Original thread for background: http://line6.com/support/topic/3575-dream-rig-l3t-speaker-mode-not-saved-in-patchl/ Quoted from original thread: Posted 28 January 2014 - 02:28 PM Got a reply to my ticket, acknowledging a bug that the DT won't pass through data to the L3t, so speaker mode can't be saved with my configuration. However, I got the unsatisfactory response that I have to log it on ideascale. Surely the purpose of ideascale is for product enhancements rather than bug fixes? Anyway, the idea is here if anyone would like to vote ;) http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Allow-L3t-speaker-mode-save-when-L6-linked-to-DT-amp/579806-23508 Please vote on Ideascale for the bug to be fixed. Thank you.

Banjo Sound Popping Noise Jtv59
edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Thank you for the tip and the pointer! Have you installed one of these cool looking bridges? Would it just be a straight replacement for the JTV59 bridge - just need a guitar tech to connect up the piezo saddles to the JTV electronics? Thanks. -
No problem. Just need a couple hundred more votes to get to top of the list. Lol. ;) I can't believe they are not addressing this problem directly. Surely the whole point of L6 link is to connect the L6 link enabled devices together so they can communicate seamlessly, and surely any L6 link device would by default pass through any unrelated data to the next in the chain, why would it not do that? Also, how difficult can it be for them to fix it? Surely, all data should be passed on via the THRU and the relevant devices take notice of their related data. In fact, why does the problem exist? Surely they designed L6 link with the intention of daisy chaining several devices to be controlled from one source - didn't they? The more I think about it the more dumbfounded I am that this problem exists at all, and I am lost for words that they are not fixing it directly and have instead said it needs to be submitted via ideascale and be voted on. :o Pease excuse the rant. Unbelievable. :(

Hi rowbi, what are the recommended settings if a DT25 is also in the mix? I understand Line6 recommend the DT25 be connected first in the L6link chain, but what should the HD500 have its global setting as, especially if both electric and acoustic sounds will be utilised via the DT25 and L2/3 respectively? HD500 -> DT25 -> L2 or L3 Thanks in advance.

Read this thread for a full description of routing in HD500: http://line6.com/support/topic/2033-pod-hd-500-500x-new-routing-schematics/ There are other threads that discuss the input 1 and input 2 options and uses and end results depending on how patch set up.

How To Install Bigsby On 59
edstar1960 replied to dtray187's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Does the addition of the bigsby produce a fuller richer tone on the JTV59? Thanks. -
I saw a thread where someone had fitted a bigsby to their JTV59, and I wondered whether it would be a good idea to fit a stop bar to a JTV59. I then wondered whether anyone had already done this or if it was possible because of placement of the battery compartment. I was wondering whether a stop bar would help when changing strings, improve tension across saddles, prevent ringing behind saddles, provide a fuller tone, maybe improve the aesthetics?? Has anyone fitted a stop bar to their JTV59? Or does anyone know if it is possible or not? Or whether it would be beneficial to do so? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

Hd500 With Ev Zlx12p Or Stagesource L2m Opinions?
edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Thank you very much for all the info. One more question, if you don't mind, do you think the HD500 sounds better with the L2 in electric guitar mode as compared to PA reference mode? The EV only has a comparable mode to PA ref, it des not have an electric guitar mode as far as I know. Thanks. -

Thanks for your advice. So the L2 electric guitar mode produces a very "live" amp sound - or does it still provide a "mic'd" amp sound? What other full range speakers had you tried before getting the L2? -
Hd Version And Alt. Tunings (praising)
edstar1960 replied to arislaf's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried tweaking the models on Workbench HD and did that help at all? Or is the lack of sustain intrinsic to the v2 Lester models and can't be tweaked out by adjusting parameters in WB HD? -

edstar1960 replied to arislaf's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Hi arislaf, great to hear you enjoying the v2 models so much. Have you had any issues with sustain on the new models as reported in other threads by other users? From memory I believe some people reported they felt the Lester and Strat models had far less sustain than the v1.9 versions. Have you found that to be the case? Thanks. -
Great news. Glad its sorted.

