You would typically lose 3-6dB if you remove a sub (ours or any brand) depending on how much low frequency coupling you are getting. That means you would have somewhere between 1/2 to 1/4 of the power available with a pair. I would recommend anyone setting up the system start with all Line 6 speakers set in the 12 o'clock detent position. If that's too loud then start turning down the mixer. That's the most simple solution. If you need more bass I would recommend that you add it to the channels and not turn up the subs as turning up the subs adds more bass to everything, including those channels you do not want to add more bass to.

Distortion Using Hammond Xk-3 Organ
dboomer replied to iamspg's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
There's always a chance that you have a hardware issue. But it's not likely if other sources work satisfactorily on that channel. Do you have the ability to try a different mixer at your dealer to rule out a mixer problem? btw ... when auto-trim says the signal is too hot that does not necessarily indicate a problem. The auto-trim feature has a range that is can reduce and it will correct the signal to that amount. But if you have a signal that is beyond it will still work but you will have lower headroom on that channel. You can simply turn dow the instrument if it has an output control or add a pad in line. You also could try plugging into inputs 1-12 and get a different result. But if you are still getting distortion no matter if you turn down the trim and your instrument and other sources do work on the channel I would be exploring the instrument itself or some kind of mismatch between your hammond and the mixer. I can't find and tech specs on the Hammond wrt output level or impedance. I assume you have tried using different cables? -

So I suspect that your receiver does not have the correct version to work with RF2. Thanks ok as I usually recommend running in RF1 mode anyway. Switch the transmitter to RF1 mode ... Instructions in the sticky at the top of the forum page. ( and Knowledge Base)

Distortion Using Hammond Xk-3 Organ
dboomer replied to iamspg's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
The M20d is capable of better than +20 dB so it should not be a problem. If you turn the trim all the way down do you still get distortion. -
When you first power up the transmitter does it say RF 1 or RF2 in the window?
-
Knowing only this small amount of information I can only make a few guesses. The fact that the RF LEDs when to red means that the receiver lost the signal. This could be from range limits, loss of line-of-sight or local interference. It could also happen if the transmitter is having hardware problems. I would need to know which mode you are operating in? Are you using the factory power supply? Are there any other Line 6 wireless devices used in the same venue?

Virtual Tilt Question
dboomer replied to litesnsirens's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Virtual tilt happens only on the back line settings (gator,ac gtr, and keybd). So we expect if you are you using them with subs you will be in reference PA or playback mode. -
Can you post a small section of the affected wav files?

Request For Next Firmware
dboomer replied to jeanpicasso's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Just so you understand the process ... The product managers review the product feedback list and catalog the suggestions. We get a lot of suggestions that fall more towards customizing a product for a single user and we get requests that have a larger number of mentions. The ones with more general interest make it much closer to the top of the list. -
The DI box has both a direct and an isolated output. Did you try the isolated output? Is there a difference between the outputs? Can you try making ceratin that all phantom power in the mixer is turned off? There are a lot of potential problems so I need to isolate them as best we can. I would also suggest that you "create a new setup" so that there is no possibility of dragging any stored info with the channel settings. Test using the "plain mic" setting and all other parameters as neutral as possible. What gain shoes on the trim setting? If you think that EMF is getting into the system an easy test would be to use a long cable (for testing purposes) and move the receiver 20 feet or more away from the mixer. So connect the receiver to the mixer with a long mic cable and put the receiver close to the mixer. Now have someone pick up the mixer and walk as far away as they can. Did the noise change?

Deceiving Advertising By Line6!
dboomer replied to antonioctd's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Hey Antonio You are misunderstanding the definition of streaming. Streaming is a way of transmitting data when the complete file does not have to be downloaded before playback can occur. The term by itself does not imply near real-time performance. It would be wonderful if the latency could be reduced but we've never represented that the M20d could be used as a recording interface. In fact we've gone out of our way to point that out in this forum many times. They way we imagine streaming to be used would be by someone podcasting a live show in near real time. They would do a live room mix for the audience using the M20d and stream the audio over to a DAW where a different mix for broadcast could be constructed and transmitted out. The M20d's recording ability is to capture your live performance and then transfer the files (download, not stream) over to a computer DAW for remixing, sweeting, overdubing etc. The M20d was never intended to be used to do final mixes as you cannot transfer your 2tk mix out digitally. -
Hard to keep track as we've got this thread going on 2 different forums. I'm going to shut the other one off and we can continue the discussion here. I need to confirm that you are using a passive DI box with a transformer and not an active DI box that requires batteries or phantom power. What specific DI box did you try this with?
-
Line 6 wireless systems still continue to transmit when they are muted as only the audio itself is muted. As mentioned above, if you have time to turn one off before turning the other transmitted on it will work. But it make the chances for operator error much higher. So it depends on how important your show is.

