  1. It'd be interesting to use an electric guitar with piezo saddles with this patch.
  2. So, that Novation bag working well for you, Skategeezer? Any complaints or things you really like about it?
  3. Are other USB devices having issues with El Capitan? I'm not seeing any issues on either of my MacBooks but then I don't have a Helix... Yet. Furthermore, if it's mostly the Helix that's having issues, how can this possibly be an "Apple problem"?
  4. Thanks for your response, Dshow. So have you tried that cranked twin I speak of?
  5. Ha ha! Well, my first option is the Boss L2 but plan B is the Novation. If putting a Line 6 product in a Boss bag will rip the fabric of the space time continuum... then we'll all get entertained. LOL
  6. Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you!
  7. So, a little OT and I apologize in advance, but I just want to make sure I'm understanding this right. When you have two separate internal signal paths, I am correct in assuming that you can assign a footswitch to route the guitar input to either Path A or Path B? So then you could have signal path A for acoustic sounds (if your electric guitar has piezos - and mine does) and then hit the switch and it would route the signal to path B for electric sounds? Is that correct? I wouldn't be asking if the manual were a bit more clear about this stuff. It's pretty vague as far as I can tell. Kinda ticks me off.
  8. Hmmm... My old GT-8 had that feature but still it would miss things within a certain effect that was distorting. Fortunately, it was almost always the EQ.
  9. Indeed. I take it that that feature is not there yet?
  10. Well, I think that chaining things up all in one path can sometimes lead to some gain structure challenges. How do you tell which block is clipping?
  11. I'm sure there's no comparison but as a Fender Mustang Floor user whom, despite its many shortcomings, manages to get very usable sounds about of this cheap little modeler. I'm sure the Helix will eradicate all of the thing I miss in the Fender. So no, it's nowhere near what the Helix is. Let's just get that out of the way. One thing it does offer very Fendery representations of classic Fender amps... Duh. And... And it has Sag and Bias controls for every amp model!!! All this at a price of $199! One of my favorite things to do is to cranks the Sag and Bias on the Fender Twin model and crank it and lowered the preset volume setting - very fun. Has anyone done this on the Helix and what does it sound like? Any clips?
  12. I think it has to do with the way piezos respond to the greater force applied to the crystals when you strum. Even running my acoustics through my Fishman Aura Spectrum this is still a bit of a problem. Not as bad but it's still there. I'm wondering if this is something that a sophisticated multi-band compressor might be able to help alleviate. Then again, if you switch between picking and strumming within a song, what's good for one style may not work for the other.
  13. Thanks for allaying my concerns about my recent leap of faith in buying the Helix. Now, all it has to do is get here.
  14. I guess my trepidation comes from my horrible experience with the XT Live which, admittedly, was a long time ago but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Line 6's Pre-Yamaha approach to compressors. It seemed that they didn't understand how they worked at all - not by a long shot.
  15. They don't feel the same, in my experience.
  16. Compressors!! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/More-guitar-compressor-models/806027-23508
  17. I want this compressor's characteristics. Decidedly not transparent nor studio suitable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAejjSzXdqU Or this one... or both!
  18. That one's fine for leveling purposes but it's far too clean and transparent and doesn't sound like a proper guitar compressor. Not what a some of us are looking for.
  19. Well, that'd be fine if you can see those tiny little icons from where you're sitting.
  20. Maybe it's an oversight?
  21. Thanks for clarifying, gunpointmetal. Indeed, it seems to me that since there isn't a real one to model and the original didn't have a Hum parameter in the first place, it stands to reason that the Helix version won't have one either.
