  1. The UX becomes your soundcard. You should connect you speakers or headphones directly to the UX. ASIO only allows for only one ASIO device at a time, that is why your PC is freezing. If you really want to use your PC's soundcard you need to run the UX's analogs into your PC's sound card, but that is not the intended/preferred use of the UX
  2. I can possible test this behavior tonite. But I do no the Input selections definitely resort to default and are not save to a patch and is normal behavior. I use a blank patch panned hard L/R for a Line 1 and 2, if I close PF reselect Line1 and 2. There is no mixer in the Line6 Audio-MIDI devices because without POD Farm all the UX can do is pass unprocessed signals to your DAW, it will not even pass it to the analog outs.
  3. Also run the Monkey and confirm you have green ticks for everything.
  4. Are you saving your patch before you exit? Also, most guitars should give plenty of dry signal to your DAW for reamping with a plug-in, it may look weak, but should have plenty of headroom. I personally would not use the +18dB for recording unless you are having signal to noise issues.
  5. Depends on where your POD Farm tones are from. The xt series can only do 1 signal path. So if the tone is "xt friendly" you can load them into Gearbox and then send it to the PODxt.
  6. FYI.. This is a user forum. Official Line6 reps rarely frequent them. Have you contacted Line6? http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html Also, can you post a clip of the noise? Not that it will solve your issue, but can you try this on another computer? If it works fine on another pc, it just may be the USB chipset in your laptop and you will have eliminated a faulty UX2. also Not sure who told you this, but IMHO they are very much mistaken. Interference can absolutely be be picked up and/or transferred by a devices or cables. Even your guitar!!
  7. Try a different USB cable and also try different ports.
  8. Are you connecting the speakers or headphones directly to the UX2? Which recording programs are you using?
  9. What AMP? Also, you might want to post in one of the forums under: http://line6.com/support/forum/22-amplifiers/
  10. Line Input or S/PDIF In. But it is much preferred to connect your speakers or headphones directly to the UX2 (the UX2 becomes your soundcard). Running the analog outs to your PC's internal sound card may introduce latancey. Also, if you plan on recording with a DAW, dump the ASIO4ALL and use the Line6 ASIO drivers.
  11. Also run the newest Line6 Monkey to make sure everything is up to date. This disc is relatively useless, toss it or you can save it as a flying disc, coaster, or installation art!!
  12. Definitely the dry signal is not affected by the +18dB button. So if you are recording the dry signal and re-amping with POD Farm plug-in, there is no need for a solo boost while recording, just tweak it in the plug-in.
  13. In POD Farm mixer view you can select the source for Tone A or B. Instrument/Mic/Line
  14. I see. Yeah, as you probably figured out already, you can not even select either Line In if you use the mic.
  15. Just ran across this. Maybe the "Uninstaller Pro" mentioned here might help. http://line6.com/support/topic/4468-found-a-solution-for-failed-device-detection-or-no-authorized-device-issue-on-the-pc-finally/ (I have no experience with this utility)
  16. +1 to arislaf You will get a better sound with true stereo if you run the PODxt Live's analog outs to Line 1 and 2 on the UX2. Then in POD Farm in the mixer view you need to select Line1 for tone A and line2 for tone B and pan hard Left and Right. Even better would be to just connect the PODxt Live via USB and take the UX2 out of the equation, unless of course there are effects you want to use in POD Farm. ***Warning*** If you purchased you PODxt Live 2nd hand with extra model packs, you will lose them if you update the flash mem.
  17. +1 to Zap. Line6 may be able to simply the whole matter for you. But to clear up a few points, Gearbox with the xt is only a graphical interface to edit your tones, it does not process sound. The xt is always processing the sound regardless of whether or not you are connected to a pc. POD Farm will not interface with the xt for tone editing, it may however be used a s a plug-in in your DAW with the xt acting as a dongle to authorize the model packs, or used for processing tone in real-time with a POD Studio (with a pc). Anytone you have from Gearbox should sound the same in POD Farm before you start tweaking.
  18. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the 18+ dB is for the Toneports and Pod Studios. I can check the behavior on my xt tonite. Are you recording the dry or processed signal?
  19. Is the xt yours ro did you purchase it 2nd hand with the model packs already on it?
  20. If you run Monkey you have green ticks for everything? Also, try a native USB 2.0 port (actually try al your ports). Even though 3.0 is backwards compatible, some chipsets are buggy with some 2.0 devices.
