  1. each was designed for different purposes. Other than being the oldest, the 500 would be considered "the best" - at least in terms of being the flagship of its line. The Firehawk is a watered down 500 but allows bluetooth connectivity. (in fact, doesn't it require bluetooth usage for certain things?). It doesn't do as much, it doesn't do it as well, but it has bluetooth. You can ignore the Firehawk. **I don't want to insult the product. But basically, I would compare the Firehawk to some free app you download on your phone. Would you rather have a 4 inch game you play on your phone, or a PS3. It's a cute toy, but doesn't compare to the real thing. So, really, you are looking between the 500 and the Go. The 500 is the flagship of the HD line. But it is old (in technology years). Fully functional. But old. It doesn't do some of the newer stuff, but what it does do it does well. Unlike, as example, a 1993 "digital piano", which sounds dreadful, particularly when compared to 2021 models; you wouldn't know the 500 was "ancient tech". It is just that damn good. The Go is the entry level product of the HX line. Newer tech, but fewer toys. What does newer tech mean - a new sampling method when they created models. Newer processors. Maybe a color touch screen or gesture control with facial recognition. But what good is all of this lightning fast 5G data speeds if your phone drops calls every time a truck drives by. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There really is no right answer. There is only what is right for you. Not everyone needs 60 amp models (found in the 500). Some people don't want amp modeling at all, they just want MFX, so they can get an M Series. It just comes down to what you need.
  2. HD500 can do pitch shift. It shifts every note that comes through it - perfect for changing standard tuning to standard tuning of a different pitch. Whether it be A440 to A432 or EADGBE to ADGCEA Variax guitars can pitch shift individual strings, which makes it the only choice for alternate tunings (DADGBE, DADGAD).
  3. or put it in the middle by using the fx loop, and then it can be completely out of the signal chain except when you want it in there by putting the fx loop in a patch
  4. No you don't. When connected via USB, maybe. But not because you opened a computer program. How lollipoping stupid do you take us for.
  5. The simple answer is: Yes, of course, why wouldn't you. A more correct answer would be: Could you be more detailed about your intended usage?
  6. I doubt that L6 has any 'dealer runs' of the Pod. Unless there are country specific issues - like Iran not allowing a Tron Up because it is too sexual sounding. possibly. or someone silk screened the label. it's all in the firmware. if you install the firmware, it will be the same as the others. the only way it could be better (or worse) would be if you maintained its current firmware.
  7. Not that we really care. But a link to what you are looking for is usually helpful when wanting help.
  8. You cannot send separate signals to separate output types. You can stereo separate, that is all. *as example, build electric patches going to the left and acoustic patches going to the right. Then use the right XLR to pa and left 1/4" to amp (must use dummy plug in right 1/4" jack) The 2 floor units are the same, therefore as long as you have updated the firmware, you will see no benefit of getting the new unit. *The 2 rack units offer additional routing options, but not what you seek.
  9. We have seen one... come'on, someone has to have the link... there is a clear rubber sheet made for the 500. It protects from beer and puke and all that other stuff that people let on their stages. You don't have to take it off to use it. It is designed for to stay on.
  10. It is not a volume pedal. It is an expression pedal - capable of controlling any value assigned to it. Also, you may need to do a pedal calibration. This isn't support. This is a public forum. It is listed under support because, well, let's face it, most problems that users have do not require a level 3 technician with a PhD in data cap software modulation.
  11. I can't say I ever noticed it on the splash screen.
  12. there is no right or wrong answer, only an 'intended usage' answer so, here goes: The X units shipped with rather new firmware. Not the newest, but new enough that you don't need anything newer if: 1. Update if you have problems. Updates always contain bug fixes. 2. You MUST update if you intend on using the add-on model packs (available for a fee). 3. Update if you intend on using any of the connectivity features (EDIT, Monkey, Gear Box, etc). Most users are going to be fine with never updating the X units. People with the 500 would see a tremendous change if they have never updated. In fact, because the four units are the same when up to date, I prevented multiple people from buying the 500X simply by updating their 500.
  13. Does the Pod work if, as example, you use headphones? There are so many options with the Pod, we need to know it is working or if it is a setting. Did you try the XLR from the right output? Left didn't work. But that is what stereo is all about. Does the speaker work using the 1/4" direct from the guitar? Remember - the Master Volume (on the Pod) matters. Everything else is patch related, but the MV is global.
  14. I'd be doing better if I didn't have to deal with the heir to the Massengill fortune digging up a two year old post to say absolutely nothing.
  15. Because you bought an HD500 - make sure the firmware is updated. It could make a difference.
  16. Call me an elistist. Call me a purist. Hell, call me an old fuddy duddy. But what ever the case might be.... If you bought an amp modeler, and don't like the models in it ------- you simply bought the wrong unit.
  17. Being upfront - I don't know. Never tried. But I have some experience with some of this stuff. And, based on my limited experience with older gear.... NO, it doesn't work that way. The Roland/Boss stuff isn't using 'models', per se. They are using pre-recorded wave files that get recalled based on what you are playing. I know it sounds sort of Left Twix/Right Twix, but it really is different.
  18. and I don't think this is going to change anytime soon, as we've been looking or this for years.
  19. To whom it may concern: If I can't call him lollipop boy, I don't want him having the name lollipop boy. lollipopboy
  20. No. Not on the unit. Not on EDIT. Just simply, no. ==================================== However, EDIT does allow you to easily rename and/or move files around. So, as example, I save a patch as a song name. And then, on any given night, when we do a setlist, I put the patches in order.
  21. the two items are exactly the same the latest movement of either is the current setting you hear
  22. an actual 'factory reset' is probably the one thing I feel the unit is missing. I don't think it is needed for most users. At least not to the extent that I would use it.
  23. The HD500X is an amp modeler, not an amp. You mentioned needing "lesser" volume. Unless you are talking about headphones, the Pod is not for you. *with the exception of maybe using your powered computer speakers. So, going with the Pod, you will still need some sort of "amp" to hear yourself.
  24. GODDAMN How is it... I mean.... Am I the only person that doesn't need IRs or a tube amp. I plug the unit direct to PA and get fantastic tone. I go direct to mixer for recording and get fantastic tone. I sometimes need to plug into a sound source to hear myself - I can use bland speakers and get fantastic tone. Am I the only one?
