  1. There seems to be something going wrong with the IR files which people are uploading. It looks as if there was an error when you uploaded yours, but also in an earlier post in this thread the attached media files which should be .wav format are downloaded as "attachment.php". The php thing is something to do with the server AFAIK. If the server is corrupting the uploaded .wav flies then maybe it would be wiser to put them into a folder and then zip it. Possible less chance of the file screwing up even though they are very tiny before zip compression. Just a thought.
  2. If you want to check out free IRs, check out this thread that was started yet @HonestOpinion way back at the dawn of Helix. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. This is a thing that has always completely baffled me. My Helix floor can have a maximum of 32 blocks available, and across those blocks can be added 8 Snapshots each capable of modifying 8 things in one simultaneous click. How complex is a song that requires the changing of up to 64 different parameters? Who are these people? What did they do before snapshots? “Recuerdos de la Alhambra” by Fransico Tárrega, is widely regarded as one of the hardest to play guitar pieces ever written, and yet it can be performed by a single player using a nylon string guitar. Ye gods - I continue to be astonished at how complicated some folks can make using a Helix. It seems to be one of those situations of “give them enough rope,… “.
  4. You should have told him to check this thread - it’s been up there long enough. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hmmm… well that would be rather futile, as I would guess folks are not particularly interested in that, more likely “what sort of difference does it make to the sound if I place a dynamic mic here on the cone edge”, “how much does the sound change if I swap the dynamic for a condenser or a ribbon”. Moving a mic just a fraction can change the audio significantly. That’s the only frequency that counts. In fact some people miss out amp and cabs entirely by taking the guitar signal straight into the desk. Don’t get too distracted by the science and use your ears. As noted by @PierM above - those measurements are done in an anechoic chamber, (I knew a guy who used to do that for a living). I would be tempted to say that it’s not what it says on the technical specifications sheet, but what is captured by the mic and then how that signal is treated with, for example, EQ and or compression. The tech sheet should be thrown out of the window - what counts is the final audio that enters the auditorium, or gets printed to tape. Oops, showing my age - I should have said printed to disc. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. It’s a big help to know exactly what device you are having this issue with. You say “not getting any sound”, but you only mention a PowerCab+. Is the PC+ connected via L6/ LINK, AES/EBU out, or XLR/Jack. If it is digital, do you still have audio coming from the XRL, 1/4”, or Phones sockets? Help us to help you.
  7. Hi, Looking at your screen shot it shows 2 error codes, 8201 & 8207, both of which are mentioned in this thread. There may be a solution in the thread. If you cannot fix this using any of the suggestions offered in the linked post, then you should contact Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, Giffe, When weird and unexpected behaviour happens with your device, the first thing to try is a factory reset. (Make sure you have a backup of all your presets, etc., before doing this) HX Effects Button Combination Description Holding FS3 + MODE Will clear all Presets and IRs Holding FS4+FS5 Will reset Global Settings Holding FS5+FS6 Will reset Presets only Holding FS6+TAP Will Perform factory restore (reset, Globals, IRs, and Presets) Holding the right arrow ">" Will put the unit in a fail safe update mode. Use this when the HX Effects is in an un-recoverable state To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination If this doesn’t clear the glitch, try a reinstall of the latest firmware. Still no success? Contact Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. Hi, Simple enough - just continue researching like you have been doing. Go here: https://helixhelp.com/models?categoryId=13 Check out the speakers, then Google for the tech spec sheets. example: Le Grange - Grammatico. https://www.jensentone.com/vintage-alnico/p12q Simple. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. If only! Please don’t hold your breath waiting for anyone to pick up on this.
