ok let's get a few things worked out. This amp has FX Send and Returns. I couldn't find anything like a Speaker out or Speaker in. Are you using the FX Send to your Power amp ? You should use the Emulated Line Out to the Power amp then have the Power amp return and power the speaker, from what I can tell.

DRIVER NOT EQUAL OR LESS WHILE CONNECTING HD500 to LAPTOP (windows 8.1)
joel_brown replied to abinash_ihd's topic in POD HD
Do you have to use your PODHD as the audio interface ? If you don't then change it and hopefully the problem will go away. This error is usually caused by the PODHD driver trying to reference a kernal pageable memory address or an address that is invalid. In other words, a driver bug, call Line6. I seriously doubt anyone on here can help you. If they can I'm sure Line6 or Microsoft would like to hire them. -
And how are you connecting them ?
-
There's a lot more parameters in the PODHD to tweak than just mic and cab. And some of the default settings of these other parameters need to be changed. Spend some time tweaking everything and reading some posts here. It'll be frustrating at first but worth it in the end.

So you're having a problem when you try to select a Marshall SL5 combo amp and run it through another Power amp ? How are you connecting the SL5 to the Fryette Power amp ? From what you explained you're connecting a PreAmp/PowerAmp and running it through another PowerAmp. Yeah that would feedback and should have blown up.

In a pickle: Helix vs Pod but what do I really need?
joel_brown replied to cacheek's topic in POD HD
Here's a thought, get a better job and buy some condoms. Until then find a used HD500 on eBay and take care of your kid. -
I wouldn't bother opening it up. If it didn't work before then I seriously doubt there's anything you can do to fix it. I wouldn't even bother to glue the knob back on if it doesn't work.
-
On a scale of 1 to 100% I'd say they're about 1% obvious.
-
Here's a thought and they already did it with the X version. Put an even bigger processor in it that runs dual amps with more FX. Make the DSP limit go away or at least a little further away.
-
Here's my take. I'm not paying anymore than $500 for anything - electronics get cheaper. Line6 can re-vamp the 500x into the 600x for the same price point. Then include a little better processor, user installable IRs, and more and better sounding amps/cabs. Oh and maybe create some decent presets before shipping it out.

We need to see your tax returns for the past 3 years and a listing of all your debts. -
In a pickle: Helix vs Pod but what do I really need?
joel_brown replied to cacheek's topic in POD HD
Hmmm, sold most of your equipment for your first child ? Unless you now make more money, buy the PODHD. Or better yet, if you haven't found a better job, go find one then buy the Helix. They both sound great. It comes down to what you can afford. So re-read my above sentences... -
HELP FOR DOWNTUNING 6 string GUITAR using HD500!!!
joel_brown replied to abinash_ihd's topic in POD HD
Here we go again... Sometime this works and sometimes it doesn't. -
A bad power supply can cause that problem. Either measure the voltage of the power supply or borrow one from someone and try it.

Gott'a say that they Behringer VT999 is VERY interesting. The reviews on it are great and it's inexpensive too. Definitely want to hear some sound clips with and without it. This might be what I need to convert to an FRFR system.
-
If you get some time try these FRFRSamples. I'm not saying they're great but it makes for a starting to point to help you get started and understand it a little better. Covers single and dual amp design plus clean, blues, rock and heavy styles. Hopefully something will help point you in the right direction. LOTS OF TWEAKING WILL STILL BE REQUIRED. http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/FRFRSamples.zip These tones were made with a PODHD Desktop but the Zip file includes a converter util.
-
Oh, I forgot one important thing when talking about electronic versus acoustic drums. Someone needs to say "Tone is in the fingers".
-
Sorry, haven't heard e-drums that sound as good as real drums yet. Not saying it couldn't be done, just haven't seen or heard it yet. Believe me, I'd like to see it. It gets old tuning drums. Just like I get tired of lugging my Marshall amps around too. Still haven't got a patch into an FRFR system that is as good. It's close and getting closer. Glad to hear someone has it working and getting good results though. Gives me hope...

Ok, I need to chime in on this one. My main instrument is guitar but a close second is drums. I play in two bands and play drums in one of them. I've tried the electronic drums. They don't do it for me for several reasons. One is you are at the mercy of sound equipment and the person running it. Secondly, a properly tuned and properly played acoustic drum set sounds better and provides better dynamics. At least using acoustic drums I don't need to rely on someone else to screw it up for me. There's good reasons for both choices. Like any instrument, you have to tune it and play for it to sound good. I guess electronic drums fixes some of that problem.
-
I like Avenged Sevenfold and would gladly go see them if they ever played nearby. The others, not so much. Sabbath is playing nearby later this year and Iron Maiden is starting a tour soon but very few, if any, dates in the states. Yep, I'm in my fifties and like metal and rock. My money spends just as good as anyone's and if bands I grew up listening to play nearby I go see them. I remember watching my parents go see the music they grew up with when they were my age. It just kind'a seems like music in the states is only for young people now and once you're over 40 or 50 sorry we don't want your business.
-
Maybe some of the non-United States members can chime in here. Being an old rocker, I get sick of the crap I hear in the States compared to what I hear in the rest of the world. Why don't Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Raven, Metallica, Deep Purple, do more gigs in the States instead of overseas ?

podhd500x arrived today, do i need to install firnware?
joel_brown replied to elvissideburns84's topic in POD HD
I suggest doing the update first. Because if you happen to come up with some goods sounds THEN you update you might accidentally lose them. Not by anything the PODHD does wrong, just because you're not familiar with the update procedures and saving presets before updating. -
Yeah but it would be a little more than $500 bucks and wouldn't fit in a gig bag...hehe. But you're right, you could have thousands of amp models and FX all at the same time and tweak yourself into a coma.

Mainframe apps ? That's the first time I've EVER heard them called apps...lol. Those mainframe apps used to run on machines that would fill a wharehouse, cost millions of dollars, and took teams of people to run it. Actually they still do but they're a ton more powerful today.

I saw MVS running in a Windows VM. Kind'a freaked me out...
