Hi, I usually find that the sounds I am looking for are not in some fabled fantasyland, but they are actually right there in the Helix. You just need to bring them out. Funk is a wide ranging term, do you mean “funk” or “funky”? Some sort of reference point would be a big help. Oh yeah, obviously this stuff isn’t really going work if you’re using a seven string shred machine into a Diesel amp. You will need the correct tools to do the job. Here’s a nice example. Here’s another, coming at it from a different angle. Oh, and more here. Yet more. These guys have some for sale too. Plus an old thread from 2016. Hope this helps/makes sense. Huh? Updates? Wha..? Nah! Can’t see that happening anytime soon! Oh! Soooooooon! Were have you been? Go here and read through all 465 pages of discussion about firmware v3.2 https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-3-2.2223358/page-461#post-35716500 Hope this helps/makes sense. Hi, You can use your HX Stomp to re-amp without the need to use your Audient ID44 interface as the facility for re-amping is built in. See the HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English - Pages 55-56 USB Audio - DI Recording and Re-amping. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a418962611d636e7c51b/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev D - English .pdf This guy has a video too. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Ah... an interesting first post. If you're expecting an "early response" from a member of Line 6 staff, then you are probably out of luck. Line 6 Staff do not monitor these forums - See the "Welcome to the Line 6 forums!" black banner at the top of this page. When asking other contributors for assistance it is advisable to give as much relevant information as possible, eg: Computer model and current operating system, current DAW version, Native version number etc. No one here can speculate if this is actually an issue with Helix Native, or a fault in the DAW in which it is running. Even if this is a problem with the Native GUI, no one here would know if it will ever be fixed. Line 6 are very tight lipped about what is being worked on. If you have paid for Helix Native and encounter a genuine problem in the software you can raise a ticket with Customer Support to make them aware of the issue. They cannot fix things that they don't know about. I realise you say that you have tried using Native in a colleague’s studio, but you didn't say if you have downloaded the 15 day fully functional trial version to use on your own computer and DAW. Simply complaining that it isn't working how you might expect without trying it fully for yourself is a little odd. I did Google "Native GUI lag" as suggested, and discovered that it has been mentioned on here by some annoyed software developer who described Native in Reaper as "basically unusable". Hmm... it appears the updated version of the plug-in solved the issue in that particular case. Many happy users. Furthermore, I'm not sure who you are expecting to "Plz email me with a response", as you haven't supplied an email contact. Users generally respond to comments by quoting the Original Poster. We are not psychic! Hope this helps/makes sense.

HX Native does not respond to Program Change messages
datacommando replied to phonaak101's topic in Helix Native
Hi, You mention this happens with the VST3 version of the Native plug-in - maybe you should read this. It's not a thing that I have encountered as I'm using the AU version in Logic on a Mac. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, If you wish to support a suggestion you need to “upvote” that idea on the IdeaScale website. Posting in this thread is basically to let others know about the idea, and point them to where they can vote for it. Line 6 staff don’t monitor these forums, and therefore your comment will have little or no chance of anyone from Line 6 seeing it and getting it implemented. Has this idea actually been submitted on IdeaScale? https://line6.ideascale.com/c/campaigns/51424/stage/all/ideas/unspecified You didn’t mention if you have done that on IdeaScale. BTW, you need to be registered and logged in to vote. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Good to know that you have solved the problem. With all this high tech software we tend to think that something is wrong with the installation, and later we find that the everyday cable is the fault. It's an easy fix. Have fun recording.

Hi, You are not very clear in explaining how you are getting the guitar signal into Cakewalk, but you do mention a “soundcard” output. As you say that you have just installed the DAW, you may want to see this about setting up. It’s not Cakewalk, but most DAWs are similar. The Owner’s Manual for both Cakewalk and Native is alway a good place to start with this sort of stuff. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4179ea61fd2e9472da7/application/pdf/Helix Native 3.15 Pilot's Guide - English .pdf https://bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/docs/Cakewalk Reference Guide.pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.

