USB port, not the same as power wire. Damage, not the same as disconnect. If I am on stage, my USB isn't plugged in. But, something might happen to yank my power cord out. - such as a drunk tripping over his own feet. Using the tree will prevent it from being pulled out - the "pull" stops where the tree begins, leaving the part between the tree and the unit (the plugged in part) untouched. This is possible at home with kids and animals running around - and the previously mentioned drunk. But it is less likely to happen if you have a "home setup" where this stuff is not normally in the pathway of the photo ops and tax deductions.

Yes, you can play bass through your unit. I don't have a 300, so I can't help you with specifics. But I can say - I am old (school and age). So, I grew up playing bass through bass gear and guitar through guitar gear, because damage would occur if you did otherwise. So, one of the first questions I had when I bought the unit and joined the forums was if I could play bass (piano, etc) through the unit. You're good. Plug in. Rock on. Figuring out good tone is part of the journey, and one each must make on their own. But at least you now know won't damage your gear.

HD500X - How quiet should it be while not playing?

part of the issue with "realism" (in addition to it being annoying) is the fact that most people don't know what 'real' is. Meaning - when was the last time you turned a 1965 100-watt Marshall 4x12 up to 10, in your bedroom while sitting 3 feet away with your ear at speaker level. Yet, with modeling tech, this is essentially what you are doing. -
it's that little piece of plastic jutting out from the unit near the power jack the OM should have a diagram I would suggest not using it unless you have animals or kids running around your bedroom.

I have spoken on this many times: There are a lot of guys out there, who are excellent videographers or fantastic bloggers. They make great videos. They run fancy websites. Lots of content with loads of data. But, musically, when it comes down the content they deliver... well, they are really good videographers.

Yes, there is a way to set all 3 on one button. You can also set them in reverse order, turning some on and some off with one click. But, also, if you are adding those other things, do you need to add the eq/boost? Shouldn't those other things give you the needed change to stand out for a solo. Here are my "old school" thoughts: 1. let the sound man control volumes. any "stage volume" change that you make will be exponentially changed for the audience. instead, a simple tone change can do wonders without hurting the crowd's ears. 2. volume knob on the guitar - for rock/metal players, create patches your guitar set to 8 or 9. That way you always have that little extra boost for a solo. If done right (primarily how it relates to distortion), it won't give an excessively noticeable volume change, but it will give a bit of high end boost (unless you added a treble bleed) that a solo needs. 3. wah pedal - on these electronic devices, you don't even need to use the exp pedal. you can create the wah setting you need and simply on/off it.

oh, also - No. Line 6 does not update often. But, in fairness, music tech never gets updated like other tech. In fact, (sorry to regular readers who have heard me say this before), MIDI tech is so small, that keyboards were using floppy disks long after the rest of the world had moved on beyond the cd rom to flash drives, and probably still would be using them had Microsoft and Dell not gotten together and decided to stop putting floppy drives as standard equipment. On the HD series, a patch is 5kb. This means a floppy could hold more than half of the patches the unit can hold (512). Or 5 setlists (unit holds 8). Music tech, unlike other tech, requires far less tech.

I don't have a firehawk and i hate bluetooth. Why do I hate bluetooth - it is "really sucky". So, in my opinion, yes, it is going to "really suck" on the firehawk. BUT, at the same time.... To compare this to the HD500 and the EDIT program: The EDIT program is an editor, it is not a live performance program. You use it to edit a patch, and then you turn it off. So, bringing this back to the Firehawk - I can't imagine it being any different. Use it to edit your tone, and then turn it off.

mine don't matter. the only thing that matters is that they are the same both before and after.
-
first, being new, you should be aware - you can use files for the 500, 500x, pro, and pro x with no issue. this should allow you to search many more files. and there is also a converter that allows other model files to be used. beyond that - I can't see Major Tom (by Peter Schilling, different than Space Oddity by David Bowie) being something many people in 2010 (when the device came out) would be clamoring for. 99 red ballons. Luft ballons. Nena. Ok, I can see people wanting that one. As far as designing a patch - single coil pickups are a must

Global settings - like In-Z. They make a huge difference.

I saw the post when it was first written. But it worked for me. So I assumed it was only a temporary issue that resolved itself.

When Steve Lukather says a product isn't workable - believe him. When a random Youtube video from some random failed musician turned videographer says it is a bad product... consider your source.

If it happens when the MV is at 0, it has nothing to do with the unit. -
Custom Tone Amp Presets - Search and Filters

except - 2000 downloads because a file is 10 years old and simply had more opportunity to be downloaded is not the same as 2000 downloads this week because someone posted their link to another platform such as youtube. also, 2000 downloads with 5 votes is not the same as 200 downloads with 100 votes.- 4 replies

Can't work too wonderfully if you've gone through 3 of them already. But, aside from that - I am not saying that it does not work. Nor am I saying that you can't design patches around your system to make it sound good. I am saying that if you were to put that same patch on an actual 'flat' system, you would hear the difference.

There may be local areas that don't allow it. And there may be regulations that don't allow new construction to have it. But there is no US law preventing someone from renting out old buildings that have not been rewired.

without being there to know what you are experiencing - Much of this is intentional. (and has been a complaint about the units for a decade) Physical amps, particularly when "gain-ified", have hum/hiss. Therefore, you cannot have a true recreation (aka, a model) without it. Beyond that, use a noise gate.

This is an Apple problem. The 'workarounds' are posted at various places throughout the forums. *I don't use Apple (and am strongly opposed to their methodology), so I won't offer any help beyond that.

well, no, not exactly. it may be bypassing certain tone changing features. but you are still playing through a Fender guitar amp, Fender guitar speaker, and a Fender guitar cab. It won't sound like a 2001 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo or Ampeg B-15NF Portaflex.

does the other stuff work? like EDIT and Monkey (for updates)
-
but don't run EDIT while running your other computer stuff. Use EDIT to edit, and then close it. It is an editor, not a performance enhancer.
