It was not my intent to say anyone not caring. I was just stating my reasons. Just for a little background I traveled the World from 1983 until early 1990 basically as a roadie of sorts. This has probably caused my paranoia. I do not even like taking a guitar in a gig bag though mono makes amazing gig bags and my PRS gig bag for the Starla is nice. I bought a gator case for it. I know Gator makes decent stuff. I just want the reinforcement of the mono. I actually thought about a road case first. I hope the line 6 bag is nice for people. With my X3 I actually had a Boss bag because I thought it was sturdier with more padding than the line 6. See? Paranoid... Lol. But I saw a lot of broken gear on the road caused by poor protection.

I could fit a laptop in the side pouch of the Mono bag I picked up. After seeing others, I do not know how long I would trust the gator and other choices with the weight of the Helix alone after time. Mono is far superior in build. But it's not a backpack either. Maybe I am paranoid and the others would be fine. Of course the list is almost $170 on the mono bag (you can get discounts if you ask),

I thought about that but no. I pretty much have it cranked to the point were it almost hurts. With a pick all is cool. Should be more specific and state I us finger picking with Les Paul, Telecaster etc. I honestly think it is one of those things it just isn't for me. I tried to use it as much as I could in warranty but illness and waiting on the Helix pushed me past. I am no upset . No ones fault but mine there. I will just try to sell it. I should be able to with the extra battery, two Variax cables, one L6 one custom. I do wish I knew someone else local that had one to compare though. Even a shop. If there is an issue I don't want to rip anyone off. I will take a but if a hit just so even if someone sent it in they would be ok. That said, I still think it's just something I don't like.

Ya. That was sort of the point of my earlier posts. New guys come in and ask like you did and every time this kicks off. You didn't know any better but I do not know how to prevent it from happening again. I think they could safely say what bugs they are working I as that really does not affect things much. But as for new features like more phasers, amps, etc, that is exactly the type of thing they can not talk about . It could affect sales, stocks and more. Then if they are not able to come through for some reason it opens up a new can of worms.

I would imagine all the Line 6 guys are touchy about this as it has been beat to,death on here many times with complete explanations why their policy is what it is. Yet it comes up constantly like this. I am not sure how they can prevent it as new people Jon every day and no one would read a disclaimer. There best bet might be to delete any conversation like this that is currently active and make zero reply to any new question like this. I do not want to try to paraphrase the explanations because I am sure I would mix something up.

Yes it does. But going to fast thinking you hav it mastered creates issues. Sorry. Should have made it clear it was more satirical. I did it by my forearm bumping the other knob as I attempted to hit cancel. Shouldn't hav posted it with everyone being so serious a the moment. I am just a klutz.

Has anyone besides me accidentally cleared all block on a patch you created? I did...grrrr. Actually it could have been worse. I had backed it up earlier that day so I only missed a couple changes.

It is probably fine after the flash. I think I just don't like it. I will have to let my son try it and see what he thinks. I believe what I am hearing during finger picking is just modeled string vibration minus the normal artifacts you would here from the bridge etc. I just doesn't sound right. With a pick it is fine. I put it up for sale locally for $650 with the extra battery and the long Line 6 Variax cable. I will see after my son texts it if I actually sell it. I have has two inquiries already
-
Yes. Partially because I bought it to use with my Helix and was waiting on it but mostly due to illness that had me laid up and now on a heart monitor.
-
I normally buy from Sweetwater. Why I didn't with this who knows?
-
Since I registered it would Line 6 do it directly? I can't actually remember where I bought it..lol..but I do have receipts somewhere. Most places beyond thirty days would probably tell me to contact Line 6 anyway.

Yes to all. Basically any sound that I finger pick on it has the team fly stretched skin sound. The model sound is there but it a still has that quality. And hybrid picking real makes it sound bad though I do not do that a lot. I really can't think of any other way to say it. It isn't as pronounced as the banjo model but still has the quality.
-
What firmware revision are you on? Hopefully now that DI has confirmed that they have at least seen the issue they will be able to narrow it down quickly.
-
It is back to that crappy banjo/resonator type tone whenever you finger pick. It looks like a Variax Standard will be up for trade real soon. I should have known better. I never like the old Variax either. I somehow thought he'd versions would be drastically improved.

I am sorry. I should have been more specific. It just locked up. I have been able to replicate it three times. For some reason after Playing the guitar for a bit if I go to change dirt boxes the tube driver shows available. If I select it the unit locks up in an obvious out of memory situation. On reboot it a grayed out. I am pushing the dsp.
-
In another thread DI announced that they have now seen this issue and are working on it.
-
I need to make a report on my freeze up. It did it twice today and I am pretty sure I know why. I didn't have enough dsp for an affect but it still showed up when turning the joystick. When I selected it the Helix froze. When I rebooted it was not available. Tube drive selection n my same loaded preset each time.
-
Moving the joystick without rotating (split from "on the fly saving")
BigRalphN replied to mdmayfield's topic in Helix
I felt the same way at first, but I actually like it now I am used to it. I just use one finger and tap it left or right. If you grab hold of it it is near impossible not to turn it. -
I had a freeze up today. All I was doing was changing an effect in a block. Reboot fixed it. Sorry if the bug comment seem directed at you spawn. It wasn't at all. I do think there are people who are understanding and I also understand your concern of it is the major part of your rig. From what I have experienced the issues seem to pop up when editing or after an edit on reboot. I have yet to have am issue live but I use one preset with a switch dedicated to amp switching. The only reason I made the comment is because of posts I have read lately saying it should not have been released yet.

You can hold down buttons 9 and 10 while booting. That should do it.
-
Ok. Ignore a lot of above. While I am still not sure about the acoustic models. I fixed the everything sounds like a banjo issue and the tele models even sound a bit better. Apparently something was messed up in the firmware. I flashed the most recent version and everything is much better. I just left the post above in case others get the banjo thing. One issue I have is that while playing my hand will often switch the five way. I do not recall that ever happening with my strats. I have compared them and I am not sure why I do this with the Variax. i also read the manual again and now the models make a little more sense.
-
I got my Variax standard a few months ago in anticipation of using it with the Helix I preordered. I will have to say I am not overly impressed. Telecaster models sound weak. I do not find the order of models on the five way very intuitive and acoustic models sound fake and processed. I had a VG Strat at one time and it was far superior. Now it seems like every model has a banjo, like quality to. I may try reflashing the firmware if that's possible. The only thing I do like is the Yamaha body tstyle and stock single coils which sound ok (though I would replace them with a more vintage sounding set if I decide to keep,it). I did not come here to be a troll. I want to like this thing as it would be nice for much of what I do . Is everyone else happy with theirs? Have you had issues? What did you do to get it to sound decent. It is annoying to finger pick with a chorus setting on a Strat or tele model and get this twangy banjo top twang here and there.
-
I had one on the first firmware revision. I blame it on not doing the optional step of resetting presets. It happens right after a firmware update. I had no issues after the reset. The last firmware update went smoothly and I did the reset. i have had a few other little anomalies, all around editing, but none were big deals. I quick reboot fixed them and I lost nothing. One was a freeze up and the other was loss of sound. I have used it live at church every week since purchasing with no issues. It is funny. I understand people like yourself wanting to off. People need to realize this is a brand new product. There is no way to test everything in a controlled environment. There are going to be issues in an early release once it hits masses like this. But for live performances I have not heard of issues yet.

I created an ideascale request number 2796 that they add a Dallas Arbiter Treble Boost to the effects. I know they have a ton of work so effects will probably take the back seat for a bit but the Rangemaster is a simple circuit and should be easier to model than many other pedals.
