  1. I'm just surprised that the person who posted this has never walked over to the ProSound department of their local music store and looked at P.A. amps. Although I agree about having a separate amp for each guitarist, but they might be brothers or something. Or maybe just trying to keep things light and portable. Either way, let them learn the hard way like the rest of us did.
  2. This was a great comparison. Yeah the Helix sounds a little better but the PODHD sounds really good too. The Helix has to be easier to create tones cause the PODHD couldn't make it much harder - lol.
  3. Holy crap, what a difference. I'm not going to run out and buy a Helix.
  4. I think this whole thread is because we're out of things to talk about.
  5. Hey even us Metal guys didn't like the factory presets either. It's not intuitive, some of the settings are strange, some weird quirks and defaults, but even with all these problems it's well worth it.
  6. I got a hard whiz just reading this... Really though, what is a "hard whiz" ?
  7. What price drop ? I sure haven't seen one. I also haven't seen anything better in the $500 price range either. As far as Helix, yeah it's better but I'm not dumping what I have and buying one.
  8. The two are so close to being identical that it's not worth upgrading to the 500X if you have a 500.
  9. It's going to be difficult to use one amp as a combo and the other using FX returns. You're best bet is to use them both the same way or use just one.
  10. I run this type of setup also. I hard pan the mixer L and R. I also put a digital delay on one path before the mixer and set it to a 20 ms delay and mix set at full. Here's my patch (it's for a PODHD Desktop). http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/BlackSabbath.hbe
  11. Has anyone tried running Line6 Edit on the Microsoft Surface tablet ?
  12. In my high gain tone I use a compressor both before and after the Amp/cab but they are both set to very little compression. I prefer this to the single compressor before the Amp using more compression. The compressor after the Amp seems to reduce the volume of chords while not compressing or reducing the volume of single notes as much. This helps my single note riffs come through the mix better. Definitely takes a little tweaking to achieve the right balance.
  13. Rule#2: It's easier to get forgiveness than permission ????????????? I was going to ask "How long have you been married ?", but a better question would be, "How many times have you been married ?".
  14. Things that helped me: 1) Changing the Input Impedance. 2) Input 1 and Input 2 different. 3) Res, Low Cut, and Thump helped a lot. 4) Digital Delay on one side of Amp output set at 20ms and 100% mix gives a cool stereo sound live - if you have a rig (or P.A.) that does stereo. 5) Turn the Drive down. 6) Turn E.R. Off or adjust to taste. 7) EQ the crap out of it. Adjust like crazy with tone knobs, Low Cut, Impedance, then add EQs in the FX chain and tweak yourself crazy. As a last resort use the Global EQ. And make sure to do all this at the volume your normally play at with the amp/speaker that you normally use. Then when you think you have it right, save it, turn everything off, and come back in a few days. Ear fatigue is real.

    FRFR volume

I also play with race cars on oval tracks and it's kind of a similar thing that happens there too. Someone will cause a wreck and sometimes I'll ask why didn't you just slow down or hit the brakes. Evidently some people think volume knobs and gas pedals only work in one direction. To me the worse offense is the (lead) bass player that has to drown out the band. More than likely he's sick of the guitar player who's been doing it for years and has finally had enough. But as someone in the crowd listening I'd rather hear the guitar being too loud than nothing but bass. But in either case the vocals are usually drowned out and that's usually the most important thing to the audience.

    FRFR volume

I don't turn up much but it always seems like it needs a notch or two.

    FRFR volume

I play in both a Sabbath Tribute and Classic rock band, I'm always saying "Turn down, it'll sound better". The only time I actually need more volume is outside gigs, which I don't do very many of those.
  19. HE MUST HAVE FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM. or his password on his computer is lowercase and he can't log back in. EITHER WAY WE CAN HAVE SOME FUN.
  20. youforgottouploadthepicturessowecan'tseewhattheproblemis. Turn off the caps lock and I'll respond with spaces in my sentences.
  21. Speaking of phones: I had a flip phone for 7 years. When I got a new phone they laughed at my old flip phone. I told them this phone cost me $7,000 dollars. Every customer in the store turned around to see what a $7,000 dollar phone looked like. The person at the store didn't understand what I was saying. I said $80 a month X 12 months X 7 years plus tax. Recurring monthly charges is the best scheme for taking people's money...
  22. I used to use the Treadplate a lot in the POD v2. The closest I found in the PODHD was the Angel (ENGL) if that helps.
  23. btw - I also had a POD V2. Had some tones I really liked a lot. At first I struggled just to make the PODHD sounds as good. Now I go back and listen to the POD V2 and can't believe how much better the PODHD is. But that took me months on my own. Once I got onto this forum with all the great advice, I can dial in tones in minutes.
