  1. As with all the great ones, that is the best we can do. But getting close is where the practice and fun pays off in spades!
  2. Yea once you get yer head around that its a pretty straight forward concept. +1 for Line 6 on this.
  3. You won't miss that built in pedal when you have 2 or 3 Mission pedals sitting by it, and don't forget to get one of them with the toe switch.
  4. Fractal has always had a waiting list, because they make a good product, and other than Kemper and now recently Helix, they had no real competition tone wise.
  5. Most Excellent tips guys! Works like a charm not and switches between the cab and Rotary!!! :D Thanks!
  6. LOL you don't think that's an outdoor potty too? ; )
  7. Play at night if possible, don't wear shades and use a cut out card-board box over the top of it during the day. I know that might look lousy but you gotta see the display...
  8. Yep what I thought but Ive thought many things lol... Generally speaking then its No cab if yer running a Leslie -Thanks guys. Ok so what do you do if the leslie is a stomp I.E. on/off option? Is there a way to swap back to the cab for the leslie when its switched off perhaps? Just read Parallel- sry... :P so if they are in parallel then signal flow is into one or the other ?
  9. Finally got to play with Helix some today- got the 3rd mission pedal involved with the speed settings on a rotary effect. So when you are running a rotary effect (Leslie cabinet) and you have a cab for the Amp as well, don't they interact tone wise? How can I do this without adding the mud of both cabs together ? Or do I just not need to to run a cab (IR) when running a Leslie?
  10. yea the floor model is harder on the back hideout... Why I went with the rack.
  11. Yes you should know Helix front panel, but the editor for me makes adjusting Helix patches a snap.
  12. You are basing this on an equal playing field of digital ones and zeros being converted back and forth between the boxes. In that vein you would be correct, but the reality is they are not equal. One of the reasons why, and way Fractal Audio described it once IIRC was in the cost and quality of the A>D & D>A conversion chips. You see the Cheap ones sound, well cheap. Expensive Analog to Digital conversion (chipsets and design) sound better and cost more. That does make sense to me because thats one of the reasons (there are others including design costs) on why some units cost 299 dollars, and others cost 2999.00... Its not just the software that makes the sound my friend... ;)
  13. My general opinion on "any" software guitar amp package (Guitar Rig, Revalver, Amplitube etc etc) versus an Axe FX II, a Kemper, or Helix, is that the software loses big time every time. At least to my ears thats been the case.
  14. This is like asking if Line-6 knew how much air was in the football after they won the game... ;)
  15. As long as I hear a change in Helix in real time as I tweak via the editor, idk if its on line or otherwise. Im not a big fan however of "turn based" software. Chess is for that stuff... ;)

    Firmware update??

I think the thing that needs to be addressed here is that its being worked on, and we are being informed of this! Its NOT being mothballed or replaced at this point in time as far as I can tell. Again, we are being told that they (Line-6) are fixing and adding to the Helix toy box, and FWIW for Line 6 to give out "any" information like this beforehand is a miracle in itself. Thats REALLY important to understand at this point. +1000 L6! Sure, we are all excited about what is to come, but please have patience. The "I want everything yesterday attitude" won't get you anything but frustration. I know because Im guilty of that myself. And in the mean time, do what amsdenj stated, TELL people just how great Helix sounds.

    Firmware update??

    Good news for sure!
  18. To the OP- Kemper or Helix is a great choice. I have both so its not hear-say. The thing that just floored me about Helix is how I could get KILLER tones tight out of the box with very minor tweaking, and play for hours on end. I could NEVER do that with an HD or Pod. They have really done their homework over at L6, and it shows.

    Updater Error

so the files won't open? Have you re downloaded them to see if that helped?
  20. The thread topic for those who don't know any better will blame Helix, and not the inexperances of its users for the problem. Happens all the time and you aren't the 1st to do it. It's always the hardware before its us. Please fix that when you get a chance by adding "solved", or something to that affect. Thanks.
  21. You could also forget to bring your guitar. Either way that is still not line 6's fault for being forgetful. Helix is freeking amazing and for me, I'm glad it's not another HD xyz clone! Just use another guitar for yer pedals, and switch between them, provided you remembered to bring it. ; )
  22. No I don't think you can delete amps per say, but You can pick which ones to use, and then change them to another iirc. Watch the YouTube videos as this was the best source of info before I bought one.
  23. Nice stuff here guys keep um coming!
  24. The only like example I can give is that Windows registry will still allow the OS to boot up too, until it gets "too" corrupted. In which case you must reformat the drive. If Helix gets too many presets to be rebuilt, is it possible it won't boot up as well?
