  1. I'm writing a song that uses a square or saw tooth tremelo effect synced to the beat with a 100% intensity for the primary rhythm element. I've found that though you can sync the tempo to the track, you can't control the start of the tremelo cycle with the DAW to sync it up with other elements. This means that each time you start the track, the phase of the cycle may not be what you expect. That makes it very difficult to sync up properly... For example, I've set up a sine wave generator, then an instance of Helix Native with a single Modulation > Mono > Tremelo: I've then set up my DAW to enable the effect at a particular spot in the "song" so that the effect would theoretically start the cycle the same each time. Then, I rendered the same section of song 3 times and added them to the project. As you can see, the first bar is the solid block sine wave, and then the tremelo effect is kicked on. You'll notice that the phase of each cycle is quite different, even though they all are turned on at the exact same time. (Three may have been me accidentally leaving one unmuted before the next render) Next, I attempted to bypass the Helix plugin entirely, rather than just the tremelo effect block. The same behavior is exhibited. The start time of the cycle is entirely unpredictable, and appears to simply be running non-stop after you load the plugin into memory or something. As suspected, this is true for other Modulation effects as well. Here's the same test using a whole not with the Script Mod Phase effect: Helix Native needs to honor the Host Sync's start event (assuming that actually exists) to reset it's LFO for Modulation effects. Otherwise, results are unpredictable and potentially unusable during rendering. :( I haven't tested the Helix Floor pedal to see if the bypass/enable of a trem effect resets the LFO, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had the same basic problem...
  2. Basically there is a tempo issue on HEILX that it didn't receive the midi clock message from other musical devices thru midi in ports. But there are some clues. Basically there are 3 basic midi messages about midi clock. -"Song Start" (decimal 250, hex 0xFA) It is a midi message for allowing device to start receiving the midi clock message until receiving the "Song Stop" message. (Sync) -"Timing Clock" (decimal 248, hex 0xF8) As the "Song Start" message received, the musical device calculate the bpm thru receiving timing clock message 24times per 1/4 note. For example, if I send a 120 bpm, then HELIX receive the 96 Timing Clock messages on 2 seconds. So the helix recognize it as 120bpm if it worked normally (it didn't ;/) -"Song Stop" (decimal 252, hex 0xFC) If this messages sent to a device, the device starts to ignore the Timing Clock message until they receive the Song Start message again. (Not sync) The main problem of the HELIX is it didn't receive the TIMING CLOCK messages. If I modulate the mid source to only send a SongStart , SongStop, the magical thing happens. The tempo is maintained as I set already on (per preset or per snapshot, or Global) and it pick the perfect timing for starting point.(That is perfect!!) But the problem is that some Modulation models(which can change the rate setting fit on bpm ex) 1/4 1/8Dot...) and Filter models which also contain rate parameter, didn't even response on Song Start messages. So the method I use upper is a half soultion to use midi well. 1. Set the preset or snapshot bpm as you desire. 2. Send only Song Start message. 3. When you want to stop, send Song Stop message My Question is this: Is it possible to fix this midi tempo issue? Or is there any temporary solutions to use right now?
  3. First of all, thanks for reading. I've searched throughout this forum, youtube and google in general, but haven't found an answer to my question. Most of the posts I've seen are about MIDI sync for effects, like delay tempos. I see that in FW 2.20, a "Global Settings > MIDI/Tempo > Receive MIDI Clock" option was added to allow Helix to receive a MIDI clock, which I can see working in this youtube video. However, what I'd like to know is if the built-in looper can sync with the incoming MIDI clock. That would mean that the looper's start/stop/overdub controls would lock to the nearest incoming MIDI clock pulse, so that the recorded loop would stay perfectly in sync with MIDI. This would allow a tight integration between a loop in the Helix with other external sequenced music that was providing a MIDI clock. Other dedicated loopers such as the Pigtronix Infinity Looper, Boomerang |||, Electro-Harmonix 2880 and EHX 45000 can all do this. Does anyone know if this is possible? Can anyone connect their Helix via MIDI to an external MIDI clock generator (most MIDI-capable keyboards, sequencers and DAWs can do this) and see if the looper timing can be synced to the MIDI clock without any drift? Bonus points if there's a youtube video showing this working :D :D Not knowing this is the only thing keeping me from buying a Helix! Thanks, Cowboy

