  1. I do actually know. There is no MIDI on the Bean. Who gives a lollipop if It shows up as MIDI device in Windows. That doesn't do lollipop for you because it doesn't work. What the lollipop am I missing here ?
  2. Bass takes power. Typically 2 to 3 times more than what the guitar needs - just to keep up. If the FOH speakers are receiving at least 500 watts minimum and have at least a 12 inch speaker or larger, you should be in good shape. 1000 watts and up and you should be fine for medium to large venues. Most decent FOH systems will be fine. A tip if they don't handle it is roll off your very low frequencies like 60hz or even 80hz if the speakers are struggling. You may lose some tone but it'll help reduce breakup and damage. It's better to thin the sound a little than listen to a speaker farting all night - if it lasts that long. Subwoofers only produce 80hz and below and usually have 2 to 4 times more power than mids. That's how much power it takes for very low frequencies. In the end - it's better to play at a lower volume with good sound than loud, muddy, and distorted.
  3. What's your amp/speakers and what's your guitar/pickups ? What the setting on the PODHD ? Is it Studio Direct ?
  4. We know the Line6 engineers didn't look at the parameters when they did Percentage for adjusting EQ. That's like adjusting the tire pressure on your car with a timing light. Sorry but I always have to get a dig in about this. It's too easy...
  5. Sub Par ? Then buy a Helix, Kemper, or AXEFX. Oh that's right they cost a lollipop ton more. Does that excuse Line6 for not fixing some trivial things ? Yeah it does... I'm friggin' happy that I can have something that sounds as good and works as well as the PODHD in it's $500 USD price range. Show me ANYTHING else in that price range that is better. I've put up with a lot more stupid lollipop with other products over the 40+ years I've been playing and they didn't sound as good. Is the PODHD perfect ? No. But it's more than good enough.
  6. I always blame it on bad electricity.
  7. I was surprised too when I found out (after I bought it) that it didn't have midi. I have a midi pedal board I'd used for years. Had to buy the FBV. I guess I should have just got the HD500. Ended up spending the same money. Maybe that's why they stopped making the bean.
  8. I have one and no it doesn't show up as a MIDI device.
  9. I didn't say it could never happen, I just said I never heard of a way around it. If someone finds a way I'd like to know too.
  10. No MIDI on the bean. Never heard of a way to get around this.
  11. Let's keep this simple: When you play a CD or MP3 through your 4x12 cab does it sound the same as when you play it through your Surround Sound Stereo ? I'm pretty confident the answer is "No". The PODHD (or ANY modeler) must be EQ'd and tweaked to sound correct based on the type of amp and speaker it's being played through. I use my PODHD through a tube power amp and 4x12 cab. Sounds great but I can't use the same patch on a powered FRFR (Full Range Flat Response) speaker cab (example: almost any Class D P.A. speaker).
  12. Experimentation is fine until you burn up a $500 PODHD and who knows what he paid for his EQ. You want to experiment - be my guest. Education is expensive. This thread reminds of the story about the difference between a mother and a father. -------------- Mother sees her child about to put his finger in a light socket and runs over and grabs him and tells him gently that he shouldn't do that. Father sees his child about to put a finger in a light socket and says "Hehe, watch this..." --------------
  13. I recommend switching to an acoustic guitar until you understand amps and cabs.
  14. And the PODHD isn't one of them............... I'll be surprised if it's not burned up.
  15. I know when I Master Debate something I have the best equipment in my hands too... Sheeeesh, does this guy say it out loud before he types ??? lol
  16. This is a simple debate. PODHD 500 for $500 bucks and it sounds great. Helix, Kemper, AXE cost $1500 to $3200 and sound better but PODHD is more than good enough. Duh. But I guess we are all Master Debaters. I know I Master Debate everyday...
  17. I use the PODHD into my JCM900 Marshall. I set the PODHD set on Studio Out and plug that into the FX return of the Marshall. I also use just the Pre versions of the amp modeling since I have a tube power amp. The PODHD can be used in a LOT of different configurations. However, I can't just use my presets that are configured for my tube amp and expect them to sound the same when running direct into a P.A. system. It takes time to tweak them for different combinations. The great thing is - Yes the PODHD can do all these things and sound really good. The bad thing is - It takes some serious time, effort, and understanding to be able to do all these things. The great thing is - There's a lot of people on this forum that will help you.
  18. Did it have version 2.20 or higher installed ?
  19. For example, I use the PODHD Pre version of the ENGL amp into the FX return of my JCM900 Marshall amp/cab. But there are no rules about how to use anything. If it sounds good - do it.
  20. Nooooo, there's nothing worse than being in the middle of a song and that wave of methane hits your nose. That's when I make a face, notice the singer laughing, and the drummer about ready to pass out.
  21. Lighter colored picks give a brighter sound. Black picks are best for dark hi gain tones.
  22. Being in a Black Sabbath Tribute band I have to be the only guitarist. I use two amps/speaker cabs and/or two signals panned hard left and right to the P.A. system. I create a patch that has a Stereo Delay between the left and right channels in the PODHD and set a 20ms delay mixed Full on one of them. Then I pan the PODHD hard left and right for the output. Another trick I learned is to put a small amount of compression after the amp block in the PODHD. Set it to where it slightly reduces the volume when playing rhythm but single notes sound slightly louder. Don't let the bass player try to increase their volume during your solos - that just makes it worse. The link below is to a live recording where we had everything mic'd up. The guitar is not double track recorded. Example: http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/WarPigs.wma
  23. The type of guitar strap can make a difference in tone too. Also strap locks can give it a brighter tone unless you're using a leather strap. <anyone gonn'a believe this?>
  24. They're the same people who made the Decimator Noise Reduction pedal. The Theta Pro took me by surprise when I heard about it too. My first reaction was the same "Who ???", "What ???", and "They want how much ???".
