  1. Great! Locking tuners are a real nice upgrade. They make string changes a breeze and they stay in tune better.
  2. I have three Variax's never a problem and I don't have an ego problem like you do.
  3. You are Ranting at Line 6 I assume when you say "Maybe you should..." You are barking up the wrong tree. We are users here. We help each other solve problems but we don't have anything to do with your problems.
  4. There may be some crosstalk between piezos that gives the tuner enough signal to tune to. How are you connecting your Variax to the Pod? VDI or 1/4 inch?
  5. I am not sure who you are talking to here. This is a USER's Forum!!!!!
  6. Sounds like the Virtual Capo isn't designed to work correctly if the guitar isn't tuned to Std pitch. Did you try doing it in Workbench?
  7. I have the same EV speaker. Sounds very good - especially for Acoustic models with my JTV.
  8. I use a powered PA. You can always turn it down. More power is more headroom.
  9. All I can tell you is that there is an amplifier circuit and A/D converters for each string but I believe that they are using a multiple A/D chip that may handle three strings. I am an EE and I would feel comfortable troubleshooting this problem myself but I am not recommending that unless you have an understanding of electronics and the tools to troubleshoot the board. I would start by swapping the piezo inputs and see for sure that the problem does not follow the piezos. After that, you have to determine which chip to replace on the board, find a replacement, and go about replacing it. Not for someone not experienced in this kind of work. If you can isolate the problem to the board, you could try to find a replacement. Maybe Line6 would allow you to send them just the board for repair / replacement but I would not count on that. Sorry I can't help more.
  10. Depends on your skills. (both debug and desolder / solder)
  11. Most likely the A/D or amplifier chip for those three strings failed. I agree that three Piezos don't fail at once.
  12. If the store staff are not trained and experienced, then the Variax will not show well to uninformed customers.

I am waiting for the PC interface before I buy.
  14. From what I gather, you would be dropping down a level in the modeling.
  15. I strongly recommend that you use batteries if you are not using the VDI cable. The XPS can be a ground loop noise generator.
  16. I don't do this but you should be able to run the VDI and 1/4 inch at the same time into the HD. If you switch the modeling off, the 1/4 inch should be the raw mag signal.
  17. It should have come with all of the allen wrenches needed to do adjustments. I have never purchased a guitar that was set up to my liking out of the box. I had to do some minor tweaks to my JTV69S too. All guitars need a good setup out of the box. Glad you got yours to your liking. I really like mine and I play it far more than any of my other guitars.
  18. The 1/4 inch mag signal is passive just like a normal guitar. The VDI is processed - has to be because it's digital.
  19. Are you sure you are not suffering from the earlier WB bug that turned off one of the pickups in the 2 and 4 position. That eliminated the quack. The 2 and 4 position sound very good on my JTV9s. (v2.1) You can go in with WB and mess with the pickups and change the sounds a lot.
  20. Bigger display would be nice but it would also be much easier to damage. I rely on the Edit program for all of my changes because I can't deal with the display down on the floor.
  21. I get single coil noise too but it's not any worse with my 500x than straight into the amp. If you use more gain, it will be worse though. My JTV and my Strat with EMG actives are dead quiet.
  22. Bottom line - if you like the old 1.9 models better, stick with 1.9. If you like the 2.1 models better, stick with 2.1. It's your choice. I prefer 2.1.
