You don't change the calibration of the volume pedal via the Spider Edit software, has to be done on the pedal itself, using the calibration procedure. Spider Edit only affects the amplifier's settings.

To be clear, the FBV (must be MkII) is plugged into the computer via USB, and the amp to the FBV via the Cat5 cable right? The FBV just acts like an interface for the computer to talk to the amp.

To be clear, do not plug the amp directly into your computer using a (what seems to be compatible) ethernet cable! To load patches to the Spider IV (and also to update the firmware in the amp), you need an FBV MkII pedal.

Hi Keith. You say 'floorboard', please confirm this is the FBV Shortboard MkII you have. Does your computer recognize the device when connected via USB? Not knowing your O/S, I selected 'all O/S' on the Line 6 download page https://line6.com/software/index.html and 'Line 6 Monkey' does show.

Woops! You cannot plug a Spider 4 directly into a computer! You need to use an FBV MkII Express or Shortboard. You will need to bring it to an authorized repair center for evaluation.

The one issue with using the rear headphone/DI out on the Spider IV amp is that it cuts out the speaker. You may not want that for live use.

This is with a CAT5 cable, correct? Check the pedal's pin contacts in the jack to make sure none are bent. Is this a brand new or used FBV? The symptoms you describe sound like an FBV that had a glitch when updating the firmware.

Ok, your questions don't make any sense. Helix does not mix/record anything, that is done in some other software you are using, Audacity, Reason, Cubase... No idea what your question about the cloud/download is supposed to reference.

'Line 6' is a manufacturer -what software package did you get - PodFarm or Helix? These can be used as 'plug-ins' in recording or other software, or could be stand-alone. So these are not 'sound creation' apps, they modify sounds input to them.

I don't believe you can do that unless you had the sound file stored in some type of MIDI-controlled device, like a sampler. Possibly a sampler app would allow MIDI control.

"record my keystrokes"?? Your Yammie's only audio out is a 1/4" stereo headphone jack. A standard instrument cable should provide the audio out to the Helix (left channel only). So in Logic, you need to set up a track for audio recording with the Helix as the audio source. You can't record MIDI keystrokes, if that's what you were aiming for.

Check the connector pins in the jack on the FBV and POD. They are easily bent.

Check your master volume control? I always turn mine down before turning off the amp, old valve amp habit.

Does the amp display show that the amp actually changed channels? The first thing to do would be to back up any of your user-created patches to a computer via the FBV and a USB cable. Then do a factory reset and see if that fixes the issue.

The GX needs to be selected as the audio input and output device in your computer's audio settings. Headphones and speakers should be plugged into the GX.