Line Array? Yeah Line Array.
dboomer replied to Sonicstudios's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
For a "line array" to behave as a cylindrical wave the length of the line needs to be far greater than the wavelength of the lowest frequency (and generally about 4 times the wavelength). The wavelength of a 100 Hz tone is just short of 12 feet so it is not possible to get any line type performance without a array of boxes that is more than 12 feet long. So As Arne points out above these little line shaped boxes don't exhibit and "line source array" behavior below 700-1000 Hz -
Yes ... you can assign a transmitter to as many receivers as you like (surround 7.1 if you wish :) )

Line Array? Yeah Line Array.
dboomer replied to Sonicstudios's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
LIne array is a marketing term and it doesn't really mean anything ... but they are the fashion rage these days. "Line source array" is what you really mean. There is no such thing as a small format line source array. To be full frequency the length of the line must be almost 12' tall. Bose L1's are not line source arrays. The only "true" line source arrays are ribbon drivers -
Light Pole Mounts?
dboomer replied to litesnsirens's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
The issue is tipping safety. In order to get certification for putting speakers up on a pole they have to be stable to a specified amount of tip angle and be able to recover if tipped that far. Our speakers are as high up as can be certified. If you add weight or height to the tops they would no longer be able to be certified and could fall over (hopefully not on a customer) if a drunk falls into them. So I have to say that it's not a safe practice and advise against doing it. -
I'm curious ... in what manner was a Windows 8 product being connected to the system? I also have the same question as litesnsirens ... did the mixer stop responding to physical commands or did you just lose iPad connectivity? Wi-Fi stability from a dongle USB transmitter to an iPad is greatly affected by local conditions. Often it can be a simple line-of-sight issue if your mixer is on a tabletop it's probably at waist height relative to your audience. The more bodies you get in the way, the less reliability you have (and you lose range). You could use a simple USB extension cable (keep it less than 6 feet) and raise the dongle up in the air. Just don't tape it to a metal mic stand :) In any event I wouldn't be comfortable using a dongle to iPad at more than 50 feet. External routers are generally much more powerful and can often use external antennas to also make this job easier. You can use a USB to ethernet cable and most routers, but I highly recommend running the router at 802.11N and on 5G service only (turn the 2.4G off). Ipads running at 2.4G are susceptible to interference from your audience's cell phones. If the mixer itself is locking up you could have a hardware problem that needs service or it could be as simple as you just happened to get a momentary bad power glitch from the wall. I can't tell without testing the mixer itself. If this happens a lot then I would tend to think hardware problem and if in doesn't then I would suspect bad power. I also wouldn't rule out overheating as a possible cause. One way to pretty much stabilize power from most possible problems would be to get a small UPS power supply that included battery backup. Even a small one would give you a few minutes of battery backup to protect against momentary blackouts.

Hard to guess as to whether you actually have a problem or you are just experiencing normal operation. First most common problem is a ground loop caused by not having your amplifier and your Relay poser supply plugged into the same power strip. Is it? Also.. does it make the same noise if you don't plug a cable into the transmitter but otherwise power up the system? Once you get past a ground loop issue ... The wireless system does make some noise (all electronic devices do) but it is very very low ... way lower than any other wireless system. When you plug into a very high gain guitar amp channel you are amplifying that small noise component. You could try plugging the receiver into a PA mixer and checking for noise there. If it is quiet in a mixer but noisy in your amp it's just the gain factor of your amp.

Daisy Chaining V70, V75 & V55 ?
dboomer replied to davefred99's topic in XD-V Digital Wireless Microphones
You've got it, I would recommend running into V75's ahead of V70's and a single V55 would have to be last. I would limit it to 4 receivers and if the V75 is first in the chain you can use the setup tools to monitor antenna conditions in your venue.
