  1. Interesting. Was the unit losing its bios settings then?
  2. The left out on Helix (by itself) is Mono, and the left monitor input on the FH1500 (by itself) is also mono.

    6, 7 or 8?

I have some Event Studio 6's I found at a pawn shop that sound excellent.
  4. Ive done this- makes yer butt pucker alright :P BTW Harbor Freight sells the nicest (and cheapest) little suction cups for this task.
  5. I'm sorry but isn't that a contradiction in terms? Your avg. FRFR (full range flat response) speaker better sound and be "flat" or it isn't worth its own salt (or plastic). I dont want "colored" sounding headphones (which most of them are- bass heavy too), and that's the reason for not tweaking with them on Helix or any modeler. I would LOVE to find a pair of studio headphones that were indeed "flat" and represented the sounds of my Mackie HR824 studio monitors (or FH1500), because if they did I could then create studio and stage sounds for Helix with them in silence. Maybe the word "don't" in your sentence was a mistake? :)
  6. Not to argue but Ive repaired hundreds of "boxes" with electronics in the case that was zapped by a static discharge from outside the box, FYI. Just remember to try and touch something else grounded before you touch Helix if its a dry and windy day. :D
  7. I'm running into my FireHawk 1500's Left and Right Monitor in's from Helix L&R outs (and it sounds great to me) thru a mixer which has 4 subgroups, that also allows me to send into the "return" in jack when I'm using my Kemper's 3 outputs (this give me a "wet-dry-wet" setup). The subgroups on the Behringer X2442 USB mixer allow me to do this. The FH1500 is basically an FRFR combo amp with its own amp FX and cab emulations and flat response, giving me accurate sounds from both the KPA and Helix. Yes thats AFFIK correct, and the horn is also activated as well when you use the guitar input, or the return in jack. SO, if you used an aux send on Helix set to line level (right after the amp & cab and before the post effects) into the return in on the FH1500, this should also give you a "wet-dry-wet" mix on the FH1500 too!
  8. Static electricity can damage anything electrical. Ground yourself before touching equipment and you should be ok.
  9. Hummm, I've been doing that with taxes for years... What about the old products? Any new development there? ;)
  10. yes..., of course you can turn up headphones! ;) I was speaking purely on not using them to craft a stage monitors tone with.
  11. Headphones are great if you don't ever want to play on stage, because what you tweak in with the headphones in most cases won't sound right thru the powered FRFR speaker or amp/cab. If you are planning on using a DAW with host software (Cubase-Pro Tools-Sonar-etc) then yea you need headphones if for nothing else but to lay down vocal tracks while you monitor thru the headphones. But, if you are going to play thru FRFR or play on stage, dont use headphones to set up your patches, or you will spend lots of time redoing them later, when time is not what you have....
  12. Yes, as always YMMV. For instance I much prefer my FireHawk 1500 over the CLR's I had.
  13. Yep, money is the bottom line for most companies. Take the Vetta 2's demise for example... ;)
  14. If you are talking about the tone then yes I agree. If you mean the operating system, then the Mac and Windows OS is just about all there is for most folks. Sure there's Linux and such but how many do you know that run RedHat as their only OS these days?
  15. And yet the latest Pro tools runs on either a Mac, or Windows system, and no other. Isn't this correct?
  16. Arnt you afraid of getting the red ring of death? ;) Next time Helix locks up try this...
  17. Ahhhh now I see. A "console" user.... ahhahahahahaha...
  18. I've been running logic since Logic 9 on a late 2009 iMac and not had a problem or error i've not caused myself. I also run Cubase 9 and I did run Pro Tools 12.5x for a bit too, all legal copies mind you, with no issues. Im running Sierra now, but didn't update until I was sure all my software would work in it. No issues as of yet. I also built over 12-15 PCs over the years, (and ran them as Daws and gaming machines- never mixed) and I've found out that if I set up the PC for what it's being used for, then run the proper utilities as needed and then stay off the sites that push crap onto the OS I'm usually just fine. I do hate the registry in Windows with a passion, but that's just me... :P
  19. Aww you didn't have to make me blush... :P
  20. I need a touch screen keyboard added, An Ice machine with cruise control next update please... Oh yea, and a tuner for the editor.
  21. Each to their own and YMMV, but there are plenty of folks that swear by these...
  22. Go to a music store and play one. That's the only way you will know if it suites you.
  23. nice playin, and the way a strat needs to be exercised !
  24. Possible HO, but by the time that's in place Helix may be sitting on the shelf next to my Vetta2.
