Hi, Yes, you have moved your looper, pitch and overdrive down to create Path 1B, but that path is then re-joining Path 1A, which rather defeats the objective of having split the path. Simply highlight the point where they join, and as you did with the FX blocks, move it down to Path 1B, so it continues onto the end when it should create an output block (arrow in a circle) exactly as the one above. Now your clean unaffected signal can travel all the way to the end of Path 1A but also the split signal passes to Path 1B to go through the looper etc., and continue to the output. See the diagram - Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual Rev E - page 20 - one into two. Hope this helps/makes sense

Hi again, Well, now you have got me really confused with this issue, because the guy who told you that it can be done is the same guy who made the video which is in the post I made earlier. I recommend that you contact him (Alex Price) again and explain the situation. Better yet, download his free presets and check how he makes it work in those examples - that is possibly the only way you will discover the secret. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, again, I have a Helix floor, and other than reading the manual I’m unfamiliar with the XL, but maybe this is what you have heard can be done? This guy says “combining snapshots and stomps is a game-changer.” Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Best guess from your initial description is that GoPro Mic Adapter is not set correctly for the input coming from your mixer. As I understand the adapter is switchable between mic/line input. I would probably check how that is working first. I’m intrigued by the idea of you using your Helix for this job. I imagine that you’re using it as an audio interface from a computer to your camera. You didn’t say why the mixer is involved in this scenario, because you could simply use 1/4 to RCA cables directly from the Helix, with the output set to Line in the Globals, and then into the Mic Adapter on Line input. Anyhow a little more information as to what you are doing and how everything is set up might give more idea of the issue. Hope this help/makes sense.

Hi, You might find it helpful to read the HX Stomp XL 3.0 Owner's Manual. Page 58 > Global Settings > Footswitches. It gives all the configurations you may need. https://line6.com/support/manuals/hxstompxl It's good place to familiarise yourself with what this thing can do. Hope this helps/makes sense
-
You can - it’s not a secret - here’s a quote from the Helix Owner’s Manual - Rev E, Page 66, Global Settings > Footswitches. If you don’t want this “touch” behavior (such as if you play barefoot!), set this to “Off.” “PierM” pointed this out in the earlier comment above, also by “codamedia” back in Dec 2019. Seems simple enough to me. Although, I’m intrigued by the statement that you are rehearsing in an environment full of static electricity? You do realise that electronic components are prone to failure when subject to large static voltages. Maybe you ought to have a look at getting that taken care of. Shocking, truly shocking.

O.K. Deleted mine now. At least we know more about this now. @igorkulik Excellent!

How to connect two separate paths into a third on a Helix?
datacommando replied to m7tch7's topic in Helix
Hi, If it gets the result you want - great. As you say you are new to the Helix world, you will soon discover many ways to achieve many, many complex configurations. It’s also a great to familiarise yourself with lots of other options to construct signal paths, by reading the Helix Owner’s Manual. Plus experiment. https://line6.com/support/manuals/helix Hop3 this helps/makes sense. -
How to connect two separate paths into a third on a Helix?
datacommando replied to m7tch7's topic in Helix
In the post above from “phil_m” some of his comment is correct but I think he overlooked your idea of having everything pass through the looper. Essentially, you need to have every thing currently on Path 2A (your guitar input) needs to be on Path 1B, but you cannot have that extra Mod FX block currently running parallel to the speaker block. Then what Phil suggested, i.e route 1A(Variax) and 1B(Guitar) to Path 2A which would then contain only the looper. This is a quick and dirty solution, because sadly you cannot route paths 1A&2A though 1B. Anyhow this could be more refined than what I have suggested, but I’m busy on something else right now. Play around with it and see how you progress.. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Wow! Very, very slick. More information would be nice.

Extremely lucky. It has been my experience that wet, combined with electricity, could lead to very sudden death!. Even with a rubber covered stage, I would still give it a big NO. If stuff starts to get wet, have someone backstage ready to flick the power off and leave the stage. EDIT: I recently watched the Ron Howard documentary of the Beatles tour of the USA which describes exactly what we are discussing - here’s the quote that appeared in the review in Rolling Stone: ”Most of the open-air stadiums lacked proper shelter, and several shows were forced to continue despite torrential downpours. Clutching electric guitars, and flanked by stacks of amps and mics, the threat of electrocution was very real. “We flew off to St. Louis and it was pouring rain,” recalls tour roadie Ed Freeman, who freely admits that his only qualification for the role was his friendship with the Beatles’ support band, the Remains. “My job was to sit backstage with my hand on the plug and the instructions were: If anyone fell down, knocked out by the shock, then I would pull the plug and that would stop the show. It was a joke.” Within days they would swear off touring for the rest of their career.”

