  1. Unless you got some kinda supercomputer fit for CERN with the 96KHz samples to go with it, stick to 44/48KHz 24bit, 96KHz is just not worth the extra effort.
  2. Do what makes you happy, just know that no amount of geeking out will make you a better guitarist, ya gots to practice practice practice. B)
  3. :P Your much too concerned with DSP chips lol, and not enough concerned with "playing". The tech is cool for sure, but kinda redundant if not put to use.
  4. Personally, I won't be jumping onto the update immediately, it would be wise to hold off a while after its release and keep an eye out for others having unforeseen bugs and issues like 2.6 did for the X users, which later got the 2.61 fix.
  5. Most definitely before the POD, that's where everyone puts it %99 of the time. Wha usually belongs near the beginning of your chain.
  6. So there is, but unfortunately it didn't fix it. That's ok, i'll do what duncann suggested and get me a portable version, thanks for the help guys.
  7. I think this is do-able, you can't do any damage. Obviously you would want the FX Loop block in the POD right at the beginning of the chain. Not sure wether the POD's send volume will have any effect.Try it :)
  8. Can't be added, it expects to see the http"s" prefix for sites with secure connections.
  9. The AxeFX II incorporates 2 x 600MHz dual-core TigerSHARC's, 2 x ADSP-TS201S I believe. 1 DSP is in charge of amp modelling tasks, the 2nd is dedicated to FX processing tasks.
  10. Added "Line6.com" into compatibility settings, and still no go. Would that URL be all that I'd need ? Cause IE chose it by default.
  11. About a year ago I came across a problem with including others posts as quotes in my own posts within the editor. I quickly asked about this problem and was told that it was Internet Explorer 11 related, so I just went along with it the way it was thinking Line6 would fix this incompatibility eventually, but after all this time, nothing has changed. I can't even embed picture's, photo's and YouTube video's in my posts which is frustrating. I know these problems can be side-stepped by using another browser, but I refuse to install another browser into my system and will always use IE as my default browser for other reasons. So, what can be done, if anything ? Does Line6 intend on fixing it ?
  12. +1 on the Tube Screamer suggestion (front-ending the 5150), if your trying to summon a more saturated high-gain distortion for metal. Its a staple config for alotta metal guitarists.
  13. I try to buy audio gear loaded with gold Nichicon capacitors and motherboards/GPU's with aluminium Solid capacitors whenever possible, but they do add to the cost, so the final production cost was probably too high for Line6 to consider.
  14. I could've saved you some effort by just saying the X versions bring about %20 extra DSP lol. I have the HD Pro (non-X), and didn't find that %20 appealing enough to lay out the cash.
  15. stevevnicks "I am just trying to say that the HD500 should be up to the job Line 6 intened it to be used for and quite nicely for most people" I think we all work this out eventually after we've explored our new modellers. The difference you'll find with others is that some with relatively simple chains, say the DSP solution is plenty for them and rarely run into DSP limits, and others with higher demands from their chains say its not enough, so really that outcome is subjective for each person, and how they put it to use.
  16. I might be wrong, so someone correct me if needed please. The ADSP-21369 Sharc has gone through a few generations, with an increase of clock speed with every next generation. HD500 = ADSP-21369 KSWZ-2A (333MHz) HD500X = ADSP-21369 KSWZ-6A (400MHz) All specifications and variances can be found in the "Data sheet". http://www.analog.com/en/products/processors-dsp/sharc/adsp-21369.html
  17. Just dug through some old threads to find what you may already have. HD500 DSP http://www.analog.com/en/products/processors-dsp/sharc/adsp-21369.html As for the HD500X, I'm not quite sure if that's had official clarification with the exact DSP chip model, but higher clock speeds was definitely discussed at some point.
  18. Correct, its VERY dubious lol, and correct, Analog Devices make some fine chips. In the interests of objectiveness, which is paramount for assessments such as these, technical specifications and documentation are crucial for objective comparisons. Just because the chip was used in a more expensive unit, doesn't automatically make it superior to "X" comparison. Price is a highly deceiving indicator to DSP performance, and companies will tend to set prices based on what they think people are willing to spend, rather than the exact production cost of a single unit in materials and labour.
  19. 2 Questions. 1. Do you have the technical/engineering knowledge to conduct internal/external analysis of DSP chips ? 2. What areas of DSP "specifically" are you using to make comparisons to other DSP chips ? This wouldn't be an easy assessment for an amateur hobbyist, so excuse my tone if I offend. I believe the chip used in the X versions are simular to non X versions, just clocked higher... I remember about a year ago I priced the DSP chip in my HD Pro @ about $20 :o just saying. If you search hard enough, you'll find discussions about this topic through this forum. :) Also, try to steer clear of documentations such as those, they all have an agenda to sell, and they all claim to be better at this and that, but at the end of the day, its all just marketing hype. Instead, focus on the technical documents and specifications for a more objective comparison.
  20. Yup, good work. Are you able to take roll-off measurements for each EQ ?
  21. Not for us non X users! :D
  22. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad all that tweaking is available, but it takes more time than most units I've used to sculpt a great tone from scratch. I don't think its as easy as slapping in an amp and fx and off you go either, more often than not they require the tweaking to straighten out.
  23. lol, I like how they make the POD out to be "easy to use", not the HD that's for sure.
  24. NucleusX

    Firmware 2.6

    Awesome ! Finally a 20 to 20 EQ !

startle69 "The bands are Low Cut, Low, Mid, High, High Cut. The frequency for each band is adjustable. The Gain for each band is adjustable with the exception of the two Cuts." Great thx, what are the lowest and highest selectable frequencies ?
