Oh, no - I hope it wasn’t just a failed battery? Check out Fleabay - it appears that there are still quite a few around, many in Japan, which surprised me. ;-)

Hi, I wasn't aware that this "Essentials" even existed, and I then spotted @SaschaFranck has supplied a link to the German version. Anyhow, I simple typed "Helix essentials" onto Google and got this - U.K English link here: https://uk.line6.com/helix-essentials/ You mentioned GuitarGuitar - I guess you were referring to guitarguitar.co.uk who do list the Helix Essentials Sessions on their website. Strangely enough it also features an orange coloured arrow and orange coloured text in capital letters which says "VIEW OFFER". Click on that and it takes you to the same link that I found. It's a small world. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Thanks for clarifying that, as my post must have been linked back to the comment from "CamelotOne", who I believe was the first person to discover that the SD Card was causing the issue. Your link goes straight to your post (Sept 21st 2020) with your explanation and details of how to fix it. Excellent, let's hope it solves it for the OP.

Hi, Adam, I missed the Mac OS bit. Oops! Check the first post in this thread for the full uninstall routine for a Mac computer. Hope this helps/makes sense.

This was posted in the Helix Native area of the forum. See the last reply from “matsulli”. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Similar to stamp collecting - one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. It has been discussed at length in these threads, many times over. The simple facts remain that unless you are using the exact same equipment, in the exact same environment as the guy who created the preset, it will never sound correct. Guitar type, pickup type, string gauge, playing technique, monitors et al, will all change the sound of the supposed “Real Name Preset”. They are purely and simply a novelty. We will have to agree to disagree.

LOL, still got the SPX90 in the rack in the corner. I sometimes patch into it if I really do need the Symphonic preset.
-
I was rather hoping that when Yamaha took an interest in Line 6 that it might have lead to the addition of some of Yamaha's classic effects from the SPX range such as "Symphonic", but especially the one unit that Allan H actually had a hand in devising - the UD-Stomp. Allan's wonderful "dream box".

I think that I have previously mentioned in these threads that when I was a young Art Student, I used to hang out with a bunch of local guys who played our art college events. One of those guys was none other than Allan Holdsworth. Great days, and the bass player (the Gnome) keeps a flame burning for those times right here - link below. Allan became a replacement guitarist for my old friend Pete, after TZWO dissolved and re-emerged as The Museum, he later joined Tempest with former Colosseum drummer John Hiseman and bassist Mark Clarke. Oddly enough, Pete also attended the same audition for Tempest, but as he got to the stage door he recognised Allan’s playing and suddenly decided against going for it. Things could have turned out differently, as later Allan told Pete, he should have gone for the gig and he (Pete) would have got the job. It’s a very small world. https://www.zanywoodruff.com/related-bands/the-museum-1967/ ;-) EDIT: Ah, yes - Soft Machine - a huge amount of talent has passed through that outfit. oh the joy of a toy!

Hi, I’m with @PierM on this one regarding Factory Presets. Since acquiring my Helix back in 2016, I have never used them, or ever felt any need to use them. I would rather spend my time actually using my Helix to produce sounds, than make a list of something I will never need. Make back up copies of any Factory Presets that you particularly like, then flush the rest to free up 256 slots for the really good stuff that you make. The sonic improvements made since the release of the Helix, would essentially make anything from prior to the present Core update in the latest firmware rather pointless. It will just be a list of meaningless names, as shown in your .json text file. I really don’t understand this - it seems to be along similar lines to the “Let’s put real Names to the Presets” thread started back in 2016 by the aptly named “MusicGeek”. (See link) As noted on many occasions by Digital Igloo, (Eric Klein, Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc. / Line 6 / Ampeg) - “All Presets Suck!” Good luck.

I’m a long time fan of young Mr. Cordy’s approach to any modelling device, not just Line 6. The kid has some very interesting ideas, especially with pitch shift, delay and reverb techniques. He is also a big fan of the late Allan Holdsworth, which really elevates him in my book.
-
Hi, You mentioned that you have moved to a different laptop, which immediately made me think that you may have fallen foul of the dreaded SD Card syndrome. Check this thread - Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
There is this thread from way back - when Digital Igloo posted his favourite “All Presets Suck” tee shirt. Follow the link that I posted in that thread which refers to the lists of changes in presets in different firmware versions. http://benvesco.com/store/line-6-helix/ Hope this helps in your quest, (which could be eternal)

Hi, The guy in the video shows exactly what is needed to be able to use an external switch and an expression pedal at the same time. See the tutorial from 3:20 in the video - Y split cable with mini stereo jack going to a 1/4' stereo (TRS) adaptor (because that is what he has available) and in the other end it has 2 mono (TS) jacks. Some thing like this is what you require: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gxfcyffs-Splitter-Compatible-Recorder-Amplifier/dp/B0969W3L5Y/ref=sr_1_7_sspa?adgrpid=124535947344&gclid=Cj0KCQiAveebBhD_ARIsAFaAvrHqzv_-jAhNHBWocTpVl_QGeRXW0oGPcY3jFxWP0aq74TqCjrHsgosaAiovEALw_wcB&hvadid=498300120177&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9046330&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=12182611729590045974&hvtargid=kwd-304750800676&hydadcr=25720_1822151&keywords=1%2F4+inch+to+3.5mm&qid=1668966407&sr=8-7-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&psc=1 Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, There are no Line staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums” This link is where you need to go to have any hope of it been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. You should use this thread to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. https://line6.com/support/topic/14497-helix-ideascale-community-submissions/ Hope this helps/makes sense. Afterthought - why on earth would anyone ever need this information? The Helix is an ever evolving item. What it can do now is far more relevant than any preset the happened to be in Firmware version 1.06.5 from 2016. Must be one for the "completists".

