  1. Hey SamIAm, more than one post said you can't do this with the PODHD. Hopefully the mid-west EMO's will stay out there in the cornfields. Sorry but I just can't appreciate it and that's rare for me.
  2. You want to use his Marshall head as a pre-amp ? Which Marshall ? Has the Marshall been modded ? Are your tones built to use your EVH head as a pre-amp ?
  3. Yes you can do this. But ANY PODHD will take a while to build a tone that sounds good. Don't expect to turn it on, grab a preset, and go. If you only get a few days to work with it you probably won't have enough time to learn it and build the tone you want.
  4. The PODHD500 is not a plug in, turn on, and it sounds great type of unit. The presets suck and you have to learn how to configure the tones you want. This will take time and it will sound really good once you figure it out. Just be patient and ask questions.
  5. PODHD is a little more flexible with routing, FX placement, and a few other little niceties. But the Firehawk will typically do everything you need and be easier to work with.
  6. Here's a link that has the info we keep repeating on here that will help you out. Click Here
  7. Yes it would be redumdant to do that. At the very least, get the PODHD first and if for some reason you still feel the need for more pedals you can connect them into the PODHD.
  8. You can't sync the loops in the PODHD with another device. I try to be open to new ideas in music but gott'a agree with cruisinon2 on this. I was kicking back sipping on a diet coke waiting for tiny dancer to trip over his feet. When the vocals kicked in I about spewed diet coke all over my monitor.
  9. Hey for $20 bucks and anyone still not completely happy with their aging PODHD, it's worth giving it a shot. And if this isn't the first time something like this has helped then Line6 should have taken notice years ago.
  10. Just for the heck of it. I bought the Behringer TO800 Overdrive pedal for $20. It's a Tube Screamer knockoff. It actually sounds nice and it's priced the way a pedal should be since there's only about $1's worth of parts in it. I plugged it into my PODHD with the Overdrive knob at 12, Tone knob at 7, and Level at 11. It got rid of some of the low end bass and high end fizz that I don't like and gave it a slighter fatter more analogue tone. It really helped the sound and much better than the built in overdrive effects. I was very surprised.
  11. Have you tried it on a different PC ? Does you PODHD work at all ? I know your frustrated but computers will be frustrating - ALL OF THEM, and everything today is a computer.
  12. You're experience is needed here. Don't let a couple minor nuisances run you off.
  13. Looks like Line6 has updated the forums. Maybe the 502 error is gone for good.
  14. I've been getting the 502 error and can't get into the forum. I'm back in for now but it seems to only last for a few days then the 502 error comes back. This last time I cleared the cache, which didn't work, so I cleared two times in a row then it worked. I opened a support ticket with Line6. They said they were going to update the forums and were aware of the problem.
  15. Got in then got the 502 error again. Cleared the cache and it didn't work. I use Chrome and this time I turned off both page prediction options and got back in. We'll see how long this works.
  16. I haven't been able to get to this forum in almost a week. Same 502 error. I can get to other forums but was even getting the 502 error on them for several days.. I cleared the cache and used both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome - neither worked. The ONLY way I'm posting in here is it let me respond to a post someone else made to my earlier response.
  17. Clear your browser cache and you should be able to get on the forums again. It's happened to me twice now.
  18. I know in computer networking you can't do that. Each port has to have a switch which is why you see 4 port hub/switches and not y splitters for connecting computers. The PODHD is basically a computer so in theory this shouldn't work, at least not reliably. Now the question is will a 4 port hub/switch work. I don't know and in the years I've been hanging out on this forum this is the first time I've ever seen anyone ask this question. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful and I'm curious to see if anyone really knows the answer to this.
  19. Yep I cleared out my browser cache and it's working fine now. Sorry Line6, my bad - I think. Although no other site I visited had a problem.
  20. I know this is the wrong forum but the right forum is dead. The PODHD forum has been down for two days. I assume someone at Line6 knows ? How long does it take to bring a forum back up ?
  21. Quote: "Still self-debating which model it will be, but now I'm biased to the LT, as it seems the most direct replacement to the basic HD500 functionallity". Too much self-debating will make you go blind. I try to not self-debate more than once a day, usually in the shower.
  22. Nope the Helix isn't a different animal just a nicer newer version of the PODHD that's easier to dial in tones and sounds better. And btw - the PODHD will NOT import from your PODXT. Even the amps and cabs will sometimes not act the same way. You will be starting virtually from scratch and dealing with the PODHD quirks such as changing Input 1 and Input 2 to different input types so it doesn't over drive your input signal, which is the default. But the PODHD is half the price and is a good sounding unit. But I've lost count of the people who posted on this board so frustrated at dialing in tones that they wish they never bought it. Then they work through the quirks and get what they want. Some people take to it quickly, others take months to get it sounding right. Personally if it was me I'd get the Helix LT after looking at it very closely and trying it out at the local music store (if that's an option).
  23. PODHD is 8 years old but so is Windows 7 and a LOT of people still use that and say it's better. Take a look at the Helix LT for $1000 then look at the PODHD for $500. Yeah the Helix is better and a LOT easier to get tones out of. The PODHD will make great tones but the default presets suck and you'll fight it for a while until you learn it's quirks - then you'll get great tone. Ask yourself what you can afford and how much time you spend using it. $1000 seems like a lot but how much did you spend on your guitar ?
  24. Back in Windows NT vs. OS/2 wars. Microsoft decided to write the drivers themselves for printers, video cards, and other popular devices because very few companies would do it themselves. They didn't know which OS was going to win and it's VERY expensive and VERY difficult to write drivers. Even after Windows won the OS war they still spent a lot of time writing drivers and helping 3rd party companies write drivers. Drivers are lollipoping hard to write. Now we're talking about an even smaller market with an OS that's far from mainstream on the PC - it ain't gonn'a happen.
