  1. How to get a good live POD HD500 tone ? Keep tweaking. If it doesn't sound good yet then you need to make some adjustments. The unit is more than capable but it's not simple or fast to build a tone, atleast at first.
  2. I tried the towel trick after seeing the video. I was surprised how well it worked.
  3. I lived in the same area as Danny and was lucky enough to see him perform. Truly amazing...
  4. I always blame it on bad electricity... Especially when I hit a wrong note.
  5. Yes the PODHD Bean is the same size. All the beans are the same size.
  6. Interesting. Other people's guitars through your stuff sounds good and your guitar through a real amp is not great but good enough, according to you. Maybe it's your guitar ? Even if your have the same pickups as someone else, the capacitors could be wrong or the wiring could be screwed up.
  7. Using a compressor will create sustain/feedback at a lower volume by boosting the signal of the note as it tries to die off. This is an Old School trick I've done for years. When I had to play lower volumes but still needed the sustain/feedback for Santana tunes, I'd crank up the compression. You still need some volume, just less. Yes I'm that old... I used to play Santana tunes when they were still kind'a new.
  8. Replica's - that's great. I've been told to go "Multiply Myself" more than once.
  9. PODHD = $500 price point Helix = $1500 price point Until something newer in the $500 price point is available, the PODHD will not go away. This is just common sense.
  10. I sometimes hear voices in my head too.
  11. Can't agree more about that. Using pitch correction in place of talent is a tragedy. I personally don't like the idea of pitch correction at all but with so many people using it you almost have to consider it. I think it was pianoguyy that said Steve Vai even went through one of his albums and tweaked all his guitar notes to be perfect.
  12. I'm hearing pitch correction in a number of country songs too. Just not the hard pitch correction used in Pop. I will say this device my singer bought when used in default mode, it's hard to tell it's pitch correcting the voice. But it sure does make him sound like a pro. Hmmmm, maybe more people than we think are using this.
  13. Our singer bought a TC-Helicon VoiceCorrect XT device which has pitch correction for vocals, among other things. It works really nice and I was very impressed with it. I was wondering what it would be like to use it on guitar for both rhythm and leads in a live situation. Has anyone tried this ? I know it's cheating and I'm old school, to a point. But it sure gave a nice polish to the vocals. It won't make a bad singer good but it makes a good singer sound really good.
  14. Risk/Reward. The VW CEO got a lot of money and split. I gott'a feeling they're going to find and fry him. Hmmmm, I guess you're right. No one ever thinks they're gonn'a get caught.
  15. I can't believe VW was able to sell 11,000,000 cars before someone caught them. And how long did they think they could get away with it ? But then again Diet Coke when stored above 86F degrees turns into formaldehyde - poison. Is this thread digressing ?
  16. You can buy aftermarket tuners that turn off the emissions crap that is a nightmare on diesel engines. VW just included it for free...lol.
  17. Short answer - it doesn't matter. I haven't heard anyone complaining that they keep blowing up their PODHD because they left it on or kept turning it on and off.
  18. How you use the GEQ is up to each person. As long as you know that it effects all your presets, hence the name Global EQ. Personally I use a guitar amp and cab. All my presets have a certain low freq muddiness that the GEQ fixes. Also a small tweak on certain upper frequencies helps all my presets too. I could apply an EQ in each preset but the GEQ fixes all of them at once. But I don't use that many different presets either.
  19. Did you buy this new ? It sounds like you bought it used from someone who had the extra model packs installed.
  20. The PODHD will be a steep learning curve but will sound better. Be patient and ask questions. There's plenty of knowledgeable people on here that will help.
  21. Wow, tough crowd. You must really hate Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and RAP (people talking in rhymes and making scratching noises on a fake turntable). Not that I like it either but if you're busting on Steve Vai for touching things up, well atleast he's a great musician - not many people got to play with Zappa. Man, and I thought I was the grumpy old guy...lol.
