  1. Does anyone know if I can assign a specific CC value to a button that is sent out when pressed IN ADDITION to using it to call up a preset at the same time? Currently I use a Behringer FCB1010 to start and stop scenes in Ableton Live but want to do it from the HD500 without losing the ability to use the buttons for changing presets.
  2. Bummer. I use my JTV every Sunday to lead worship and I always use the VDI cable because I use different guitar models in different patches. I've always wanted to get rid of that cable but don't want to manually change guitar models while thinking of flow and all the other stuff I do as I lead.
  3. Would the solution above work on other products like HD500/JTV?
  4. Even though you only hear it in the alt tuninjgs, I'll bet it is there in the original tuning as well. I recently spent A LOT of time tracing the distortion in my JTV69. traced it directly to the piezos in strings 3 and 4. I opened up Workbench HD and lowered the volume down several DB on the 3rd string and just a little bit less on the 4th. Problem went totally away and the guitar still sounds fine even with the lowered string volume. Try it!
  5. For about 6 months I have been noticing a noise when I played my JTV into my HD500 and then directly in my church PA system using the XLR out. It was occuring when I strummed pretty hard (I do that a lot). When I first noticed it we had just installed a new digital mixer. I thought for sure that I was simply overloading my channel input on the board. Nope. Tried reducing input. Didn't go away. Next I blamed the HD500 thinking the VDI input was simply too hot for it. The problem did not occur when using the 1/4" input. I never knew that because I always use the VDI connection on stage so I can store guitar models in patches. I still wanted to use the VDI connection so I started experimenting and found that the problem came down completely to the 3rd string (G). I opened Workbench HD and lowered every string volume down as far as it would go and then one by one listened to a highly amped signal of each string while strumming like I play on Sunday mornings in worship. The noise only occured on the G string. Lowered it's volume by 6db and the noise is gone. In my opinion the lowered G string volume does not seem to bother the sound of the chords and notes I play. Not enough in my environment to make a negative difference. So, for all those of you who have also searched for that noise that resembles a banjo attack when playing JTV models that aren't a banjo, I encourage you to try each string alone. When I finally did that, the problem was TOTALLY obvious. Now, does anyone know if it is possible to change the piezo on just the 3rd string or how do I go about getting it so that 3rd string doesn't quack when strummed hard? I am happy with my current solution but wondering. I noticed the piezos on the Line 6 store don't work on the JTV. GOOD LUCK!

    Guitar Amp Advice

Don't know what model has 50W but I LOVE my Blackstar amp. Great sound.
  7. Hi Lindsay: Sorry I didn't notice your message right away. My general way of working is to create patches for each song that are stored in folders that are named for each song. As I put together my setlist for each week I copy those patches into the HD500. The order doesn't matter since I use a midi command to pull them up. I use Ableton Live for clicktrack playback. For as much as Ableton does well, one thing it doesn't do well is allow for external midi device commands easily. In fact you can't record external midi patch changes. Just midi CC changes. So what I did took some work but now it's easy since I have it set up. First I purchased a midi device (http://midisolutions.com/prodevp.htm) that translates one midi command into another (as you define). I then downloaded an app for my ipad called TouchOSC. I used it to create my own midi device on the ipad that has 127 buttons. Each button is assigned a midi CC 25 message with a value from 1-127 (representing patch numbers). I simply record into Ableton from my iPad where I want the patch changes to take place inside of each click track. Then when I play it back it goes thru the midi event processor device that changes changes the cc message back into a program change command that the HD500 can understand. Works perfect and NEVER have any problems. Another benefit of doing this is that any time I use a time dependant effect like delay it automatticaly syncs to the tempo of the song. For a while I kept one huge Ableton session that had all of our songs in it. That way I never had to copy patches back into the HD500. Recently however I went back to creating a new Ableton session for each week and copyoing the patches into the HD500. Sounds complicated but it's not. Feel free to contact my if I can offer any help. Midi Clock Sync?

Absolutely. Make sure to choose the global option and you are good to go.
  9. I posted that same request recently on the idea site. Please go like my post and maybe we can get somewhere with this idea.
  10. I am only an AVERAGE guitar player. Self taught. Lead worship every week with my JTV69 and an HD500. I spent several hours this afternoon simply listening to many different guitar models and amp combinations over our house PA. Wow! I can't believe the sound with the newest update. Thanks Line 6!
  11. Use mine every Sunday. I don't think I can say I have any one setup I use more than others. I also don't try to copy sounds from the recordings. I like to create my patches for what works for me in my situation (I program in the main sanctuary using the main P.A. as my reference). I also use click tracks to keep lighting and video in sync so I put midi patch changes into the click track laptop and those happen for me within every song. Love it!