  11. Hi, Studio dwellers like me spend years learning about mic positioning, it’s an art form. Move something a fraction of a millimetre (inch) and it can change the result entirely. It’s down to experimenting until you find a tone that suits whatever you are creating - No two will ever be the same. As for “Expert” and Resources” - Jason is always a good place to start. Sweetwater has this video: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, I guess you are referring to the gizmo that Adrian Thorpe designed for Danish Pete which is a clean boost into overdrive box of tricks. There is quite a good description of what it does in this review (link below) - take notes, and build your own from the many, many options available in the dual path Helix LT. Play around until you get something you like, it’s highly unlikely that you will break anything, but you may damage your hearing. https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/thorpy-fx-the-dane Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Hi, If these instructions don't work for you, then you must be doing something wrong, because that's exactly the way it works and I have just tested it using my Helix Floor. Oh, yes - I did test it with HX Edit 3.50 - Highlight one of the FX blocks assigned to MULTIPLE (2). Select Bypass/Controller Assign in HX Edit and change it from Footswtch 2 to None. Done If you cannot get this to work, it may be easier to delete the preset and build it again from scratch. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Not that I have ever needed to use it, but isn't that what "True Preset Spillover" was supposed to fix when it was introduced?
  15. Hi, For a long standing Helix user it appears that you didn't follow the first rule of Helix club: NEVER, EVER, UPDATE TO A NEW FIRMWARE BEFORE AN IMPORTANT GIG, RECORDING SESSION, AUDITION OR ANY SITUATION IN WHICH YOU GETTING PAID MAY BE INVOLVED, ETC. Go here, and follow the instructions provided. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Go here and follow the instructions given: Hope this helps/make sense
  18. Hi, I would hope that it genuinely is a “one off” situation. Actual hardware failures seem to be relatively few and far between. In the six years I have been using my Helix floor unit, on an almost daily basis, I have had the joystick encoder break, and the repair was very fast and efficient - including shipping both directions it was away less than 2 weeks. Luckily, I had a standby backup ready to drop in place until it was fixed. Fail safe! You will possibly see posts in here about failed USB ports, power supplies, glitchy foot-switches - most of which are not matters of life and death and reasonably easy to fix. The thing is people who have no problems with their devices, don’t usually post to tell everyone how rugged and reliable their unit is. It would appear that the majority of users don’t have that many hardware problems, mainly firmware updates and it would be fairly exceptional to have software turn your device into a boat anchor. Stuff breaks, that’s just the way it is. Valves pop, fuses blow, it’s not just digital gear that can go flakey. Hope you get yours fixed quickly and are soon back up and running.
  19. Hi, This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your request being seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, if you have more suggestions, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. You should then use this thread to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to where they are on IdeaScale, so they can vote on them if they wish. https://line6.com/support/topic/14497-helix-ideascale-community-submissions/ Hope this helps/makes sense. Pax!
  20. I have previously seen this recommended in these forums:- Contact Customer Support and have them reset your account activations.
  21. Hi, O.K. Now I'm awake, it's a new day, and I have had my coffee. Correct, the usual trick to create a split path is to stick in a bypassed Gain Block that uses no discernible DSP, but as you rightly point out this means you lose a block just to provide the split. Obviously as an owner of the Helix floor this is not as big of a problem for me as it is for you. Therefore, I would suggest the old school approach to your dilemma, i.e. an ABC splitter box to which you connect your two guitars (A & B) and take output "C" to the Stomp XL Mono L input. The external switch box will swap between your instruments and if you use separate Presets designed for each guitar - solved - and you don't lose any FX blocks. I would suggest something like this: https://www.thomann.de/gb/artec_seswb_ab_box.htm Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, I’m not near my Helix right now to check this out, and I’m not entirely sure about it, but try this. If you’re wanting to use a Y-Split to switch between the two paths you shouldn’t need to add a turned down volume block. You could set the Y-Split to path A to 100% and path B to 0%. Likewise you can set path A to 0% and B to 100%. This could be assigned to swap around when you change between Presets that use either the Tele or the Semi. This should feed the input signal to either one of the paths while silencing the other. You need to check out the HX Stomp XL Owner’s Manual - see page 40 - Split - Split Y Settings. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f21c86112a483099fb/application/pdf/HX Stomp XL Owner's Manual - Rev B - English .pdf I maybe need to rethink this when I have the Helix available. Hope this helps/makes sense.

    Helix 3.5

That’s quite true, and if you check the Helix Native slice of this forum you will notice the first “pinned thread” was started by Line6 Tony way back in 2017, then it has never been changed since Eric (Digital Igloo) changed it to read “Helix Native 1.50 Release Notes” in January 2018. They obviously take a big interest in this little community- (yeah right!). If you need to attract their attention you need to post on FarceBuck or even better TGP.
