  1. Exaggerating? No...not remotely. Of course it is subjective, but the dimensions are what they are. For me it's fat where it should be thin, and silly narrow where it should be wide. Fat profile, and a VERY narrow nut width. Smaller than almost anything else you can find hanging on the wall at your local MegaloMusic. The result is rather claustrophobic string spacing for open position chords. Small hands might love it. I couldn't stand it. Off it went after about 6 weeks. Now with a Strat neck, the profile is no longer Louisville Sluggerish, and the nut width is appropriate...not to mention consistent with just about everything else out there (with the exception of ancient/vintage stuff that I have no interest in anyway). Completely different instrument.
  2. Let's see how many of these we can keep going! Pile on, folks! ;)
  3. They might do it eventually, but at the price DI was quoting, it's gonna be prohibitive for all but the most well-heeled players.
  4. And apparently for the bargain basement price of $1K (choke/gasp), it could be yours if the powers that be can drum up enough interest. See the link in the post above...then get a second job. ;)
  5. 500 and 500X are essentially the same device, aside from some slightly more robust foot switches on the 500X. Model packs ain't free. If you didn't like the 500, you're probably not gonna like this one either.
  6. Lmao! Nasty little buggers, ain't they? Worst weekend ever...;)
  7. That stupid dongle is a royal pain in the a$$...do you have a POD? I've always had better luck connecting through that. Just got everything up and running on a new macbook with 10.11.4, no issues. When I have used the dongle, I always had to connect to Monkey first. As long as that worked, Workbench would then recognize the guitar. Going straight to Workbench never seemed to work. Who knows why. .
  8. Quit making sense, will ya? You'll blow the whole mystique, and next thing you know, no one's going to an authorized service center anymore...mass hysteria! ;)
  9. But let's keep it going for another 3 or 4 pages anyway... Is there a price drop? Looks like there's gonna be a price drop. No price drop here. What does the price drop mean? No one knows what a price drop is. There's no such thing as a price drop. If the price drops in a forest, but no one is there to read the ad, do trees have money? How will the price drop affect the endangered Venezuelan beaver flea? Thoughts? ;)
  10. But were you "authorized" to tamper with your instrument? Men In Black may be coming for you....;)
  11. There's always bubble wrap...;)
  12. As long as it's not humming abnormally when you are plugged in, who cares? ;)
  13. It's 147% subjective....the "best" version to use is the one that sounds good to YOU. We could argue all day long about which firmware version is "better" for this, or that. Nobody's "right". If you like what you hear, then it's good. If not, it sucks. Experimenting is the only way to find out. Use whatever strings you're comfy with...but changing the gauge will require a set-up.
  14. Pro Tools is really what I was thinking of. I know it's good, and popular...but once you've got a good product and reputation, why sour it by finding new and better ways to fleece the people who made you rich? They're just gonna go elsewhere. Greed rots the brain....
  15. The subscription model for software licensing baffles me. I mean, I get why the companies like it, but I cannot fathom why anyone pays for it. It's extortion. Nothing's that good.
  16. I hear ya, I'd like one myself. Can't stand Floyds. I just wish the fixed bridge one didn't have the reverse headstock...you can smell 1989 just looking at it. ;)
  17. It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure it's feasible. New device, new models, new code...aside from porting over everything from the previous unit, how would this be accomplished? And if they did do that, you'd basically be buying the same device all over again. Why bother? Keep what you have. Just playing Devil's advocate...not dumping on anybody's idea or looking to start a brouhaha. Cranky Brigade may stand at ease...;)
  18. I think Helix should have an on-board panini press. Failing that, a tuna on rye toast with tomato, a little black pepper, and a bag of chips, delivered M-F for about 3 weeks (make it around 11:30..my day starts early). For $1500, I figure that's fair. ;)
  19. Several guys have reported swapping the low E and A string piezo leads that connect to the circuit board mounted to the sustain block, and suddenly the plink is on the A string, and the E sounds fine. If a given string is plinking one minute and fine the next (and vice versa), it's tough to blame the piezo elements themselves. It would seem to indicate that the problem lives somewhere else in the electronics. I'm no engineer, but a malfunction so stable that it can be routed at will, is odd to say the least.
  20. Yup. You can literally relocate the plink to any string you want by swapping piezo wires...that ain't mechanical.
  21. I "got this stuff" right here...your words, not mine. I certainly didn't conjure it out of thin air
