  1. Yeah, micing would def be out of the norm. In the NAMM demo the have it miced to capture its FRFR capabilities. I'm not a live sound expert by any means, but I would think the headphone out would work as well as the analog outs of an X3 Live tone wise, with the exception of distance, where a DI box to run an XLR snake would seem to make sense.
  2. To other computer sounds playback distorted too? Like youtube or media players.
  3. It is possible it is damaged. Is this an older (red-faced) Toneport or a newer (black-faced) POD Studio? Do other computer sources playback ok like from youtube or a media player? You could download Reaper to make a quick recording. The evaluation is free for 30 days. May be a little learning curve depending on how familiar you are with DAW's. If you do go that route make sure you use Line6 UX1 ASIO (for pc) as your device in Reaper. The sound clip can help because sometimes it may obvious that it is a USB issue.
  4. That's crazy!! He never mentioned sharing it with anybody!!
  5. If you're using PF, click the mixer view for each tone (A + B or just A if it is not dual tone) there is a drop-down to select the input source.
  6. follow up... This is the inter face my brother from another mother uses and he's pretty happy with it. He captures a lot of band practices with it, I think 4 mics for the drums, 2 guitars, bass and vocals into Cubase. If you order from sweetwater ask for Alex and tell him Rich sent you, they'll throw some candy in the box (they'll do that anyways). I get absolutely no kick backs, with the exception of maybe an extra butter scotch!! http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/US1800?device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CLPH_6LQpLwCFcY7MgoddXMAhQ
  7. (assuming Monkey gives you green ticks) I would check you guitar cable directly to an amp to rule out a bad cable or guitar circuitry. Also, for the mic, make sure you are selecting mic as the input in POD Farm. Also, the UX1 was no phantom power so you can not use a condenser mic.
  8. Yeah, mine was ~40 when I bought it too. Not to derail the OP, but, if you are already fairly proficient in Reaper, any compelling reasons to switch to Mixcraft (besides looks)? Does it have a decent "groove" detector (I miss that from Acid)?
  9. Are you referring to the Line6 Mobile-In device? If so, unfortunately you can not load POD Farm tones for the iOS app for Mobile-In or Sonic-Port devices.
  10. +1 Zap but I think Reaper ~ $60 these days, well worth it IMHO. Not sure if Movie Maker supports ASIO, this is what you need for the 500x (and USB audio interfaces in general) . Also not sure if Audacity is directly supporting ASIO, but I know in the past you could compile it with ASIO support (Audacity wiki it). Worse case arisen, you cab record with a separate DAW and bump the audio into Movie maker post processing. Also Reaper has a decent user forum and great documentation.
  11. First run Monkey and make sure you have green ticks for everything.
  12. +1 to radatats If you are want to record the 500x sounds, you already have what you need for an interface. Do you already have a DAW? As for other interfaces, I have used this in the past http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Omega/ But it really depends on you current and future needs. My bro-in-law has been using an 8 channel (i think) that he has been happy with, I'll find out what it is.
  13. Thanks for the heads up!! This has been reported to Line6.
  14. You are probably doing all this already, but just in case here is a vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yef4o0kRK04 Also run Monkey to make sure you have green ticks for everything. For PC, make sure you have your OS up to date, especially concerning C++, I have seen users report weird behavior in PF 2.5x and it was due to old or lack of a C++ libraries, although I doubt this is you issue. Those are the only things I can think of at the moment other than logging a ticket. http://line6.com/support/tickets/
  15. No. Platinum = standard + ALL model packs (Bass, Metal Shop, ect, ect)
  16. Depends on what you're sending. You do need POD Farm (stand alone) running for anything to go the analog outs. Also make sure the Pro Fire is the sound device in your control panel and/or DAW.
  17. By disable I mean to simply have the amp and cab turned off in the PODxt. That way you get the sound of the Engl's overdrive, but you can still use any mods, stomps, delays, reverbs and gate of the PODxt. Otherwise if you have an amp model on, then you are coloring the Engl pre-amp with an amp model. Depending on your solo patch, I'm guessing you can still get a good sound without the POD's amp modeling.
  18. Not sure how well it would work with your Rocktron already in the effects loop, but you could run the amp's effects send into the PODxt and route the PODxt's analog out to the amp's effects return. In the patches for the PODxt disable the amp and cab modeling, you may also want to experiment the "what are you connected to" setting, and decide where in relation to the Rocktron you want the PODxt.
  19. Yes. But if the Pro Fire is on the same computer as the UX you may need to explicitly disable the UX to avoid conflicts.
  20. +1 to Zao. Just to clarify, you can upgrade to the newest version of PF 1.12 for free, the $99 is to go to PF 2, which IMHO is worth it. But before you toss out the disc, have you considered using it as a coaster of installation art??