Expression Pedal - Functional, But Limited Range (85% - 100%)
datacommando replied to klquick's topic in Helix
Hi, Just a thought. I know this may sound obvious, but have you checked that you haven’t inadvertently set a Controller Assignment for the EXP to a Min 85% and Max 100%. Also check your Global Settings for EXP 1 & 2. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Agreed - I cannot comprehend what is happening here, the preset functions just fine for other users. It would be really remarkable to find 2 different units displaying the exact same fault. There has to be something else here that we are all missing, but having checked out the supplied preset, for the life of me I just don’t understand this. I really think, as “codamedia” suggested, an audio clip would give us all a better idea of what the issue might be. Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine

Help! No sound when using HX Edit for my HX Effects
datacommando replied to cchild2112's topic in Helix
Hi, As pointed out by “Kilrahi” in the post above, your HXFX doesn’t function as an audio interface, therefore logically you must have it connected to another device in order to hear the audio coming from the HXFX through your computer and the headphones attached to it. The fact that you are able to:- “see and edit the patches.” - would seem to indicate that the USB connection on the unit is functioning correctly. Furthermore, how have you determined - “so it's definitely something to do with the HX Edit or HX Effects.” Huh? I don’t think that are giving us a full picture of the situation. You also say that you recently updated the Firmware on the HXFX. When the installation completed did you follow the instructions suppled in the Release Notes on the Download Page. Anything else I should know? Yes. We STRONGLY recommend performing a factory reset AFTER UPDATING your Helix/HX firmware to 3.15 and THEN RESTORING YOUR BACKUP.(Backing up is part of the update process). Here's how to perform a factory reset. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP FIRST, AS A FACTORY RESET WILL ERASE ALL YOUR WORK! Helix Floor/LT: While holding footswitches 9 & 10 (bottom row, 2 middle switches), turn on Helix Floor/LT Helix Rack: While holding knobs 5 & 6 (2 furthest right knobs below the screen), turn on Helix Rack HX Effects: While holding footswitches 6 & TAP (2 farthest right switches on the bottom row), turn on HX Effects HX Stomp: While holding footswitches 2 & 3, turn on HX Stomp HX Stomp XL: While holding footswitches C & D, turn on HX Stomp Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, As pointed out by "craiganderton" in his illustrated post above, there's lots of variation with different amps. This topic has also been covered recently over on YouTube an a video from Jason Sadites. Also he covers Bias in this video. Hope this helps/makes sense

I found a glitch/bug in my HX Effects. What should I do?
datacommando replied to bubba871x's topic in Helix
Hi, That "Multple (2)" scribble strip also had me confused there, but I have to agree with "phil_m" on this not being an issue on the Helix floor. Assigning either of the 2 newer Script Mod Phase blocks, and/or the Legacy Script Phase, they all function exactly as expected when run into the stereo Dual Delay. It does seem odd that this only seems to occur on the HXFX unit, as the firmware inside should be the same other than the lack of amps. You did't mention if you have tried a "Factory Reset" to attempt to clear any possible software glitch - usually the first line of response to unusual weirdness is a Reset. Hope this helps/makes sense -
Hi, Well, that’s the problem right there, the wrong type of mini jack - these aren’t really designed to be used with this sort of hardware. I found this quote about the Sony MDR-1 phones. “While claims they’re made for Hi-Res Audio are potentially misleading – these are fun, rather than totally accurate, headphones” It continues: “the Audio-Technica ATH-50X still trump them in some respects for less money.” I have several pairs of headphones of various brands, open, semi and closed back - all for different situations. I have a pair of the ATH-50X that I use quite regularly, and are regarded in some respects as a studio standard. Ideally you need to be listening with some accurate studio reference quality cans with the proper connection. Lots of choices out there - here are some of the most commonly used options? https://musicgearzone.com/4-best-headphones-for-helix/ Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Not sure what to make of your post - there are recovery instructions in this thread. Plus when seeking assistance from other users it’s really a big help to know exactly what computer and OS you’re using and all other relevant information. Anyhow as this has now become really tedious and to save me from more typing here’s a copy and paste from an earlier post elsewhere on the forum (along with many, many more). Here we go again! Find the list of Reset/SafeBoot options here: https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options I have said many, many times in these threads that I intended to stop giving the instructions on how to recover from a failed update, so this time I suggest that you simply go to the main section of this Helix forum and type “Boot Error: Entered update mode” into the Search panel in the top right of the menu. From the results you will probably find one of the many previous lists of instructions posted by me, and many other users, who repeatedly supplied the solution on prior occasions. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, again, I’m a little confused by this comment. The Helix headphone connection is a regular 1/4” TRS Stereo Jack Socket. If you are experiencing “very thin and broken sound” I would check the phones you are using. There are endless lists on here discussing various brands and specifications that people are using successfully. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Good to know you managed to fix the issue. As for your comment “and WHO on earth figured that one out!” - your thanks really should go to “Camelot_One”, who was the one who figured this out after 4 days troubleshooting the problem and posted the solution here: Beware the SD Card and enjoy editing your Helix. ;-)

