  1. Great to hear you got it resolved and thanks for posting back so other people can benefit from your observation. Sounds like you figured it out anyway but that is why I suggested trying another guitar. So many moving parts with this stuff that swapping out anything you can(guitar, cable, USB port, monitor, etc.) often helps to pinpoint these elusive issues.
  2. I would uninstall the Line6 software and driver. Disconnect any non-critical peripheral devices. Reboot my PC. It almost sounds like you are downloading the 3.0 flash/firmware file rather than HX Edit but still not exactly sure from your post. Download the HX Edit 3.0 file from the website(don't download the flash file, just HX Edit), you will have to scroll down to get to the HX Edit 3.0 file. Install HX Edit 3.0 again with all the checkboxes checked.
  3. Judging by that last line in your post you may already have checked this but any chance something might be gating in your signal path like a compressor or the gate on the input block? Or maybe putting a compressor in front of it might help ensure a more consistent signal? Strange that you are only noticing it on one string. Does this happen with different amp blocks or a different guitar? Does moving the 12 string block to another position in your signal chain help?
  4. Just a note on posting. You can comment under/over(outside the frame) of someone else's quoted post but still within your post instead of quoting in one post and commenting in the next. More efficient and easier to follow. I mentioned the joystick because I am not particularly fond of that particular part of the Helix design although mine has served me flawlessly for many years now. I prefer the Roland/Boss approach to joysticks which is more recessed and IMHO less prone to breakage or failure, particularly from an errant kick or knock or a tight padded case applying too much pressure from the top. Might last longer under heavy usage as well. Could be wrong though since I don't have the MTB failure or total number of failures stats. I know a certain number of devices have had cold solder joints and have seen several posts over the years regarding the joystick failing but nothing approaching what you could call egregious.
  5. The first thing I would do is update to the latest 3.01.0 firmware. You will still be using HX Edit 3.0 as HX Edit 3.01.0 does not exist. There were some non-specific bugfixes in this quickfix firmware release. Maybe they will resolve your issue.
  6. Are you running HX Edit 3.0? If you have not tried this already just click on the icon with the version number at the bottom of the HX Edit screen. This will bring up a dialog box you can check for updates from. Worked for me.
  7. Can get it to connect when I turn WIFI off and just use tower but the app does not respond to any commands. Finally uninstalled the Amplifi app and reinstalled it and now everything is connecting and working again with WIFI on. Unfortunately with frequent disconnects. My Amplifi always seemed to suffer from that but it seems worse now.
  8. Mine is not working on an iPhone 11 now either. It used to. Think it might be the latest iOS version causing the problem.
  9. You make a good point. Anyway, most people will hopefully be updating to 3.01.0 through HX Edit 3.0 rather than using the Updater and downloading the flash/firmware file from the website. Just appears that the way the Downloads page is set up while the editor, firmware, Native versions are out of synch has the potential to cause confusion. Already did. I'm sure everyone will figure it out. Hardly a calamity.
  10. I see what you mean from a consistency standpoint but changing it would get more people migrated more quickly over to the 3.01.0 firmware. Line6 have implied that it is a very good idea to get up to 3.01.0 immediately. They want everyone on HX Edit 3.0 to upgrade to the 3.01.0 firmware. Setting up the download menu this way does not help accomplish that. Worth repeating though that for now, if a user is trying to find the latest firmware and editor releases for a device, just select the device. Don't select from the '- All Software -' dropdown menu.
  11. That "blonde chick" is Nita Strauss and she is rippingly good. Had the pleasure of seeing her playing with Alice Cooper when they toured with Deep Purple. She was phenomenal and if she outshone Jen Majura in that video it is because she is an excellent player and a great performer.
  12. First of course you have to be on HX Edit 3.0 and either the 3.0 or 3.01.0 firmware. I believe all of the poly effects are only available in mono so make sure you look for them under the "Mono" effects under their respective categories, e.g. 'Modulation', 'Pitch/Synth'.
  13. Jen Majura of Evanescence uses a Helix. Don't know if this one has been posted already, too many posts to go through.
  14. Check out the solution to the SD card issue phil_m mentions above, if that is not your issue please proceed. You mention "Neither Helix Edit nor Helix Native will update to 3.0" . Do you mean they won't install or they don't come up when you open them? Have you downloaded and installed the 3.0 versions of HX Edit and Native? Just updating the firmware is only half of the update operation. I would try taking backups and uninstalling them first. Then download and install again. See datacommando's post above a few posts before this one for detailed instructions.
  15. If it really is that far off then maybe before the solutions I describe become available we will see the standard for pickup technology and its wiring change to defaulting to providing some kind of a multi-channel hex pickup solution instead of the current "mono" pickups that are the norm. Kind of like the way we moved from mono to stereo and even multi-channel standards for recorded music. For the most part pickup technology with some specialized exceptions has not changed in decades and is a lot like owning one of those huge phones from the 60's that make the young'uns titter. We saw evolution in the networking world provide more channels for data and innovations like fiber optic for faster and more discrete transmission of data. Now these solutions are commonplace in providing internet service to millions of homes. Maybe we are overdue for changes in pickup tech.