O.K. One more time - this is from the release notes in the link that I provided in the previous post: My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.11? Absolutely, but note that if you're starting with a version lower than 2.80, the update will appear to happen twice. This is normal. Go to the downloads and install HX Edit 3.10. Launch HX Edit 3.10 while having your Helix connected over USB. HX Edit should detect your hardware and tell you there is a firmaware update available. Follow all the instructions from there on in, - do not deviate! Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: OK YOU FIXED IT!
-
Hello, once more. You obviously didn’t read the release notes for FW v.3.11 which states: How do I update to 3.11? Any chance you've already updated HX Edit to 3.01 (released on Feb 2, 2021) or 3.10 (released on April 15, 2021)? If so, just connect Helix/HX to your computer via USB and launch HX Edit. The software will walk you through the entire procedure, including backing everything up to your computer. If you updated HX Edit to 3.10, THAT IS THE NEWEST VERSION AS OF THIS WRITING. There should be no reason to use the Line 6 Updater unless the instructions above fail. Full details here: Hope this helps/makes sense.

This must be a Mac running BS - yes? If it is, have you done the recent OS Update, because according to a post over one TGP, a guy did the Mac update to 11.3.1 and now Native will not work in Logic Pro X, also updated to 10.6.2. And as he says; "Apple used to be a platform that ' just works'. No so much anymore". Suggested to him was to try to revert back using Time Machine. Hope this helps/makes sense
-
Hi, Added to the laggy response with Native, Digital Igloo posted this info over on TGP about a week back. We've tracked down the bug that's causing lagginess for some users and will hopefully have a fix soon." Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I also find this post is a little vague - not sure if this refers to something which happens in HX Edit or your HX Stomp. Just to clarify the statement - “it just erases the destination preset without importing the new one.” Do you mean that you already have presets available in HX Edit but when you try to load them into your HX Stomp they are erasing the destination preset on the hardware? If you mean you cannot load the presets into HX Edit, then follow the suggestion from “HonestOpinion” in the post above - ensure you using the correct version. If you are having this happen on the Stomp, a Factory Restore might fix it - hold down FS 2+3 while turning the power on - no guarantees, but worth a shot as you already have backup files. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Done x4.

Hi, Mmm... I don’t really think that it’s feasible to “sync” Native and the HX Stomp preset management. As you know HX Edit is simply a remote editor application for the hardware, it’s essentially a “dumb terminal”. I will dig a little deeper, but that would be my initial response, even though it’s now late at night and I’ve had a couple of beers. The main difference for me is that, as a Helix Floor owner, the single/dual path thing isn’t really an issue for me, but I still prefer to keep the Native and Floor presets in separate folders - (the IR files are common to both and live in a library folder just for Impulse Response files). I would be even more cautious when working with Native if compatibility mode is turned off, (if it can go wrong it will). Also, the downside of turning on compatibility mode is it cripples Native by approx. 50%. If I had a Stomp/Native combo, I would like to be able to capture the dry guitar signal, but really let rip on the dual path stuff in the plugin. YMMV. Hope this helps/makes sense (as always).

Hi, O.K. Let’s take it one step at a time. You will be mainly using your HX Stomp as a fly rig for gigging - no problem. You obviously have a whole bunch of presets in there that you are familiar with, know and love. That’s good, and using HX Edit, you are able to manipulate those to exactly how you want them to sound. You can save all your presets, setlists etc., to a folder on your Mac, most likely there is one already inside the “Documents” folder in the side bar of your Mac, named “Line 6”. The best thing to do is to create another folder inside that one, named “Native Only”, which you can use to contain any duplicates of your Stomp presets you want to load into Native and modify. You can load those presets into Native as is, and they will function and sound exactly as they do in the hardware Stomp. Unless you modify them and save them back out from Native they will remain unchanged. That way, by keeping your fly rig/live presets separate you are always good to go and you have “fail safe” backups on your Mac. HX Edit is an editor/librarian application which basically reflects what changes you make on your Stomp hardware. There is absolutely no automation in HX Edit, you manage what is saved and updated. You need to save those files on your Mac in case of any mishap with the Stomp. Whereas, essentially, Helix Native is the software brain of the Helix Hardware and HX Edit combined in the DAW plugin. Therefore your scenario is totally implausible. As long as you keep a safety copy of the presets you might need in your hardware unit, you should be able to chop and change and create monster presets inside Native. Just remember- always work on a copy. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, As you are a HX Stomp owner, you can indeed simply import your presets to Native, and they will only use a single path. The whole point of owning HX Native, (especially if you bough it with a discount), is that you have processing power of a full Helix Floor/Rack inside your DAW, and you can create presets that take advantage of the second path. Don’t limit yourself while using Native. Sure, you wouldn’t be able to load the dual path presets back into your Stomp. Better make single path patches for the Stomp using HX Edit and full blown muscle presets in Native. Remember, your Stomp can get a Dry unprocessed audio signal from your guitar and play it back through Native using slll the effects you want. You can also have as many instances of Native open simultaneously as your computer can handle. Oh, yeah, I’m also old - a retired greybeard. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, To clarify - this issue is only when extracting presets from the backup - yes? It’s not something that I have tried, or needed to do, as I keep a folder full of individual presets, set lists, and fail safe bundles simply for ease of re-arranging presets as I need them. The backup bundle file made before the update, containing the Globals etc., worked just fine and restored to my Helix with out any problems.

Well, I suppose you could regard that “built in” guide as “hidden”. Although, the owner/user manuals aren’t a secret and are all available to download. Click on “Support” in the menu at the top of this page and on the next page is a link to Manuals, for all Line 6 products. The dinner table is easy to find - great big thing in the middle of the room, that I keep stubbing my toe on. ;-)
