probably find a video of a guy who updated all his firmware, and then suddenly all his shoes were too tight...doesn't mean it's gonna happen to you.
  20. You're already there...just go to the "downloads" section. Everything's in there.
  21. Yes, definitely. ;) Not a clue...I just call mine "red".
  22. I know there are guys doing this who seem to be happy with the results, but a patch tweaked for a FRFR speaker(s) running straight to the PA is gonna sound very different through any "traditional" guitar amp. Having both running at the same time would drive me nuts, but if it works for you, then soldier on!
  23. It's a longstanding gripe (by some) about the models in general that they sound a little "thin". A heavier string guage might improve things a bit, otherwise you're basically left with beefing things up at the amp...
  24. Months or more likely years later in an overly dry environment, sure. But a fretboard ain't gonna shrink enough overnight to make the fret ends poke out. Wood moves slowly. I'm talking about brand-spanking-new sh*tty fretwork...cut, slapped in with a press, and not dressed properly (if at all), on expensive instruments from Big Names who should know better (and likely do, they just don't care). Even without a straight edge, just sighting down the neck of some of these things, looks like tracks on a roller coaster. Seen it a million times, on guitars that hadn't existed long enough for the wood to shrink.
  25. Mass produced factory fretwork just plain sucks. I don't care who's making it...I have seen $3K-$4K (and up) guitars with embarrassing out-of-the-box fretwork. If they're not being seated manually by someone who both knows what they're doing AND actually gives a sh*t about the end result, you're gonna get high frets, sharp ends, and it just won't play well until it's all rectified. I don't get it...it's like putting a set of $69 pizza-cutter spare tires on a Ferrari, trying to do triple-digit speeds, and wondering why it handles like a freight train.
