  1. Thankyou brazzy. Nice rock tone there. Lets say for this hypothetical example the signal chain goes like this. Guitar > Comp ? > Distortion > Comp ? > Soldano (Clean channel) > Compressor before or after distortion ? I'm looking to do it all within the POD for live use rather than recording. Target genre is melodic death metal, so i'm going for a tight rhythm tone for fast picking techniques.
  2. For the high-gain amp users, where do you like your compressor, before, or after your distortion ?
  3. You could try another guitar with the POD to quickly determine wether your pickups/electronics are to be suspected. Long shot seen as tho you mention there's no problem going into your spider amp. Did you set the output mode in the POD to Studio Direct ? The padding button comes to mind aswell. As for the POD's audio interface, it runs natively on the ASIO protocol, and should be quite sufficient in quality, latency, and reliability to use in any DAW situation. The POD's interface is perfectly fine.
  4. Ok, so I'm not going mental, that's good then. ^_^
  5. I just acquired the model packs recently and have enjoyed what I've so far delved into. Currently, I'm testing out the 5150 in different configurations to find and settle on a configuration I can rely on as a solid workhorse that will finally remain constant with every other patch I create with it later, as a template. While experimenting with this amp and setting unity gains similarly to my other created patches with other amps, I discovered the 5150 to be quite loud in comparison to all the other amps. I was able achieve unity with a -8db setting within the mixer block, which evened things up. Is this normal for this amp, and has anyone else made this same observation ? I can't find for the life of me figure out why its default levels are so high in comparison.
  6. You're most welcome ! He's had a pretty long and stellar career, came out around the same time as Tony MacAlpine and Ritchie Kotzen. Looking forward to your Shiva attempt :) That ones on my list soon too, I'm guessing itl round off much like the Uberschall. Guthrie Govan you say ? That man is a god ! :D
  7. Great job there Duncann ! reminds me a bit of Greg Howe. I've only just acquired the new amps recently and lov'in what I've discovered so far. How you finding the 5150 ? For me this amp sits right between the Fireball, and the Dual Rectifier tone and gain wise. It really filled a gap for me.
  8. Right ok my mistake, it appears you where correct Triryche, the mistake i made was not paying attention to the note at the very bottom of the checkout form. "NOTE:You must be within the United States to place an order here. Please visit our non-U.S. shop here for digital downloads: shop.line6.com" Plus the fact i was using IE to complete the transaction rather than Chrome. I have some issues with this site while using IE. I was able to successfully complete the transaction, and awaiting some kind of email confirmation, how long does this usually take ? Nevermind, it was pretty much instant, and all packs went through without a hitch, thankyou all for your help ! :D Time to get acquainted with these bad boys.
  9. Thats exactly the path I took, no go.
  10. Ok I've gone down the rabbit hole, and I vaguely remember someone else having this issue, how do I go about purchasing these if I'm in Australia ? The order form only has options for people in America, Please help !
  11. I'm about to pull the trigger on the model packs, should I purchase these via Line 6 website, or do it all via the Line 6 License Manager application ?
  12. Sounds to me like an EMI issue, I would start by interchanging and eliminating guitar and input cables before proceeding to suspecting the POD.
  13. I knew there had to be one eventually, thanks for the clarification.
  14. I don't personally find myself straying too far away from that general FX sequence anyways when I'm building signal chains, so I wouldn't miss the nanny much tbh. Can be frustrating sometimes when you know the DSP processor is capable of a little more, if the firmware allowed it to. But it is what it is, and I've learnt to work around it, so no complaints really. But wouldn't it be nice if that alternative was available. It would bring back that easy and seamless pedal-board experience we all once had with analogue pedals, with the least amount of confusion.
  15. Certainly an interesting idea, especially for those that like to keep a static signal chain with all slots occupied and ready to trigger on/off when needed, rather than changing entire presets as a work around to add/remove FX on the fly. Although, i still think memory presets will be required for drastic signal chain alterations, depending on the set your playing.
  16. Yes, but does the HD300/400 also share the same DSP processor as the HD500/HD Pro ? that would also be a large factor in over-all DSP performance.
  17. I'd be all over that like a fat kid loves cake ! Its pretty hard to go wrong with that signal path sequence, its generally the best all-rounder config, given you'd be ok with ditching the dynamic allocation method of how the firmware currently operates.
  18. Oh yeh, who can forget the humble ebow.
  19. I think patience or procrastination is a good thing when something new like this gets released. It will undoubtedly have its teething issues initially.
  20. Although i did extensive homework on that pickup, i haven't personally tried it, because i couldn't justify the final cost of it, or its direct competitor the "Sustainiac". I found the Boss FB-2 to be the cheapest solution to achieving the infinite sustain effect at low volumes. But, if you have the money to burn, i suggest you go with either pickup, as infinite sustain is not achieved synthetically as is done with the FB-2, or any other FX pedal for that matter. I imagine these pickups would work and sound good on just about anything pretty well really. You may even find that buying a guitar that is already pre-loaded with them as better value in the end. True infinite sustain with regular passive/active pickups, CANNOT be achieved without an amp + speakers @ high volumes/gains. 21. That would explain the lack of detailed documentation then...
  22. Who the hell needs 24 houses ? My BS detector is off the scale on that one.
  23. ;) Sounds like your wish for multiple DSP processors came true !
  24. Yes, SERIOUSLY. Every electronic gadget of this caliber will have its support documents, no matter how intuitive it is to use, and i SERIOUSLY don't understand your confusion lol, their arrival is a %99 certainty.
