  1. have you tried the smart harmony? unless i'm understanding you wrong... sounds like what you're looking for.
  2. I imagine there's alot that you could fix on the board.... although some things like the processor itself would require a machine to replace. but your common resisters, capacitors, and diodes etc... should be doable. there are lots of 3rd party vendors who do this exact thing with motherboards out of apple laptops... which of course have the processor machined onto the board.. as well as other proprietary chips...
  3. its not possible (the same internal hardware clock needs to control all inputs and outputs to properly work with the audio stream for latency and other corrections) as long as the x3 is plugged in you will be able to use pod farm though.
  4. they never announced the 500x until it went on sale either... i think they basically don't want to make it hard for their dealers to sell their existing pro units..
  5. No... and if we've learned anything from the pre-release chatter of the 500x don't believe anything until you see it or hear it from line6 directly. its a reasonable assumption that it will get the same processor upgrade as the 500x... and obviously the footswitch upgrade doesn't apply... i wouldn't expect much beyond that.
  6. yeah if you don't count potential lawsuits from idiots with soldering guns that decide it looks easy enough... but whatever... i think that should be left to qualified people, and have no problem at all with that. just disagree with you.. nothing personal. they should certainly have made parts etc available for a bit longer... anyway...
  7. it's a form of midi embedded in the VDI signal... and it already works both directions.... we can use the knobs as expressions....
  8. so much unimportant crap floated to the top.... just because they have vocal minorities... not to mention... not all musicians are even online so that's just a sampling of the online percentage. i'm positive they intend to do something with that info... but i hope they weight it appropriately... for example some of the lowest ranked crap might be bugs.... because if it's not staring you in the face, you won't care enough to vote it up.
  9. I instantly recognized the higher quality... most who spend all that time and frustration are trying to replicate previous tones.... (and of course they want it NOW) if you approach it like a truckload of new amps and pedals and go for new... it's not that hard in my experience... of course the trick is not to try and use the whole truckload at once... pick out some favorites or give a quick audition to the amps and start there
  10. Yeah, It's a great looper... i really need to spend more time with it... so easily distracted :D
  11. Yeah you can set each looper position to one of 2 output designations... the main out or the sub out. i send the rhythm track for example to my PA, and my guitar to the guitar amp. you could of course send the bass to the PA too, which i "quasi" do... i have a track set to sub, and use the transpose effect to turn my guitar into a fake bass track to the PA... keeps my guitar amp dedicated to what my guitar tracks.
  12. I have the variax acoustic 700, with that nylon string model... and i'm not even mildly impressed with it... you could probably come up with an EQ setting in the pod to come close.. it's far from magic. i'd love for them to impress me with a new nylon model... but i'm not going to get my hopes up.
  13. I don't know how it's done... firmware wise etc... but i doubt the chip is socketed etc... sounds like a pretty big undertaking... be interested in hearing how it turns out.
  14. did they happen to say if it was covered by the bulletin? AKA free? that would be a win of some sort.
  15. it's much the same as changing pickups on any other guitar... by design... have at it... feel free to send me the old ones... i like 'em! :D might try raising and lowering them first though... :)
  16. it's not considered a weakness, it's considered the way it works... its all in the timing really it is! sorry....
  17. can't do that now... but sounds like you should put it here: http://line6.ideascale.com/ certainly seems possible.
  18. deauthorize before you sell... (you have to plugin pod to deauth correctly) gift after you sell. to gift, go here: http://line6.com/account/purchasehistory/ select the invoice from your purchase and there should be a "gift" link.
  19. Yeah, I ended up getting an RC-300 myself... wayyy overkill for someone that just wants the simple pod looper to work. but i figured i'd rather grow into something, than grow out of it.
  20. FYI: ATTN: iOS users: Audiobus just sent this out: "We're on the cusp of iOS 7, and I'm here to urge caution: If you rely on music apps, please don't update yet. iOS 7 audio is not ready. There are a wide variety of bugs that are causing performance problems, crashes and other problems in a large number of music apps. This may change in the future, but until we see a few point releases for the OS, I strongly urge you to stick with iOS 6."
  21. I know graphtec has a drop in replacement, in particular one of their strat nuts thats the right size/spacing. (it's on a FAQ on their page i believe) i bought it and took it to the luthier to be installed, and he "challenged" me to try the bone.... never installed the one i bought... come to think of it, i think he kept it! haha that's probably as close to the JTV nut as you can get.
  22. It's something that hard to explain in words, you just have to practice. from the sounds of things if you attempt to anticipate the end by a hair it might help.
