[HD500] the guitar input source signal is going weak and sound terrible
joel_brown replied to ryan_420's topic in POD HD
Try a different guitar. Try another guitar cable too. Eliminate all possible problems so you can confirm it's a PODHD Input problem. -
I do both. I have: guitar - compressor - AmpModel - compressor - delay - reverb Typically the compressor is used first in the chain. I found that using another one after the AmpModel actually has a more dramatic effect but it has to be set to a lot less compression than the first one in the chain. What the second compressor does for me is more similar to an Auto-Gain. When I'm chording it reduces the volumes but when playing solos it increases the volume. It takes a while to get the settings just right.

Great stuff. Listened to a few other tracks too. Kind'a like Vai and Zappa stuff. Love the time signatures.

Assuming the New Unit is the Helix it's $1500 instead of $500. There's a bunch of used PODHDs on eBay for $200 to $300 and new for $500. At this point I'd consider used or what they call New B Stock for a reduced price.

PODHD is a nice step up from the X3Live. But it takes a while to learn how to use it. There's a couple quirks with it that you need to be aware of. For example, Input settings are very important.
-
For me the tone was the same. Just as it's always been in every firmware update. The Global EQ is awesome.
-
I see the Helix putting a serious dent into AXE and Kemper sales. If they put out something similar to the Bean for under a grand I'll consider one. $1500 is a little too much for me since the current PODHD works just fine.

You would be surprised at how many people are paid a lot of money to develop high quality software. Nothing beats professionally engineered and developed software. And that costs money...

A lot of us L6 customers use this gear on the weekends for business ???? If your business is that critical then have a backup plan. I carry a spare PODHD and always have 2 amps and 3 guitars at every gig. I'm not going to expect Line6 to spend the extra money to stay open on weekends and be able to fix my stuff with a phone call.
-
Just wanted to say that Line6 did refund my money after I sent the email to their storesupport. It took almost 2 weeks after I sent the email for the refund to show up.
-
Post a recording comparing the JC120 vs Blackface Double. Don't give excuses why you won't. Show us that you can make them the same and I'll be the first to apologize and say "You were right".
-
Post a sound clip showing us how they sound the same.
-
How Line6 developed the new amp models is irrelevant. If you like them great, otherwise return them for a refund. You will NEVER know the answer you're looking for cause Line6 isn't going to show you the source code - EVER. Another way of looking at this is: you're the only person asking this question. Most people liked the new amp models and a few people didn't see the need and returned them. You are not being cheated....... You may be a little paranoid, but not cheated. So here's my smart lollipop response: (couldn't resist, sorry) I tried the new amp models and it still sounded like me playing the guitar. All the other amp models sounded like me playing the guitar too.

We never landed on the moon. Elvis is still alive. Aliens are among us (Men In Black is a documentary). Any other notable conspiracies ? But to answer the OP question. You can't be cheated with a money back guarantee.

Sounds like a Compressor after the reverb. That's an old trick we used to do for drums to make the kick and snare sound like explosions. Works on guitars too.
-
No vocals yet. The mp3 I did is a quick rough mix so everyone can learn the song and the singer can develop the vocals. I play all the parts then hand it out to everyone so they can learn them and add their own influences. There's is no EQ on the guitar except for a small amount of low end roll off due to mic boominess.
-
http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/SatanIsA.mp3 This is still a rough mix of an original our band is putting together. Old School style recording methods. PODHD into fx return of Marshall amp and cab return into SM57 mic into an analogue board into a DAW.
-
PODHD presets suck. The PODHD also takes a fair amount of time and effort to learn how it works then to tweak it for the tone you want. I spent weeks and weeks getting it to sound right for me. In the end it's worth it and there's a lot of us in this forum that will help you get there.

That address leads to the department that refunds credit cards. The refund will not process unless all devices have been deauthorized.C. Once they have confirmed your request is being processed, re-authorize your devices using the License Manager utility program to use any remaining licenses and/or model packs.Once initiated, the refund should settle within 5 business days. wvolkmann May 28, 12:08 PM Ticket Status = waiting on customer joel_brown May 24, 14:50 PM MetalPackReturnError.JPG This was the response I got on my support ticket for this 8220 error when trying to return the MetalPack. I sent an email today and will post when I receive my refund, So much for the website working correctly.

I feel like I was suckered. Line6 makes sure they can take your money but when it comes to refunds their computer system conveniently doesn't work that way.

JTSC777, I would like to say that I've helped people get started in music and given lessons. The first thing I do is to get them playing something they've heard and mimic other songs. This gets them interested so they can put in the years it takes to become an accomplished musician. I don't think you really do this, but it sounds like from your posts that you immediately push beginners into improv techniques and other advanced methods right away and discourage them from just being a cover-type guitarist. Showing a beginner how to do a bar chord and figure out a few simple songs can be the first step into making that person a great guitarist. As far as anyone with a doctorate saying anything lese, I don't care. I've worked with a lot of people with PHDs that didn't have a clue.
-
I'm doing the same thing as you and getting the same error. I also opened a support ticket. It means their system is not working and we're screwed out of getting the discount.
-
I bought the Metal Pack for the PODHD. Tried it out for several days. Now I'm returning it. It was good but didn't give me anything that I needed, over what I have now. I typically use the Angel (ENGL) Pre Amp for damn near everything, except for a few clean tones. Now the Global EQ is freaking awesome....

Sometimes using a Digital Delay between the L and R channels set to 20ms can give it a larger sound. Example: www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/BlackSabbath.hbe The above example is only to demonstrate the delay between L and R channels. Otherwise it is a hi-gain patch designed for use into the FX return of a pair of tube amps.