Hd500 With Ev Zlx12p Or Stagesource L2m Opinions?
edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Thanks for the tip, I will look out for it as it may be another option. Meanwhile, I may reconsider using the DT25 and B210D in combination live - just using the B210D for acoustic and synth type patches and all the electric guitar stuff with the DT25. I may have to persuade the band to let me have 2 channels on the mixer though or provide my own submix to the PA. I will have to give it some thought. -

Ah! That is certainly a big part of the reason why the the US prices online are so much better! -

edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Yep! It has no bearing on the actual exchange rate! They can just get away with charging people in the EU way more for the same product! Mind you - in the USA you have different sales taxes in different states and the sales tax isn't included in the price - is that correct? So $400 would actually be $400 plus sales tax? In the EU pretty much everything has VAT added (Value Added tax) which is at 20% in the UK, and retailers advertise their prices including that tax - so £329 is including the VAT. I bet the US price still comes out cheaper though! :) -
Hd500 With Ev Zlx12p Or Stagesource L2m Opinions?
edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Thanks for the advice. Yes - I play in a band. I currently use a Behringer B210D which I have only had for a couple of months, but after much tweaking I still can't get it to sound right. It's a great size and really portable and loud enough BUT sound is either too harsh or too boomy and if I have it at a volume that I can hear myself comfortably at then the other band members complain I am too loud, so I turn down a bit and end up struggling to hear myself. I have now come to the conclusion that although it was only about £140, I have wasted far too much time trying to get it to sound good, and would have been better off spending more on a better quality powered PA speaker. I also have the JTV59 and the DT25 - so I have the dream rig - but I can't nail the acoustic sound with the DT25 and I need it for a couple of songs, and I also use some of the weird synth sounds from the HD500 which is not so ideal for the DT25, so the dream rig becomes the "almost dream rig" - plus I worry that a tube may play up at a gig and then I would be without any backup options. If we ever do a set when it's just electric guitar throughout then the DT25 is ideal (apart from the worry of a tube going bad). I like my gear to be as small and portable and as reliable as possible. I can't afford to have 2 of everything at a gig just in case - plus if I did then it would be counter acting the the small/portable requirement if I had twice as much! LOL :D The L2M is tempting because of it's compatibility and the numerous positive reports but it is expensive AND I missed it while it was on offer at £529 (which was still expensive) ! :( It may also make my DT25 redundant from what I have read although it might be nice to have both available at a gig and fully utilise the L6 link connections But the EV ZLX12P seems a great option at £329 - although I would not be able to dynamically swap modes with it - but maybe the LIVE mode would suit both electric and acoustic sounds from the HD500. . -

edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Ouch! The L2m has just increased to £629 and the L2T to £729 the UK. Makes the EV option far more attractive at £329. -
Yes - the flashing red lights on the model knob and alt tune knob indicate a factory reset in process. I can't remember exactly how you initiate it, but I seem to think it is something to do with inserting the 1/4 inch jack while pressing the model knob or something. Anyway - sounds like you have removed the battery - put it back in - and got it working again. Good luck!

Please clarify exactly how you have things hooked up when you get the problem. Is it Variax 600 -> VDI -> HD500X -> L6 Link -> DT25 and all sound cuts in and out on your DT25 ? If you replace the Variax 600 -> VDI with Strat -> 1/4 inch cable then everything is fine? If you use the Variax 600 with VDI with X3L is everything OK? If that is correct then you have narrowed the problem down to the VDI socket on the HD500X. It could be that there is a bent pin in the socket or maybe some dirt - so it is worth giving it a quick clean with some switch cleaner. It is also worth trying to use the short ethercon cable that came with the Variax for use with the USB dongle - the one that only has the lockable shielding at one end) - and see if that works. It is also worth trying just a standard Ethernet cable just to see if that works. If the problem continues after trying cleaning and different cables, then I suggest you send the unit back and ask for a new replacement.

Hd500 With Ev Zlx12p Or Stagesource L2m Opinions?
edstar1960 replied to edstar1960's topic in POD HD
Thank you everyone for your input. Price comparison at the moment in the UK - Stagesource L2M is £529 - the EV ZLX12P is £329. Has anyone actually done a direct comparison between the 2? I know the L2m is the Line 6 compatible product - you get the L6 Link and the control direct from the HD500 and you can therefore automatically switch between different modes which is cool - but is it worth the extra £200 ? If the sound quality is also superior then maybe It is. First hand advice from anyone who has tried one or the other or both is extremely helpful. Unfortunately, there is no place near enough to me that has either in stock to try.