  16. Let's not start any destructive narratives here. According to Line6 it is important to update to the 3.01.0 firmware for the the bugfixes contained therein. There is a big difference between asking for assistance to navigate properly on the downloads page and saying something doesn't exist. Don't mean to sound harsh. I suppose there is always the chance that the download was momentarily unavailable, although it seems unlikely. Just want to make sure no rumors get started that prevent people from updating. Edit: (Thanks MusicLaw) Looks like if you select "HX Edit" from the '- All Software - ' dropdown menu it does not show the 3.01.0 firmware. You should just select the device, e.g. Helix from the '- All Hardware -' menu and your OS. My apologies to the users above. I can more easily see why they made the assumption they did if that is how they selected from the Downloads page. Line6 might want to consider changing this as MusicLaw suggested. The 3.01.0 firmware is still available!
  17. I am not so sure there isn't an algorithm that can pick and choose without using string signal separated e.g. hex, pickups. Although it is not directly analogous a lot of work has been done on voice recognition of late with smart home technology and security. Differentiating one voice from another as well as picking a voice out in a crowded or noisy environment. Separating the wheat from the chaff, filtering out the "noise". In addition to what is happening in the guitar world there are probably a healthy number of developers trying to use timbre more effectively for processing. The barrier at this point may just be cost and latency. Getting enough low priced processing power to effectively filter out meaningful signal and getting the processing time down low enough so that it can be used in something approaching real time. Sooner than we think it might come down to how inexpensively we can deliver this tech rather than ability to execute.
  18. One thing I might try at this point is taking backups and then trying to restore from an earlier set of backups if you have one, different than the backup you used for your most recent restore. Perhaps something got corrupted in your last restore but maybe the backup was corrupt. Once you get the preset thing straightened out another thing to look at is your global settings which may now be different than your previous settings.
  19. I would try a self-test reset on the Helix. On the Helix hold down footswitches 3&4 while starting. Select the UI test(first one in list) with the joystick and click it down. This will put you in a screen where all your buttons, knobs, and expression pedal can be tested. You can then rock the expression pedal and look for the "PDL 1" setting to change. Don't worry about the values, you are just testing to see if the numbers change through the full travel of the pedal. This will at least let you know if the issue is occurring at the low level diagnostic testing. If it is I would probably open a help ticket with Line6. If not you may want to look for a problem with your expression pedal settings, presets, try a global reset, or if necessary download HX Edit 3.0 and update again to the 3.01.0 firmware. Backups first as always.
  20. There is no manual calibration. They calibrate automatically. Assuming you already tried restarting the device.
  21. What DunedinDragon said and different sample rates. Also you can fit one 2048 IR or two 1024 IRs on each path.
  22. Nice sentiment. Sure, buy any one of the numerous offerings in their product line or upgrade to the next latest and greatest but please don't be the kid who raises his hand and asks the teacher for extra homework.
  23. The Helix model it is not a one to one emulation of the controls on the Xotic. The attack and release controls are presets via internal DIP switches on the Xotic whereas they are variable parameters on the Helix. Don't know what values Xotic uses for these. I would find something that works for you for these two settings. The Xotic also has DIP switches for an input pad and although it is not really the same thing the Helix has one of those in global settings so maybe they left it out. Same thing goes for the DIP switch hi-cut on the Xotic; can be found elsewhere on the Helix. Use the new gain reduction meters on the Helix to get the sensitivity dialed in right. Rough mapping of the respective controls is below. I did a general writeup on compression(before this pedal was added) you might or might not find helpful in getting ideas for settings. Xotic SP Helix Volume Level (otherwise known as makeup gain) Blend Mix Hi-Mid-Lo Sensitivity Internal DIP switches(Attack) Attack Internal DIP switches(Release) Release Internal DIP switches(Input Pad) Guess you could use the Input pad in Helix's global settings but not to exactly the same result Internal DIP switches(Hi-Cut) Hi-Cut maybe use the parametric EQ's Hi-cut or a Hi/Low cut block before or after compressor
  24. Assuming you already tried the "Check For Updates" link at the bottom of HX Edit or click on the icon next to the version number and update from the dialog box there. If the firmware can not be updated from HX Edit you may want to use the standalone Updater as an alternative.. Take backups first. To check for the firmware version go to 'Help' --> 'About HX Edit' in the top menu. This will show you the HX Edit version and the firmware version. You should see 3.0 for HX Edit and 3.01.0 for the firmware. Thought that was worth highlighting as a lot of users who are updating will be seeing only "3.01" after the 3.01.0 firmware update if they are just looking at the icon and version at the bottom of HX Edit. Things can get a little confusing when the HX Edit and firmware versions get out of synch. Just wait till the next version of HX Edit drops.
