How is it connected to whatever you're using for an amp ? Need more info. Kind'a like saying you're car isn't running right, anyone have any suggestions.

Back then a GoPro was a Polaroid camera duct taped to your helmet.

I'd post a link to a 3 way electrical tester but for the past 4 years this friggin forum won't let me do it. Google 3 way electrical tester and order one. They're about $20 USD.

It was meant to be a joke. Lighten up... There are some people who think the moon landing was faked.

My modeler sounds better since I mounted it on a Rosewood base plate. I've heard some people using Ebony but Rosewood gives a more organic tone. Sheeeesh - we need to pass out Snickers bars to some of the people in here. They turn into real Divas when they're hungry.
-
They both sounded about the same to me with a slight edge to the Helix. Neither sounded as good as my friend's hot rodded Plexi. But I haven't heard anything from anybody that really simulates that true analogue sputter and richness of a well setup tube amp - not even a stock tube amp. I guess I'm asking for too much. In reality they all sound plenty good for 99.9% of the people that will hear it. I'm keeping my PODHD for now. I'm also keeping my Marshall amps that I plug my PODHD into. Although I'm trying hard to switch to FRFR. Getting tired of lugging around heavy equipment. Thanks for posting this video.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try the PitchGlide again. I tried it once before and it gave me a strange phasing effect but I may not have been doing it correctly. I use 2 amps/cabs when playing live and the 20ms digital delay works pretty good when the cabs are spread apart. I tried the 57 off axis at first but it wasn't doing it for me. I'm trying to match the tone a friend of mine has with his hot rodded Plexi. This seemed to come the closest so far. I wanted to make sure the tone wasn't fizzy or had any other unwanted artifacts in it. A fresh set of ears from other guitarists is really helpful.

I'm trying to switch to an FRFR system and have tried to create a high gain classic rock type tone. I would like to get some feedback from some of you that are already doing FRFR systems and see if I'm close. I like what I came up with but those of you who have done this a while could have some suggestions to fine tune it. There are two patches both based on Soldano. The only difference is one is stereo and the other is mono. The patches are for the PODHD Desktop but I think you can just rename it and it should work with the HD500. FRFRSoldano.zip

I use the Stereo delay at 290 and 310ms left and right. But I also have 2 amps and cabs that I play through. I use just enough of it to add some thickness.

Don't change what you've been doing. Start there and experiment, tweak, test, and ask questions.

Although the PODHD will sound better, it will be frustrating at first. Be patient and ask questions. There's a lot of good people here to help you. Make sure your PODHD has the latest firmware and start with the Studio Direct output setting. And yes we all hate the EQs in percentage instead of HZ. Go here for EQ and other explanations: http://foobazaar.com/podhd

I bought a Gibson pickup and put it in my guitar. That costs a lot less than buying another guitar, especially a Les Paul.
-
I typically play with my PODHD into the FX return of a JCM900 and 4x12 cab - actually 2 of them cause I do stereo. I tried just running my same preset into an FRFR system and it needed serious tweaking to get it sounding even close to the same. Like pianoguyy said, plug a CD player into an FRFR system then your guitar amp and cab. It'll need some serious tweaking to get it sounding the same - or even close. Glad to hear from someone else in a tribute band. I'm in a Black Sabbath tribute band.
-
And try the Full Amp Models first.
-
The question I should have asked at the beginning: Fobsternd - what are you connecting your PODHD into ? Guitar amp ? P.A. Speaker ? Computer speaker ? Headphones ?
-
Very simplistic explanation of a PreAmp: Two parts to a guitar amp are a PreAmp and PowerAmp. A PreAmp is an amplifier that's designed to take a very low signal level such as a guitar and boosts up the voltage for what a PowerAmp expects. A PowerAmp is a normal amplifier but it can't deal with the very low signal that comes out of your guitar. Both of these Amps can color your sound. A PreAmp usually colors it more than the PowerAmp which (I'm guessing) is why Line6 allowed us to have the option to use it separately. But like pianoguyy said "Use your ears". Whatever sounds best is right. Doesn't matter if Line6 called it a Widget or Widget-Pre.
-
Simple explanation: Pre - this models only the PreAmp portion of the amplifier. Otherwise the entire amplifier is modeled, both Pre and Power amp portions. Typically the Pre versions are slightly brighter or have more distortion when the gain is turned up.

Sweetwater is selling POD HD Beans for $179 right now
joel_brown replied to smrybacki's topic in POD HD
My guess is no. The Bean just didn't sell very well and they stopped making them quite a while back. That's why I scooped up a spare last year when I heard they didn't make them anymore. -

Damn, I bought a spare PODHD Bean last year for $280 and thought that was a good deal. Maybe I'll buy a bunch of them and stack them together. Instead of a wall of amps, I'll have a wall of PODHD Beans. -
I'm not holding my breath either but I do buy a lottery ticket every now and then. About the same odds...

Shout out to Line6 in case they're listening, any chance you could release the source code to the PODHD Editor and let the community update it ?
-
Gott'a agree with pianoguy on this one. Atomant669 is a dumbass.
-
Or you can restore an entire Bundle of patches all at once.
-
It'd be nice if they could Open source the editor so the public could modify it. Wouldn't cost Line6 any money or time. Not sure if that would give away any secrets about the product but my guess is it wouldn't. Just changing parameters, not algorithms.