Helix Update 3.0.1 "Boot Failure, Entered Update Mode!"
datacommando replied to sventydeman's topic in Helix
I did say that I was going to stop doing this, but… This is really simple! At the top of this page is a menu item named “DOWNLOADS”, click on it - then on the next page use the drop down menus to select, first, whatever hardware you are using (it helps if you tell us) , under the second menu select “Firmware” and then finally select your computer Operating System (it also helps to tell us this too). Click “GO”! The next page is where you download the Firmware (flash memory). Remember where you save it to. It’s all remarkably simple really, but as both you and the Grim Reaper cannot find it and as you are asking about flash memory, you obviously haven’t used the correct installation procedures. I despair that you have not been able to figure this out this far, therefore I have an awful feeling that you are about to screw this up even more. I suggest that you read, study and inwardly digest the following information provided in this link - and follow it to the letter. Furthermore, this thread was specifically relevant to failed updates of version 3.0.1 from December 2020. Hope this helps/makes sense, because that’s it - I really have had enough of this sh!t. -
Hi, I have been using my Helix floor as a USB audio interface to record and re-amp with Logic since 2016 (I used Focusrite for years until I bought a new Mac that did’t use FireWire). I added Helix Native when it became available in 2017. No problems, it just works as it should. If you wish to keep using your Focusrite along side your Helix you simply need to open the Audio/MIDI Setup Utility and create an aggregate device which will allow you to use both interfaces simultaneously. I really can’t see why you think you would need to modify your presets to use another interface to get the audio into Logic. Your guitar audio signal enters the interface and gets converted to a bunch of ones and zeros, then it goes from your either your Helix, or Focusrite, into the DAW. Once it is printed to disc in Logic you can play around with it as much as you like using Native which is the same software brain that is inside your Helix. It’s a data stream - just make sure your computer is capable of grabbing all that audio at once. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Is there any known plan to add HiDPI support for HX Edit and Native?
datacommando replied to PierM's topic in Helix
Hi, I don’t have any issues with Native, or HX Edit on my iMac Retina 5k 27inch monitor. I then had a dig around on the Helix Native forum pages, where regular contributor @soundog also stated that he has had no problems on his 5k Retina. Maybe you should post on IdeaScale about this, because I found this thread from way back in 2017 which was about the Editor and a 4k Monitor. Heres the link: This thread from 2018. If Line 6 haven’t done anything to update the GUI in the last 4 or 5 years, then it could be time to give them a wake up call. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Cannot Open Native after update to 3.50 Error 8207 and 8201
datacommando replied to Joeleft's topic in Helix Native
Hi, You could try following the reply I posted in another recent thread showing the same 2 error codes. Not entirely sure if it’s the exact same issue but the screen shots look the same - I’m a Mac user using Logic with out problems. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, If you don’t see the new cabs and other features, you need to ensure that the version of HX Edit you are using is the latest v3.50. see this thread: Hope this helps/makes sense. Hola, Si no ve los nuevos cabs y otras características, debe asegurarse de que la versión de HX Edit que está utilizando sea la última v3.50. ver este hilo: Espero que esto ayude, tiene sentido.

Hi. I had the problems that I mentioned in my earlier post regarding the .php file and the real download was actually made to work with the “Open Audio…etc.” option in Safari on the Mac. I’m at home right now using an iPad, and it is impossible so select and download your IR files, but the “Powerslave.hlx” works as exactly expected, no problem. Actually, I really have no particular interest in any of these IRs, it’s more to do with the downloads being renamed as .php files, which has started to happen a lot quite recently, and not just on the Mac platform. This forum and it’s general maintenance is getting bad once again. Hope this helps/makes sense.

I only looked up the link for the OP. (Which took about 30 seconds). I didn’t try it out, so really I can’t provide a comment about how good it is, or isn’t. The guy behind it does state: Important! This tool is a personal project in very early development, He has an email link on the page, maybe he is open to requests, and contributions to help him develop it to that level - if it’s even feasible. Drop him a line, who knows how it will progress?

The option in Safari shows, Download Audio, Download Audio As... or Copy Audio Address - using any of these options results in a file named "attachment.php" being downloaded - very strange indeed. Just Now I have discovered that the other 2 options in Safari are - Open Audio in New Tab or Open Audio in New Window - selecting either of those options results in the correct IR .wav file downloading directly to the Downloads folder on the Mac. Weird! Your zipped folder works perfectly by simply clicking on the file. Thanks. Either way - Solved
