  1. You have to give people a chance to respond, not too many people are looking at these forums on the weekends! You cannot access teh song or artist presets directly from teh FBV controller, you have to save the presets to the user preset locations. Sounds like you have figured out the best way to use the FBV and amp - using the user patches for different settings of the FX and amps, so that when you turn on/off a particular FX with the appropriate switch, it is where you want it. It'll take some work to figure out the best way to do all the changes you do in a live performance. Of course you can continue to use your stompbox for certain FX, too. I often was using a distortion/boost stompbox with my Spider, rather than switching between two user patches as I might have been using the other patches in the bank for something else already.
  2. Clicking and popping sounds are usually indicative of CPU overload. SInce you say you are having other computer issues, you may want to check to see what programs are running in the background and shut them down- see if this helps.
  3. I assume you are using the UX2 as your audio interface/soundcard. The 'line out'/headphone output from the Spider IV is stereo, so you will need a splitter cable/adapter that splits the stereo 1/4" output to two (left and right) 1/4" mono plugs. Plug these into the Line In (left and right) inputs on the UX2.
  4. Make sure you have RCA - MONO 1/4" plug adapters. They should have just 2 conductors on the 1/4" plug. Make sure you have them plugged into the audio outputs of the UX2, as well! :)
  5. You are connecting with a USB cable, and not the CAT5 cable, right?
  6. You DO NOT want to use only one output of the amp! This is in the FAQs - it will eventually cause the output circuits of the amp to burn out components. The output of the amp is limited to 150 watts total, maximum, 75 watts per side. If you have both outputs plugged into both inputs of the 4x12 cabinet you are delivering 75 watts per side ( each side having 2 12" speakers). If you plug into 2 cabinets, you are delivering 75 watts per cabinet. This will not be louder. You could, however, put one cabinet on one side of the stage and one on the other, to spread the sound around better.
  7. You can connect two 8-ohm cabinets to the HD150's 2 (stereo) outputs. I'm not sure how that would work with two Spider 4x12 cabinets - if you only plug one cable to one of these, does it default to mono operation (unfortunately, I dont' see a manual online for the Spide 4x12)? If so, you would have your left output in one cabinet and the right in the other, not sure this would really sound ideal for any stereo-FX sounds, but if you were in a dedicated mono mode, it would be ok. Other than for 'the look' why do you want to do this? It won't be any louder.
  8. The 4 presets you can cycle through are the 4 currently saved in your selected user patch location. I suggest you read your owners manual to learn how to save your sounds to the user patch locations.
  9. Ok, I guess these were settings, not presets? You might want to search through the customtone secion of this site.
  10. I've never seen one. Best bet is to experiment with them and find ther sound(s) you like. The names are just names!
  11. There is a gray box with a magnifying glass icon at the top right of these pages, it is a search engine. What you want is here: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-1538
  12. Congratulations on your new amp! First thing I would suggest is to read the manual for the amp, available here: http://line6.com/support/manuals/ The control to the left is not an FX knob, it is for setting the amp-model for manual settings. Is it possible you have the master volume control turned way up?
  13. Many guitarists who like the 'natural' overdriven sound of a tube amp (I would suspect that is what B Adams has on that song) do not like the distortion one gets from a solid state amp - whether it comes from the model-driven 'drive' or the model-driven FX. One solution used by many solid-state amp guitarists is using an outboard distortion stompbox pedal. I know it seems counter-intuitive to have an amp with built-in effects and then use more, but its a fact that some (especially premium) foot pedals produce unique sounds.
  14. That is a strange one! I guess you should try a 'factory reset'. With the power off, hold the 'A' button in while turning on the power. Do this with no FBV pedal attached. Note that this will erase any user presets you have creeated, so back them up to a computer first using Spider Edit.
  15. Sometimes it is easier to use one of the presets and then adjust it to get the tone you want. There's no simple answer, because everyone has their own idea of what a 'good sound' is. There are so many factors in dialing in a sound - 1st step is how high you have the volume adjusted on your guitar, 2nd step is the amp basic settings, including the modeling (you like Clean Red) and Drive, 3rd step is the FX. You could try a different distortion, or dial back the amount of distortion.
  16. The CD input bypasses the preamp section of your amp. Check the IOS device volume control and settings. I am assuming this is an AUDIO OUTPUT from the IOS device, of course.
  17. Also - plug in a set of headphones into the back jack and see if you hear the problem buzz. If you do need to swap out the speaker, I would recommend getting one of the same ones that are in it - these speakers have been designed to provide a flat even tone so that the amp modeler tonality comes through corrrectly.
  18. It's been a while since I used Spider Edit (and I didnt' use it the way you are doing it), but when I did, I had to insert (drag and drop) the new preset into a particular user preset location.
  19. Crackling and popping may indicate that your CPU usage is too high - select CPU usage view and check it while playing back the problem project. IF you have a lot of CPU-intensive tracks going at the same time (VSTi's, reverbs), this might happen.
  20. Line6 personnel were no longer reviewing posts on these forums (old version), so may not see your question. You could try opening a support ticket to see if they answer. If you bought your amp from a brick-and-mortar store near you, you could bring your amp there and ask them if you could do the update through their demo FBV. I've heard of others doing this.
  21. Just thought I'd start things out here (and see if my post count still exists!) I've got a Spider IV 75, had it for almost 3 years now, along with an FBV Mk2 Express pedal. I also use PodFarm 2.55 and have used both for all the electric guitar (and most bass) tracks on my upcoming CD, available in the next few months.
