    Cleaning a helix

Whatever you do, don't ever use Windex... EVER.
  2. Yes. I admit that I've been harping about certain UI conventions that I totally disagree with on the Helix. There's always room for improvement and I wish (because I know that they could be) that some things were easier to do but the bottom line is... I LOVE THE WAY THIS THING SOUNDS!! I never thought I would ever say something like that about a Line 6 modeler.
  3. Are the midi channels matched and is the Marshall set to receive midi data? Do you have a midi implementation chart for the Marshall? Maybe there's a clue that could help in there.
  4. The point of this exercise wasn't really about the blocks or running out of them. I know I can have more blocks. The point was what I had to do to get this setup to work and that an A/B switching system would have been simpler. Whether this is the way it should be done (according Line 6) or not is irrelevant. I hardly ever adhere to what others say about how things are supposed to be done. Humbug! Even though these two particular paths are similar, it's just an exercise - an example. This is the way I want to do it because I want two discrete paths capable of doing two radically different things. And also, this gives a much clearer picture of the signal paths and it's easier to see what's happening at a glance. The other methods are a cluster *^&%.

Ridiculous!

    Two questions

Anyone know how to customize the name of the expression pedal?

I'll give that a shot. Thank you, kind sir.

    Two questions

So, are you saying that if it's set on BPM, the Tap button will work?

    Two questions

How do I assign the Tap Button to the Delay time or anything for that matter and how do I customize the name of the Expression Pedal? Ok third question. Why isn't the Tap Button automatically linked to the Delay Time?
  10. Which for me, is most of the time. It would be nice to have the option of having the Global EQ as a home page.
  11. Nope. You're not missing anything as far as I can tell other than instead of calling up a gain block, call up an effect that you actually want to use. Oh and the manual is crap. I'm sorry, but there it is.
  12. Hmmm... Thanks but doing that would drive me batty.

    "Different" IRs

    I don't expect them to.

    "Different" IRs

Noooooo. :D I'm thinking of things like an Upright Bass IR to improve the sound of my NS Designs Wave 4. That and I like to add things in my recordings that are chordal and or melodic but unidentifiable.

    "Different" IRs

Anyone know of a Piano IR available? I like to experiment. :P
  16. Perhaps so. However, if you've got an effects chain already setup and you like it the way it is and is already full of blocks, but you want to create a new path below it, instead of just being able to create a split, you have no choice but to 'disturb' the existing chain by moving one of the blocks down, add an effects block so that the path stays, and then move the block you moved down back up to its original position. That, to me, is equally slow. The other thing is, why can't we have both methods?
  17. Yup. I have to get out of my tweaking rut.
  18. I seem to find that for overdrive sounds, I don't like anything but the ribbon mics. I must admit that I haven't really explored all the abs as I got tired of switching the mics out to one of the ribbons. I kinda wish that your mic choice and your sag, bias, etc. settings would stay put while you're switching cabs and amps around.
  19. I think that people are smart enough and will figure it out and I think you can make it so that you have to intentionally mute an input. Speaking of muting, I've found a little trap in the implementation of the sends and returns. Those connections are not "normalled" like in patch bays. Thus, if you have a return active and nothing's connected there, you get No Signal. LolWell, OK, you do if you have the mix set at 50% or less but I always have mine set to 100% so that there are no phasing issues.
  20. Yes. Thank you. I did try your suggestions and yes they work. Implementing them however has only cemented my opinion that they are in fact work arounds and a completely inelegant and needlessly complicated way to achieve a rather simple objective.
  21. Yes I'm sure that would work but all of these suggestions are technically work arounds. My question is this. As capable as the Helix is, why should we have to use work arounds in the first place? Ridiculous!
  22. Assigning an output messes with the reverb tails - cuts them off. Not cool. Unless I'm mistaken, the Path a/b method can run out of DSP quickly in some scenarios. I want to make it so that each path has as much DSP headroom as possible. I also want it so that the different paths and their signal chains are easy to see. It looks kinda muddled using the current A/B method. I still don't understand why it would be a problem to have inputs (or delay types as you suggested, for that matter) that are foot switch assignable.
  23. Thanks, Digital Igloo. I know how to assign blocks and parameters to a footswitch. However, when I'm at the input parameter of say, Path 1, where you can choose "Multi", "Guitar", "Variax", etc or none, I can find no way to assign one of those choices to a footswitch. It would be nice if you could have each Path switch from "Guitar" in the minimum setting and "None" in the maximum setting via a footswitch. Path 2 could then be assigned in the reverse order - "None" in the minimum setting and "Guitar" in the maximum setting. Currently I know of no way to do this.
