  1. Those things being emulated are picked up by their measurement equipment when they characterize the instrument to be modeled. They used the same technique to model amps. Folks complained about some of the modeled features of amps but the real ones had those features.
  2. From what I remember, the Line6 models are measured on the actual guitars using acoustic sensors. They don't make up the models and "throw in reverb".
  3. Not true. The body vibrations can ring as long as the material supports it based on the damping ratio. Most solid body guitars won't ring much.
  4. Body vibrations can act like reverb since they continue after a note is played. Notes have Attack and Decay like Reverb does. I would call it vibration modes rather than reverb but all guitars have them.
  5. The usual way this connector gets damaged is when we try to plug a 1/4 inch plug in there by feel. That's why they now have a flap over it on the JTV and why they shipped the earlier Variax with a rubber cover. The plug fits in far enough to damage the pins. If you carefully straighten them it will work again.
  6. The Alt tunings are all relative to the actual tuning so if you change the actual tuning, the alt tunings will be shifted. If your actual tuning is out of tune, the alts will be out of tune.
  7. I used the Strat style ones on my Variax 500.
  8. Try running your laptop without the power source. It will probably be dead quiet. I had this problem when using my pod with my combo amp. I now use a powered PA speaker and a balanced XLR connection and it is dead quiet even with my laptop power supply connected.
  9. You did not say if it hummed with nothing plugged in to any inputs.
  10. It goes over the Variax input to protect it from damage when you are not using it.
  11. Cool! I did not think that WB supported the Acoustic. I have one but I have never tried it with WB.
  12. Often you can get a new neck cheaper then a refret. The 69S is most like your old 600. Replacing Piezos is not hard and that's probably what caused your low volume problem. It may not be a bad one - just a poor contact with the string. Try new strings and a good cleaning around the bridge.
  13. I don't think workbench works with the 700Acoustic.
  14. There is no calibration for anything except the Expression Pedal.
  15. I had ground loop noise when plugged into my Laptop when the laptop was also plugged into it's charger. I switched to using the balanced XLR output to my powered speaker and it's dead quiet now. I had the noise when plugged into the front of my combo amp but only when my laptop power supply was connected.
  16. It's possible but make sure you have the levels right. Line out is higher level than Instrument level. You will probably want to make a patch that bypasses everything if you want it to sound like your Randall.
  17. I would use XLR cable into that powered speaker. I have a very similar one made by EV and it sounds great with my 500x. I use the balanced XLR outputs from the pod. Make sure you are set to Studio Direct output mode.
  18. Something is very wrong. Variax model output should be at least as much as your typical guitar. It is normal for model outputs to vary. For instance, humbucker models are usually louder than single coil models. (Les Paul vs Strat) But the guitars they model also vary significantly. You should try reloading the FW and if that doesn't fix it, return the guitar because it just isn't right.
  19. If you have a pod you can connect that to your computer! You don't need the USB Dongle.
  20. Speaker cable is not shielded. It's intended to drive speakers directly. (Between amp and speaker cab) You want a shielded instrument cable to connect your pod to the front of an amp so you are already doing the right thing.
  21. Did you try to connect your pod to a PC and see if Monkey sees the JTV?
  22. You should be able to connect to a computer with your Pod and JTV hooked to it. You should have received a USB interface and a VDI cable with your JTV.
  23. Half step detune isn't any different than changing string gauge. A trem adjustment should cover it. Again, I would do this if I was going to always play in Eb.
