Is Line 6 going to create new amp and effects model's
joel_brown replied to Megadeth1313's topic in POD HD
Hey MegaBreath, cruisinon's post is the best answer you will get here. You want something more up to date get the Helix LT. We've seen lots of people ask the same question you did over the years and NEVER got an answer. Don't expect one now either. -
Pod creating awful feedback with nothing plugged in without gate
joel_brown replied to edfletch21's topic in POD HD
Is this happening in ALL of your tones ? If it is then I had this happen to me. I had to take it to an authorized repair center and they fixed it in a day for $60 bucks. I think it had fried a capacitor or something. -
It's not so much jumping on stage and bashing gear around. It's more of the drunks that come up during break or after the gig and want to (try) and talk to you and end up spilling their beer or stepping all over your equipment. I don't think I'm wrong but probably most of us don't have the luxury of of being way above playing at the local bar or Moose Lodge.

Then great, I didn't see on the video where it would convert to Laney's 5 pin connection.

It's not going to work. See my previous post. The Laney doesn't use 1/4 in jacks, it has it's own special proprietary jack.

Anyone port Helix Native presets to HD? Can you please?
joel_brown replied to bjnette's topic in POD HD
Don't forget about the Helix LT. -
Most people don't have backups of everything. But anything can go bad. Take backups of what you can afford.
-
I always bring backups of everything. I've had amps, pedals, PODs, other modelers, everything fail at some point over the 40+ years I've been performing. In this case it sounds like a power supply.
-
Get the Helix LT. It's a little more money than the PODHD but sounds better and a lot easier to deal with.
-
You can use my code its: ID10T
-
Still won't work. The Laney uses their own special jack for switching channels. See the diagram in the very first post. There is no MIDI support for the Laney and it doesn't use a 1/4 jack either.

The Laney uses a proprietary 5 pin connection for their footswitch. This isn't MIDI, just looks like it. I don't know of ANY way to do what you want.

Take a look at these and see it helps get you started for Hi Gain stuff. http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/BlackSabbath.hbe http://www.ChildrenOfTheGraveBand.com/HiGainStereoPreAmp.hbe You will have to rename the files to .hb5 for your HD500.

I have a JCM900 and use the PODHD. Yes you can do this and only use the PODHD FX. Although you've just spent a lot of money for basically a distortion pedal. Reverb and Delay will sound like crap this way. The best way I've found for using my PODHD and JCM900 is to use the Pre Models and turn OFF the cab models and use the Studio Output mode of the PODHD into the FX return of the JCM900. Then it doesn't take much time to get things sounding good. Works just like a regular PreAmp and stomp boxes. The biggest problem with the JCM900 is it's PreAmp. It doesn't have enough gain and uses clipping diodes. Don't even try to mod it, it doesn't make much difference - I've done it. Here's a link to a high gain tone the way I suggest you try it. http://www.childrenofthegraveband.com/HiGainStereoPreAmp.hbe If you have a PODHD500 just rename the file to *.hb5 I believe. I use the PODHD Desktop.

Playing guitar and creating patches... a better process?
joel_brown replied to cboshdave's topic in POD HD
Just because we used to play, tweak, play, tweak before doesn't mean we have to continue to do it like that. Use the looper in the pre position. I've done that a few times too. After a while the tweaking doesn't take so much time and you can just play, tweak and be done. -
Is it possible to use the cab sims WITHOUT amp models?
joel_brown replied to Gomnana's topic in POD HD
I would suggest the Blackface Dbl Nrm Pre for you to try. Although, IMO, the cab models are the weakest thing in the PODHD. Again IMO, the Pre models in the PODHD are really nice. But whatever works for you is all that counts. -
You have to manually turn off the cab - even when using the Pre Amp only models. Then the mic settings doesn't do anything. Otherwise it will use a cab Impulse Response (IR) and that will change you're tone quite a bit.

Sounds like a DAW monitoring issue or it's going to a channel you don't know about that's being monitored. I would try disconnecting some of your connections and see if that helps narrow down the problem.

It drives me nuts when other guitar players have an amp at their feet and can't hear it then turn it way up till it drowns out everything else. Then look perplexed when you tell them they're too loud.
-
Find a new bass player.
-
Translated: The looper of my POD HD 500 has failed. Even via software sometimes does not trigger, it is inaccessible. Can someone help me? Can anyone tell me what causes this malfunction?
-
My suggestion is find an authorized Line6 Repair center and take it to them. Or buy another one used on eBay. I've seen some good deals on people dumping the HD500 going to the 500x or Helix. Pedals can get expensive quick.
-
eBay will have them for years. I even have a B Stock unused, unregistered PODHD Desktop as a spare.

Nothing much, I just turned down the gain. Tweak the Bass, Mid, Treble, and Presence to taste. It seems to clean up nicely. Clean tones can be tricky depending on what you're going for.

Does the Tube amp and the PODHD sound very close to each other ?