Hi, When you say - “but it doesnt show the amp”, you actually mean it is visible in the the amp list, but it is “greyed out” and not selectable. Simple - the preset doesn’t have enough DSP left to load that block. Some amps use far more DSP than others. For example, the Badonk uses 21.67% and the Solo Lead OD grabs a huge 38.08% of available DSP. User Ben Vesco (Malhavok) has this reference list: https://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/ Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Generally when users have reported a situation where their unit freezes, as yours appears to be doing, the most likely culprit is a corrupted preset. The usual guidance for when your Helix starts to behave in an odd way, perform a Factory Reset which should clear any software glitch. See attached options below. From your comment, “this only happens when I’ve reloaded presets that I’ve made on my own, and not the factory installed ones.”, it would lead me to believe that you have the issue I mentioned about a corrupt preset. After every Firmware Update, when you restart your unit it usually goes through a “Rebuilding Presets” routine and you can see that displayed on screen. This is also should happen if you load any older presets, either your own, or others from CustomTone for example. Older presets need to be upgraded to the latest format in order to operate correctly with the new software. Ensure you have a backup of all your presets and then perform a regular factory reset. If there is still a problem restart your Helix while holding down FS10 & 11. If you still encounter weird behaviour, re-install the latest firmaware. Hi, If you click on the Windows 10 option in the drop down menu it takes you to the download page which states it is compatible with Windows 11. The menu need to be updated, but IIRC this forum is maintained by a third party, Lots of people have asked previously. https://line6.com/support/topic/64553-windows-11-support/#comment-438662 Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I download your supplied preset and I cannot see what the problem is, other than you didn't say what the IR is that you used. As you have a Litigator and a 2204 Mod in there I used an IR (MB 3P Mars 2 4 Brt) from the Michael Britt Helix Pack1 which is used on all his Plexi presets in the pack. link: https://mbritt.com/product/m-britt-helix-preset-pack-1/. I junked the 12db gain block along with the Deluxe Comp as I deemed them unnecessary. Everything seems fine - enough sustain for me using my single coils, it put it into David Gilmour land, then using my DiMarzio DP163 Bluesbuckers (more like P90's than regular humbuckers) I found that around a 3.5 to 4.5 second sustain on single notes was about average. No quite Carlos Santana, but if you can't function with 3 or four seconds without really pushing it, then I don't know what you are expecting. I really am perplexed, I don't know what to suggest other than maybe try with a fresh set of strings. Plus check how your IR is set. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Interesting first post - to a thread that has been quietly sleeping for almost a year. BTW. I would think that “PierM” (who is a regular contributor with over 1200 posts) is fully aware of the output configuration. Possible why he suggested using the USB because that is what it is designed for. Hope this helps/makes sense.
