    I must be nuts.

My motto is, "When experimenting with a modeler, if you can, you should!" What would the world be if no one asked, "What if?"

Yes, except I'm using the whole amp less the speaker - Power amp and all just to be wacky. Gonna have to try it with just a preamp next.

So I did this crazy thing. I setup a patch with a Fender Deluxe (Vibrato channel), a Twin cab and here's where it gets nutty, a Valve Driver between the amp and cab. Hefty volume drop but man it sounds cool. Very greasy SRV type tone and feel. Probably going to have to put in a Gain block to boost the output level.
  4. I wonder how much ventilation the Helix needs.
  5. That will not have anything to do with the mixer input clipping. But it's a good reminder.
  6. Not to mention the increased chances for more bugs and instability that can often plague frequent updates. You can't catch them all when you're going too fast.
  7. What do you guys think? Thanks. Parameter Control via Volume Pot Virtual Treble Bleed Cap
  8. I can see how an RTA would be a resource hog in the Helix but I don't think a line representing the EQ curve would be very CPU intensive.
  9. I posted this on IdeaScale a while ago. Please upvote it. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Graphical-representation-of-the-EQ-curve/810465-23508
  10. Yeah, I was really asking for my brother. He's created a few patches he likes and then decided to buy some IRs. He was using Amp+Cabs but now with the IRs, he'll to replicate the settings in the Amp+Cabs, ignoring the Cab of course, and reentering them into the new Amp only block. Tedious but I guess that's the way it is.
  11. What's wrong with the case handle? It's plenty sturdy.
  12. Can you copy the Amp+Cab's settings onto just an Amp block? Obviously ignoring the Cab portion of the settings
  13. Every modeling unit I've ever owned has had a delay when switching patches. Maybe it's because I've used modelers for so long that this little bugaboo hasn't really gotten in my way. I just adjusted my playing to accommodate the delay and it simply has not been an issue. 2.5¢
  14. Does it hum whether or not the instrument is plugged in? Are you using XLR cables or 1/4" phone plugs? If you're using the 1/4" plugs, are they shielded or are they unshielded speaker wire? Speaker wire will hum when used with powered speakers.
  15. In the Finder, hold down the option key and click on "Go" at the menu bar.
  16. Sometimes... But not consistently so. Therein lies the problem.
  17. I think Line 6 will indeed find ways to "improve the breed". IMHO, the Helix is the finest product they've ever released and any improvements to its sound and or capabilities will only spur on more sales. Death to the little glowing glass bottles! Just kidding.
  18. Sorry. Didn't mean to rub it in. Yes, deleting all Line6 associated files, reinstalling and restarting might help. If you know how to reveal the user library, you might want to look in there too. Look in the preferences folder for any Line 6 plist files and delete them.
  19. Interesting. When my Helix arrived, my mid 2010 MacBook Pro was running 10.11.3. The update to 1.06.5 went through without a hitch.
  20. 60 seconds is not nearly long enough for me. I do a verse, chorus, verse, chorus and sometimes a bridge while I'm singing and then start the loop to solo over.
  21. Well then it won't be much different from just using any old adapter. The idea is to have fewer cables coming from the power strip. Yeah but then you'll have all this extra cable that you'll have to coil up coming from the 9v adapter. Even if the polarity was correct, I would have cut it off to keep the cable lengths at an absolute minimum and keep things tidy... which is why I did it in the first place. A little O.T. but I really think that every guitar player. bassist, keyboardist, would do themselves a lot of good if they learned some super basic electronics and learned how to use a soldering iron. You should at least learn to fix or even make your own cables.
