  1. I've tried all the combinations. Yes they all can sound good. I use high gain and play classic metal. The tube power amp and the guitar cab sounds the best. For lower gain tones or clean tones it doesn't make as much of a difference to my ears. The great thing about the PODHD is it can be used in a lot of different ways and eventually you find the way that sounds good for your situation.
  2. I do the same thing. PODHD into FX return of a Marshall JCM900 into a 1936 2x12 cab using pre versions of the models and cabs turned off. Sounds just as good or better than any straight up tube amp.
  3. I think he needs his knob polished.
  4. It can also mean the power supply is dying. If you have a volt meter, check the power supply for the correct voltage - which it states on the power supply what it's supposed to be. I had this happen to me.
  5. Don't do #4 and #5. Bottom line is build your tones with whatever you're going to use on stage or where ever you play. If you're gonn'a play through an amp and speakers build your tones for that. If you're gonn'a plug into a sound system and use a monitor, build you tones for that. You can't build a universal tone that will work with everything. I guess you could if you don't mind your tone not sounding that good. If you play an MP3 through a sound system it sounds great. Play the same MP3 through a guitar amp and cab and it sounds like crap. Can't expect your PODHD to sound the same through both without some changes.
  6. Been gigging with mine for about 7 years. Still works great and still use it.
  7. That's why there's a warranty. If you think ALL other products of any kind that have ever been sold have NEVER had any problems then you're an idiot. I've used Line6 products for over a decade and have never had an issue. That doesn't mean every one of them will be perfect but most of them will.
  8. Just because something is old doesn't make it bad. For example the Tube Screamer is still one of the most popular overdrive pedals and it's been out for decades. The PODHD is still and will always be a very good product. It just won't be updated anymore. With that said, I would personally be looking at the Helix LT. I know it's twice the price but it sounds better and is much easier to use. If that's just plain out of your budget then the PODHD is still a very good product.
  9. I use a PODHD into a Marshall and cab and only use the pre version of the PODHD amps and no cab simulation. I also plug the PODHD into the effects return of the Marshall. But the nice thing about the PODHD is that you can configure it to use about any kind of amp and cab. That's why the presets typically don't sound very good because the amp and cab you use can change the tone dramatically.
  10. HELLO I HAVE TRIED IT OF ALL THE FORMS BUT I CAN NOT DOWNLOAD THE MANUFACTURER'S PAGE SOFTWARE HELP PLEASE
  11. Update the BIOS on the PC. Make sure you're not running ASIO4ALL.sys Looks like you've done everything else.
  12. Get the HX Stomp. Get the new better sounding stuff, not the decade old dated stuff. If you can't afford the extra couple hundred bucks then wait and save up for it. Cheaper is not always better. You get what you pay for.
  13. I thought this was interesting. I usually use my PODHD into a pair of JCM900 heads which each feed a Marshall 1936 2x12 cab. I run a stereo hi gain patch into the FX return of each amp. I recently picked up a used Peavey 6505+ 1x12 combo then put a Vintage 30 speaker in it. I only have a total of $400 bucks in it. This combo is really nice for hi gain tones and it's really loud for a small amp. I wheel this thing in on a hand-truck and can setup in 2 minutes. I compared both rigs the other day. It's hard to tell them apart, other than I think the PODHD has a more analog warmth to the tone. That surprised the living lollipop out of me. I'll post a video of it soon and let you decide. I did this a while back with a Laney GH50L versus my rig and it was hard to tell them apart
  14. Don't expect this to be a quick process. Once you find the connection/configuration/setup for your PODHD that works the best it will still take some time to get all the patches tweaked to your liking. In the end it will work great. Just don't get frustrated if it seems like it's taking too long and getting nowhere. We've all been there. Think of it like this. If someone dumped 100 pedals and 30 amps/cabs at your feet with a handful guitars and said "Hey quickly get all this sounding great". It would take a while.
  15. Create a patch with no effects and amps in it and call it Dry.

    Hello

The input into your amp is what I talking about. You have inputs in the front which uses the pre-amp of your amplifier. Some amps have effects return inputs on the back which bypass the pre-amp and only use the power amp. You can use the PODHD as a pre-amp into the effects return of a guitar amplifier. That's how I do it but that's just one of many ways to use the PODHD.

    Hello

Depending on what you use to play your PODHD through, the Custom Tones may not work very well. The PODHD can be plugged into a guitar amp in the front jacks, FX Return jacks, 4cm method, P.A. monitors, computers, all sorts of different devices. Don't expect the Custom Tones to sound great unless you use the exact same type of amp configuration. Tweaking will be needed.
  18. He didn't say anything about needing Midi. Why have something more complicated and difficult to work with if you don't need it. How many people have come here and struggled to get tones out of the PODHD ? Yes the PODHD is better and more flexible but it's also more difficult to work with.
  19. Buy the firehawk. It's easy to work with.
  20. Deserve ??? They don't deserve anything other than what they bought. After I bought my car they didn't upgrade the brakes or engine 8 years later.

    Marty

You're trying to connect a digital amp modeler to a Marshall pre-amp ? Are you looking to use the HD500 as an effects unit ? Otherwise it's kind'a like having an amp and connecting another pre-amp to it. It's kind'a redumbdant.
  22. This is a very old thread. Other than reset your PODHD to Factory Defaults and make sure Firmware is up to date, you need to open a support ticket. I know it's frustrating when equipment doesn't work right. But everything breaks. I always have enough backup equipment to get me through a gig regardless of the failure but that's expensive. Any touring act has or should have some level of backup equipment. I've used my PODHD without problems for 6+ years now. One time it got zapped by a bad AC Outlet and still made it through the night - just hummed. Got it fixed a week later for $50 bucks and it was good to go again.
