  1. Try to follow the wire back from the center of the 1/4 inch jack and see if you can spot the analog stuff. Maybe there is a broken wire or damaged component. I have never seen a schematic so I can't help you any more than that.
  2. Check all of your connections. Maybe one of the cables isn't seated in it's connector. VDI and 1/4 are different outputs from the board.
  3. Sounds like a bad connector. Look closely at the pins and see if they are straight and undamaged. (Both Variax and Pod ends) But it's most likely the Pod end if it works on a different pod.
  4. License Manager is only needed for products that have licenses. Variax does not need it. Just install Latest Monkey and WB from the support site.
  5. I have used the open G tuning but I have not gone in and turned off the low E. Easy to do though.
  6. The interface works but you have to use the old Workbench with the 300.
  7. Not hearing any clipping. But if I did, I would lower the gain of the analog amplifier stage before the A/D's.
  8. It was not me. I have a 69S but with the stock bridge and pickups. I put the ghost pickups on my 500 over a year ago. I have not had any dropout problems yet with my 69S but I had them a few times with the 500 and I am absolutely sure it was grounding. I could always get it back by fooling with the bridge. The fixed bridge on the 500 was a good match for the ghost Strat pickups with the screw in the center. I think they make offset ones now that may work with the JTV 69 but I have not looked into that other than seeing what goes on here. The 500 sounds better with the ghost pickups but I had to drop the string volumes to about 50% to handle the far greater output from them.
  9. It's easy to make a plastic shim to keep the trem in place when changing strings. Most times, I replace them one at a time anyway.
  10. I agree that grounding is most likely the issue. I had this problem on my 500 for many years on and off. I would wiggle things and it would work well again for a while. I replaced the pickups with Ghost pickups that had two wires each and that cured the problem.
  11. The Variax 700 is a great guitar. Yes the modeling isn't as new as the JTV but it's still very good. Many would probably rate the build quality of the 700 as better than any of the other Variax models.
  12. No it should not be that way. Try several models and if they are all that way, you probably have an electronics problem.
  13. I have both. Much prefer the HD500x over the X3!
  14. When I got my 69S from Sweetwater, they had pictures of each guitar and it was obvious that some of them had the neck aligned wrong and the strings were not centered on the higher frets but were centered at the nut. I made sure the one I picked was not like that.
  15. Looks fine to me. If you don't like it that way (I think the High E should be closer to edge than low E) then move the nut over a bit. Easy to do.
  16. You could try to reseat the connectors inside and maybe you will get lucky. It's defective the way it is.
  17. My HD500x sounds great hooked up to my laptop when used as an output device. I have it going to a powered PA speaker that I play guitar through also but I can play along with any thing that I have on my Laptop.
  18. I would either send it back for another or send it Line6. It's not right. Check the serial number. I bet it's an old one.
  19. ?????? My JTV69S has plenty of bottom end on most of the electric models. The Tele and Les Paul have more bottom end than I think they should have. The strat is about right. Try adjusting things with WB. You can make things completely different by fooling with pickups, pickup positions, etc. I personally like most of the models just as they are. (Latest HD FW)
  20. You need to find out if it's the battery or the charger or the guitar. You are unplugging your 1/4 inch cable when not playing I assume. Turning the volume down reduces the draw but not to zero.
  21. Never heard of this. Not sure what a Honk is anyway.
  22. Got to be something with the bridge saddles for that string since you say it's there when you fret the string. (eliminates the nut)
  23. Sounds like those patches are using the Mag pickups as well as the modeling. The Mags will pickup the std tuning.
  24. My 7 year old car (with lots of firmware in it) still works same as new. I too would like updates but the only thing they really owe us is bug fixes not additional features.