  5. Can the looper be Midi controlled to start and stop recording? I've been writing some tunes that for live use I could really use a the looper on the helix but we play with a click and I've been working on midi clocking my preset for the set list and it got me thinking if I could set it up loops to match up with the click.
  6. Hello, I'm new here. I was hoping to get some help with my Helix Native install and Helix Floor pedal. I just discovered HX Edit this afternoon and very much enjoyed how both the pedal and the software are synced. I was surprised and disappointed to find that this same configuration didn't port over to Helix Native on launch. I came from a Guitar Rig setup where the pedal could navigate and interact with the plugin. I didn't put much effort into that pedal, so I was kind of expecting the same results. Can anyone tell me how make Helix Native sync up like HX Edit does in FL Studio with my Helix Floor pedal? Thank you kindly for your help!
  7. I cannot get the midi clock from my sequencer to affect the tempos in Helix. What am I doing wrong? Where can find good documentation? I'm using an MPC 1000 sequencer - it's midi out is plugged into the midi in of the Helix. Nothing is happening at all.
  8. Hello! Is there in Helix Floor, any posibility to sync tempo-based effects to external midi-clock? Always when i'm sending tempo, TAP blinks blue, thats fine. But if choose like filter step-frequency (or any other tempo-based parameter) to for example 1\4, it does nothing, not matching external-BPM. The same is for delay, tremolo, phaser etc.
  9. Hi, I'm trying to sync the tempo in the POD by sending the clock from my DAW (Reaper) via midi. I have two problems. 1.The POD only syncs the tempo when I go to the midi page in the system settings or when I press a footswitch. 2.The synchronized tempo always drifts by -/+0.2bpm and takes a bit of time to sync. I tried with both global and preset options for the tempo. Is there some workaround for these problems? What I'm trying to do is to play backing tracks with tempo changes during the playback and I would like the tempo in the POD to sync with the DAW without me having to press footswitches and without any drifting. Any advice or setting i'm missing in the DAW or in the POD? Thank you
  10. I bought a Helix last month and love the sounds and intuitive interface. However, I was sold one from Sweetwater on the promise that it would seamlessly integrate with other pieces of hardware and software via midi. My show is run through ableton, and I was told that it could do everything I needed. It could even program ableton to send midi messages to change my presets, blocks, settings etc. How great! Less time hopping around and more time performing and interacting with the audience. Once I got the unit, before setting up any complicated midi configuration, I simply wanted the unit to read tempos from ableton, so that all of my delays, trems, etc could be synced up without having to awkwardly tap tempo every song. If the helix could change presets and settings based on midi, I assumed this would be an obvious part of it's capabilities. It was not. I called Sweetwater and Line 6 customer service, both of whom seemed equally surprised by my complaint and needed to put me on hold to double check. Both came back with an apologetic tone about how this isn't a feature, but should be. More and more acts are running hybrid sets leveraging ableton, and midi sync needs to be addressed immediately. If it is not, I will be selling my unit and making sure to steer other musicians away. Please address!
  11. I've found myself with two AMPLIFI devices, and have a somewhat different use for them. Basically, I like to use the Amplifi 30 as an everyday practice and rehearsal tool, and for creating tones. I'm subbing for a guitarist in a band temporarily, and playing live with an Amplifi FX 100 going into the PA and a backline guitar amp. I'm new to the Amplifi devices, and -- try as I might -- I'm not finding clear information on how to save my tones and share them between devices. Ideally, I would like to have both devices fully 'synced' with the same tones in the same banks, but would be happy to start out by just being able to copy over a few tones form one device to the other. I've seen references to Facebook and Twitter sharing of tones, but don't know how to sort out all the details to accomplish this. Seems like it would be easy enough to simply share a tone with another FB or Twitter user, but can I share a tone there with myself, and put it on either of my Amplifi devices? Both of my Amplifi devices connect to my Android phone and iPad via bluetooth, and both are associated with the same Line6 account. Does this make it easier or more complicated for what I want to do? Help! Thanks for any suggestions.
  12. Hello there! I bought a used Pocket Pod and it doesn't have any presets: the 4 way button doesn't recall any settings as it should according to the manual. I tried syncing Pocket Pod factory SQS file, but transfer status is stuck at "Now syncing entire set to Pocketpod". What am I doing wrong? Please help. Thanks.
  13. Since updating my Pod Pro HD with firmware 2.62, it will seize up in sync mode after a minute or two of editing with the latest and previous versions of HD Edit software. Has anyone else seen this issue?

