I actually haven't been on here in awhile, and just uploaded a new patch to Customtone today and decided to check out the forums. It's always good to hear that a patch works for someone else. You never know how it will sound with a different guitar/speaker/PA etc. Glad to know that you like it and can get some use out of it.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at. I know that the POD itself won't be affected by the authorization, I just wasn't sure if Edit would see all of the models from the POD on my computer when I connect it if I missed an authorization step or something like that. Thanks for all of the answers everyone. Sounds like it should be pretty straightforward. Still, I'm going to wait until after playing this weekend to proceed.

I have a new computer that I'd like to move my HD500X and Monkey, HD500X Edit, etc. to. I've read horror stories about people having trouble getting a POD set up on their computer when buying it from another owner, but in this case, it's just my POD that I purchased new, so I'm the original owner. Are there any gotchas or recommendations for just moving from an old PC to a new one? I'm moving from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Edit: I also have the model packs. Is there anything additional to move/set up for those on the new computer for HD500X Edit to be able to use them?

I accidentally left mine on overnight one day last week. That's about the longest mine has ever been on continuously.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else here. Just because you don't personally hear a difference doesn't mean there isn't one, especially without us knowing exactly what kind of other equipment you have it going through. If you aren't happy, return for a refund and be done with it.

Peter, I'm curious what you did to the PV Panama amp for your sound demo. I love the model, but I've found the default settings for that amp to have a harshness that needs to be tamed. I've lowered the gain, reduced treble, and lowered presence and have a tone that I am starting to like. I tried using the PEQ and found the 80% range to be where some of the harshness lies. Just curious on others' approaches and discoveries with that particular model.

I've been playing since the 80s, and I'm in my early 40s now. I honestly still prefer a real amp, but the POD does a great job and saves so much time and effort regarding lugging equipment around, and it helps me deal with not having to worry about stage volume and beaming, so switching was a no brainer for me.

Is there a good, reliable expression pedal made by a 3rd party that works well with the PODs? It's not critical that I get one before this weekend, but I would like to if possible, and none of the local places sell the Line 6 add-on pedal. I don't have time to order one from Amazon by then, either. What are some other brand external expression pedals I could look into at a Guitar Center or some place like that?

I think that this is what I'll end up doing in the long run.

Heh, looking back at this old thread, I have to admit that I'd forgotten all about this. I've been using my HD500X live regularly since posting this last year and I don't think I've had the problem when playing live and pressing the switch with my foot.

I think I'd have a little trouble adjusting to using it reversed like that, but I think I'll give it a try since it would be less clicking to keep track of. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just created a patch to use this weekend using the Pitch Glide with the EXP 1 setting. It's my first time using Pitch Glide this way. I have volume using EXP 2, so at first I just assigned the Pitch Glide effect so that it would activate when I pressed the toe switch and changing to EXP 1. This was great to turn on the pitch glide effect and allow me to use the pedal, but when I press the toe switch again to return to EXP 2 and disable the Pitch Glide, it leaves the pitch at +24, which obviously sounds awful when I need to play chords after turning off the pitch glide. I ended up assigning FS2 to actually turn the Pitch Glide on and off, so I have to press FS2 to turn on the effect and then press the toe switch to actually enable the pitch control. Then when I'm ready to go back to normal, I have to press FS2 to turn off the effect so it doesn't stay at +24 when I press the toe switch, and then I have to press the toe switch again to be able to use the volume pedal. This is workable and I'll end up using it this way if I have to, but is there a way to just use the toe switch to turn it on and off without having it go up to +24 and stay there when engaging the toe switch?

The Sanpera pedal that goes with my Peavey Vypyr VIP II amp has 4 buttons in a square shape. It requires you to press both the A and B patch buttons at the same time to go into bank select mode, the choosing which bank you want (A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4), then finally picking which of the 4 patches in that bank you want. And to top it off, if you wait more than a few seconds to choose the bank after pressing A&B together, it cancels bank select mode. I ended up getting used to it when it was all I had, but I'm so much happier with the way the PODs work.

Also, make sure you aren't using a USB hub and instead go directly into the computer. USB hubs don't play well with PODs.

I run both of my XLR outs to the mixer/PA. I run the left 1/4 out into a powered monitor on stage. If for some reason I only have one XLR input available on the PA, I just make sure the patches I'm using that time are mono, but I almost always have 2 available.

Yeah, I saw a video of a show opening they did in the last few years and they had no problems about poking fun at themselves for the black leather and poofy hair back in the 80s.

Oz Fox from Stryper uses a POD. In this video, Michael Sweet is discussing getting the Stryper Tone using a parametric EQ with an Orange amp, and he says he's trying to get Oz to switch to this particular PEQ, and Oz responds by saying, "I'll stick to my POD" and then Michal says he uses one, too. It works for some people and not for others. When I first created this post, I couldn't edit, but others could. Now I'm able to, but I know of quite a few who can't.

This is somewhat similar to where I've found a tone using the 5150 that I would consider usable. I really like the amp, but as I mentioned in an earlier post about it, it definitely needs some tweaking before being used live. I have bass around 52, mid around 87, and treble around 50, with the presence pretty low like you do. I'm still experimenting with cabs, but I like the greenbacks, and I do think the mic needs to be changed from 57 on axis to get rid of some of the high end harshness. I think I have the drive between 25% and 35%, but I can't remember off the top of my head. My only real issue with the amp is that using the settings above for rhythm parts is great, but a little thin for the higher strings when playing leads. Adding delay and reverb helps, but I'm still trying to find a little better setting for leads.

I've noticed that my patches with the new amp models have sounded pretty boomy, and that the bass end of the spectrum almost sounds like there's clipping, but only the lower ranges of the sound when I play chords. The mid and upper ranges sound OK to me. I'm at work and can't check this right now, but it just occurred to me that I haven't looked at the new Global EQ settings at all since upgrading to 2.60 and installing the model packs; I've only been creating new patches with the new models. So my question is in regards to the new Global EQ default settings. I can check this when I get home, but since that won't be for another 8 or 9 hours, I'm wondering if the default setting for the Global EQ after upgrading is on or off. If it's on by default, that could be what's causing the boomy-ness that I've been noticing in my new patches.
