  1. Slightly off topic but I bet Line6 is laughing at the ISP Theta Pro for $1295. Reviews have been anywhere from "No better than the PODHD" to "Doesn't compare to the Helix". Even the few that say it's great doesn't say it's better than the Helix.
  2. The X has barely anymore DSP and that's only because Line6 couldn't get the old processors anymore - they stopped making them.
  3. So in the eyes of the Lord it's ok to steal if we keep our mouths shut ?
  4. It's not stealing when they give it away by stupidity. Have you ever had a cashier give you the wrong change and kept it ? I've done both - I've kept it and other times I corrected them and gave it back.
  5. My guess is: Until the competition comes out with something significantly better than then PODHD for about the same money, we are not going to see anything new. The way things look right now, I doubt we'll see anything new for 2 years or more. Personally I'm very happy with the PODHD and if nothing came out for 5 years I'd be happy.
  6. It always worked for me too but I have heard other people's recordings where it had a bad warbling sound. Not saying there was something else in their patch that may have caused the issue.
  7. My 2 cents: The PODHD can make up for a guitar that is lacking. However, the guitar and pickups make a difference. I recently starting using Gibson pickups more after using Di'Marzzio, EMGs, Seymour Duncan, and a bunch of others over the years. It makes a difference. Sometimes when you think you can't ever achieve a certain tone, change the pickups. Pickups are cheaper than buying guitars and sometimes that's all you need.
  8. I tried it and it didn't work. Guess that got it fixed.
  9. Why ? Linux is a cheap alternative for people who want to run websites or database servers. Yeah it can do other stuff but why do you want to go to all this trouble for jamming with a backing track ? If you don't want to run Windows or OSx, just plug into your phone and jam along. Sheeeesh anything but what you're trying to do. If you have this much spare time you need to practice more...
  10. Nothing. I can get everything I need in the PODHD. The last thing I want to do is start adding pedals back in. That's one of the reasons I went to the PODHD was to get AWAY from that. Ok someone has to say it and I'll be the !@#hole. "Tone is in the fingers"
  11. I have some grocery store coupons... Anyone want those ?
  12. If you have the same guitar and amp as the person who built the patch then it would sound right. That is going to be a rare - about the same odds as hitting the lottery.
  13. Back in my day we had a stick and a string for a guitar - no amp. I used to work 27 hours a day and then get home and practice for another 2 hours before going to bed. Had to walk uphill to work, both ways, in the snow with cardboard shoes. In reality, when I was young and starting out, I bought cheap crap because that was all I could afford. If it made any sound at all I was grateful.
  14. Someone has to say it......... "Tone is in your fingers". We have plenty of guitar amps in the PODHD. If you can't get what you need, then you need to better learn the PODHD. Or more importantly - practice the guitar. That's the one single thing that will improve your sound the most.
  15. Line6 Monkey is the first piece of software you need to download, install, and run.
  16. I just use the Angel (ENGL) and nothing else.
  17. Old School setup for Hillbilly twang are a tight delay about 50ms. Use a clean channel on a Fender anything, a little compression, and a small touch of overdrive. Then use your neck pickup on a strat or ideally a Telecaster.
  18. In Windows 10 go to the Ease Of Access Center and there are options to help you.
  19. Line6 doesn't want you to buy more than four so you have to return one of them... (this should sound sarcastic when reading).
  20. I'm not adding anything that hasn't already been said except to confirm that I 100% agree with what they told you. Just one more person saying that's the way I'd do it too.
  21. Did you try his email: jzytecki@gmail.com
  22. Short of buying a Helix, it's the best buy in town.
  23. 1) Yes it has great high gain sounds. Don't expect it to sound great with out doing some work building a preset. 2) Yes but again don't expect it to sound great without some tweaking on your presets. I don't know of ANYTHING that can hook into random amps that don't sound right and make them great. 3) I'm very happy with the reverb and tape delay. It has a lot of options in this category. 4) It works very well into a guitar amp or straight into a P.A. but again you can't use the same presets. It has to be tweaked for each type of situation. It doesn't have an FX loop but there are ways to make it work like it does by returning it into itself through Input 2. It can do all these things but I want to stress that you are putting it into multiple different situations that will alter the sound a lot. A guitar amp/cab is a lot different than a P.A. system. The same presets on ANYTHING will sound different. I use my PODHD Desktop into the FX return of a Marshall head and cab. But if I try to use the same preset into a P.A. it's totally wrong. But I was able to spend a few hours and build a different preset for P.A. systems that sounded very close. I don't have any other gear, only the PODHD. No more pedals... but I still like to use my tube amps. I will be switching to a powered P.A. speaker at some point and going direct to the P.A. system for FOH.
  24. If I remember right, they're about the same.
  25. I don't have pedals anymore, just the PODHD and amp. But you're also asking people on the Line6 PODHD forum. There could be a slight bias here - just maybe. But I laugh at people using pedals. The hassle, expense, twisting knobs, the friggin' hum, wires...no thank you. Not that it sounds bad, although anyone can make good equipment sound bad.