    MIDI Clock

Hi everyone! This is mostly directed toward Line 6, because I think a lot of potential buyers would like to know. I have a ton of pedals and use a lot of them live. I have some of them synced to MIDI clock, and one that sends a metronome to my drummer, so I can use tempo based effects live, such as tremolo, step filter, delay etc. The Helix is amazing! It does most of what my current rig does, plus so many things you can't do with an analog rig at all. And obviously it sounds amazing as well, as one might expect from Line 6. I would buy a Helix to replace my current rig this year if it could send MIDI clock. Are there plans to incorporate a MIDI clock? If so, will it come in a firmware update, or will it require a new hardware design? Thank you!!!
  15. So I set my Pod farm 2 at 16 bit, 48hz but when recording commentary for hours and syncing it up to gameplay. The intro to the gameplay is perfectly synced but 20 min into gameplay its somehow de-syncs. All of my commentary files are listed as 48hz but clearly they are not (more like 44.1hz) also when setting podfarm to 48hz its sometime default to 44.1 Podfarm 2 ASIO Setting Default buffer size: 512 Default Bit depth: 16 bit Reaper Project project sample rate 48hz render resample HQ (512pt sinc) Render to WAV 16bit PCM auto wav/wave64 Not really sure if i'm doing something wrong or Pod farm doesn't send the correct sounds to Reaper. BUT please can anyone help me? :'(
  16. Hello. I bought a Korg Volca Sampler to create drum patterns to complete my one man perfoming, but i've a problem with the sync of the tempos. My pedals are: (the amp is always the same, it has diferent inputs for diferent devices) Guitar -----> PODxt-----> Boss RC-30 ------> Amp Korg Volca Sampler------> Amp I've noticed that the Boss RC-30 doesn't have MIDI SYNC to late :/ So my question is, can I syncronize the tap tempo of the PODxt and the Volca with a MIDI cable? Cheers from Argentina.
  17. Hello, I'm trying to fully integrate the PODHD500x with Ableton Live so that I can use the "Looper" device in Ableton, because I want the master clock to be Ableton so that my loops are always in sync and in the right Time Signature depending of what track I'm running. So to clear some info about my setup. I'm already sending and receiving MIDI from Ableton through the POD. At this moment I can send program changes from Ableton to switch presets and banks in the hardware. Also I can even control specific devices in the Hardware, like for example sending Midi to the POD to activate FX and Modulate the Expression pedals. So this chapter is working like a charm. What is missing though is a way to use the Looper in the POD to control Ableton Live's Looper. So at this point I'm already sending MIDI to Looper. The way I've managed to don't have the POD's Looper over Ableton's Looper was to turn the playback volume of Looper on the POD to 0. This way I can only listen the Looper from Ableton. Now the biggest problem arises from the button behaviour in the POD itself when the looper switch is Activated. Because the REC and Overdub (as also the the PLAY and STOP) use the same Switch (alternately) mapping it to Ableton creates a problem that involves having to press twice for the Switch to do it's defined midi function. So the way I have it set up is by using 6 Switches. a) Switch #1 (FS5) - REC a) Switch #2 (FS6) - PLAY a) Switch #3 (FS7) - OVERDUB a) Switch #4 (FS8) - STOP a) Switch #5 (FS1) - UNDO a) Switch #6 (FS2) - CLEAR But for this to work as a normal Midi Looper too this buttons need to have an option to work as momentary and only send one CC event. So my suggestion is to have an option in the Hardware itself to "Bypass the Looper's Switches functions" (making all the FS switches "MOMENTARY" OR "NOTE") so that If anyone wants to use the Looper function as a MIDI CC's it won't be limited because of the way the Switches Work in the POD. Let me know what you guys think of this :) Thank you Andregmendes.com
  18. I'm having a problem getting my Vax 300 to sync with my workbench. It connects fine, works in the program, changes the patches ad I can hear it, but won't send to the guitar or when I click sync it says my Vax has timed out and is no longer connected. Any ideas? All firmware in everything is totally up to date.

    Midi Clock Sync?

I was just wondering if was possible to Sync my POD HD 500x's tap tempo speed with my DAW's (ableton) midi clock, when it is plugged into my computer.
  20. I have created several tones and stored them in the USER 1, 2 and 3 slots and as L6T files on my computer and I have stored the entire bank as an SQS file. I renamed those slots to Compressor, Compressor Echo and Crunchy respectively. I opened the SQS file and clicked to sync it with the Pod and everything seems to work fine as the tones were on the Pod where I stored them. I exited the editor and disconnected the USB cable and the tones remain on the POD and I can up and down arrow between them. Once I hit a left or right arrow, the tones disappear and it's back to USER 1, 2 and 3. I then tried loading the L6T files in the USER slots in the virtual editor and synced them manually with the Pod. Same result. Can someone point out what's wrong with my process that is keeping this simple save from working? Thanks...
